Victoria’s Secret Diamond Collection Review

Last year Victoria’s Secret had introduced a collection entitled Sparkling Diamond. The collection was limited edition and the Muse was quite happy about her purchases from the Collection. This year the collection is back and simply entitled “Diamonds Collection”. Both collections have made the hefty promise that each palette contains crushed diamonds. Call me skeptical but I fail to believe these palettes actually contain crushed up diamonds but hey you never know right?

Last year the collection was quite a deal larger and included a face palette, various shadows, and glosses. This year the collection is a good deal smaller with a new face palette, three duo eyeshadows, and re-releases of the glosses from last year.

Although the collection is lovely I felt like it’s previous release was much, much better and I only ended up with one shadow duo and the face palette both of which didn’t wow me too much but I had to have them for a simple a reason that sometimes a drug addict needs a fix and so it goes for a beauty addict!

Here’s the palette from this year:

The palette quite reminds me of Dior’s Blossom Face Palette. It’s lovely but I’d have really enjoyed something pink or something with more gold. This appears mostly bronze for me and I’m not thrilled with the color selection. It can be used on your face or your eyes to create various looks!

Below you’ll see the difference in size between last years palette and this years! I really liked the pink version much better than the bronze/peach version. The size was much nicer as well plus the enclosed brush was lovely!

Last Year’s Release

The shadows available for this collection are duos. Last year they had released a loose eyeshadow powder where as this year the duos are pressed shadows. The shadow is nice and shimmery but a bit on the sheer side sadly!

Other color options available for the duos were a black/purple and a pink/gold I believe. I wasn’t paying too much attention but I remember not liking the other versions and settling on the teal/gold palette!

Here are a few pictures from last year’s release:

I’m a bit disappointed that a loose powder wasn’t released with the collection. Last year a gorgeous sparkling pink Diamond powder was released with the collection but this year we didn’t get one!

Here’s a photo of it:

Beautiful right?

I wish they had released something similar this year!

As you can probably tell from my lukewarm review I’m not entirely thrilled or as excited as I was last year about this particular collection! Oh well! I am kinda sorta pleased with the palette but aside from that I think you can safely skip! Word to the wise these tend to sell out super fast so head out to Victoria’s Secrets as soon as you can to cure your lemmings!

Happy Weekend Everyone!

Hey!!! I just got the face palette in the mail the other day 😀 You beat me to it 😀

I don’t know about last year’s collection but I actually like this year’s face palette. The powder feels nice, and the color is great! They all double as eye shadows too! Now you got me curious about last year’s collection *D immediately goes to look it up online*

    ciao!

  • the Muse

    hey d 🙂

It’s a nice palette 😉 I did mention how it doubles up as shadow in my post!

I did the leg work for you as far as last year’s collection…I’ve compared both in this post plus gave you a link for my review from last year 😉

    Hope it helps!

    Cheers!

The face palette is really pretty – but I agree with you. I wish there were more pink to it as well.

I love shopping Victoria’s Secret beauty online. Like for example right now – they have the Balm Staniac for $5.99! Crazy!

  • the Muse

    hi laurie!

Pink would be lovely and maybe a bit of gold 😉

I love shopping VS online too! The steals are insane especially during the semi annual!

I scored mucho tarte during the semi annual 🙂

That loose powder makes me burst into Japanese. SUGOI KIRA-KIRA!!!!

It looks like mineral makeup, might even live up to Bella Pierre standard (scored some gorgeous sparkly stuff from there..what I compare all other makeup against :P)

I disagree about the face palette though; those colours would be PERFECT on me!
(p.s. dontcha love the concept of face palettes? so compact & timesaving.. whoever came up with it should get a medal and a lifetime supply of brownies)

Le sigh! Why won’t they just bring back the original line? It was good quality stuff made in countries like Japan and Italy!

That said, at least the lipgloss looks interesting.

  • Georgina

Thanks for your informative write-up on Victoria’s Secret beauty products. You have an admirable discriminating eye for the best beauty tools.

  • Jossu

I think these products can contain crushed diamonds (only the cheapest ones) because in Finland we have a foundation that contains amethyst. I would love to order from Victoria’s Secret but the shipping costs are too big. I’ll just keep watching…

  • Julie

Those decorative things in the palette look like blobs! Hehe.

    Is the payoff good?

We don’t have a VS store here in Australia 🙁 I didn’t even know they had a cosmetics line!

  • Badbomben

Loving the face palette, it looks gorgeous! And the gloss, my goodness!:)

  • Beauty Addict

Hi Musey, nice shimmery collection u got there! The teal looks so lovely! I so gonna steal the loose teal shadow from u *grins*

Anyway, the packaging of VS lipgloss reminds me of Givenchy’s lipgloss. Looks similar eh?

Have a great weekend ahead! 🙂

    LOL A!!!!!!

I have a nine stack from Bella Pierre that I adore 🙂

I think on my eyes the palette will work better than my face 🙂

I heart palettes of any kind 😉

  • the Muse

    hi there Georgina!

    You’re most welcome. My pleasure!

Thanks for your lovely comment and hope to see you here again!

  • the Muse

    hello there Jossu!

    Interesting! Amethyst eh? Hmmm!

Have you checked e-bay!? Sometimes you can score a deal or two 🙂

  • the Muse

    hi there Julie!

hehe they do 🙂 The color payoff is alright on the palette but not fab on the shadows. Bit sheer sadly!

they do indeed. for years now. It stinks you have no access 🙁 as they do have a few interesting items!

    Thanks for your comment!

  • the Muse

    hello there Badbomben!

Then maybe I’ll try ebay. I have business english exam tomorrow and I have used most of my time to design my blogs. I think I’ll read rest of the evening.

  • the Muse

    hi jossu!

def sneak a peek 🙂 I’ve seen items cheaper on ebay than in store 🙂

    Enjoy your down time 🙂

Blogging is sometimes hard work hehe!

  • the Muse

aw I’m so sorry May 🙁

I always recommend checking ebay for these as during the Semi Annual (june) they will probably go on sale and people will ebay ’em off!

    Good Luck 🙂
