Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen Versus Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant

You know how I’m always bitching about my eyes lately?

Well I have the solution right here, just for you! If you’re a bit of a frugal person you may not want to continue reading however if you want the best of the best this may be the solution you seek to fixing your eye area up and making yourself look fresh, awake, younger, and beautiful!

This year I turned 30 and with that came a slew of problems that presented themselves to my under eye area. I’ve tried just about everything as you may know from my previous post on eye creams.

One of my main solutions for looking fresh and awake while concealing my under eye woes are one of two fantastic concealers!

Yves Saint Laurent Radiant Touch and Dior Radiance Booster Pen.

That’s it.

That’s my solution for fresher, beautiful eyes.

I’ve been using Dior’s Radiance Booster Pen for close to a year now and it’s slowing replacing my YSL Radiant Touch Pen.

Both pens are brilliant, wonderful pieces of cosmetic that, no matter your age, you should have in your beauty arsenal.

I highly recommend going out and purchasing one of each as they come with my highest rating of approval.

First of all I probably shouldn’t call these concealers because technically that isn’t what they are however I feel like they are pigmented enough to do a very good job of concealing tired eyes, medium dark circles, and fine lines. The general idea is to not conceal but to illuminate and highlight your skin and subdue any dullness.

You can use these all over your face not just under your eye. I normally use them under my eyes and throughout the day, as a touch up, I dab some on the corners of my nose and blend outwards for a fresh look.

Both pens are truly brilliant at making my eyes look 100% better!

What’s the difference anyway?

Well.

I feel like the Dior version is a bit more moisturizing and offers a bit more coverage. It’s very thick and it feels like cool lotion when you apply. Coverage is very, very good and the it lasts much longer than the YSL Radiant Touch Pen!

This is a bit of a Dior Radiance Booster Pen versus YSL Radiant Touch Pen post and the winner is…..

Dior’s Radiance Booster Pen in Candle Light 02

Dior Radiance Booster Pen knocks YSL out of the water. Shocked? It’s true the Dior wins hands down!

  • Conceals way better than the YSL Touch Eclat Radiant.
  • Blends much easier as the formula is highly moisturizing.
  • Excellent packaging and presentation (comes in a gorgeous blue velvet pouch, pretty silver tube, etc…)
  • Does not crease, fade, or settle into fine lines.
  • Lasts for hours longer than YSL’s version.
  • Cheaper at $31 USD compared to YSL’s $40 USD price tag!
  • Larger size for the price!
  • Lasts for ages and ages as a little goes a long way!

YSL does a mighty good job with it’s Touche Eclat Radiant and I’ve always been a very, very big fan but the Dior pen does a much better job!

YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Pen in Luminous Ivory 02

Touche Eclat isn’t nearly as moisturizing and you have to do a bit of smoothing around to blend it in correctly. It comes in a larger variety of colors than Dior’s version but I actually felt like Dior’s limited colors suited my skin tone much better than the YSL colors.

The price tag is $40 USD and it’s considerably smaller for the cost compared the Dior at $31 USD. I’ve always found the gold casing slightly gaudy where as the Dior’s slick silver case is quite elegant!

Sadly, Touch Eclat Radiant has a tendency to settle into my fine lines and it does fade very quickly so I am touching up through out the day where as that doesn’t happen with the Dior Radiance Booster Pen as it lasts quite a good deal longer without creasing or fading!

All in all I think I’ve found a replacement for Yves Saint Laurent’s Touch Eclat Radiant and that would definately be the Dior SkinFlash Radiance Booster Pen!

Both pens are well worth getting your hands on as they create the illusion of beautiful, flawless skin however the Dior version does a much better job of it and with a nicer price tag!

Toss your Yves Saint Laurent Touch Eclalt Radiant pens like I did and go and grab yourself a few Dior SkinFlash Radiance Booster Pens! You won’t be sorry! I sincerely have at least two on hand at all times!

Needless to say I do occasionally reach back into the bin and snatch up my YSL which means both the Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen and Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant are Muse Approved for purchase!

Tried both?

Which do you like more?

Refuse to try the Dior version because you’re so attached to your YSL pen?

How about their Estee Lauder counterpart? I’ve not tried YSL or Dior yet, but was happy with the price and the results, so I ordered one from Nordstrom. Am using it on my face for the first time this morning and am quite happy with the results. 🙂

  • Liz Marie

Thank God!! someone that agrees with my reviews!!! Everytime I say this people look at em weird *lol* Dior is SO much better 😀 I think the YSL is just really really marketed..
    Anyway, enjoy ur cruise!

  • snb-the glamourista

have you tried the clarins version of these? i find it dispenses pretty thickly but provides excellent coverage under the eyes!

  • Emelie

Thanks for the comparison! I’ve had Dior a few years ago but I didn’t think it performed the miracles I expected. But I might have to try it again now when my makeup skills has improved and I know what I can expect from it.

  • noangel

the timing for this post is PERFECT muse. Thank you so much! I’ve got Terrible Eye circles and have been using Bobbi Brown’s concealer. Looking to get a highlight pen to increase the coverage. thought of getting YSL but heard of complaints where it turned smelly! Dior will be the way to go!

  • nilla cookie

    Wahoo!!

I just got the Dior pen and I haven’t formed a concrete opinion on it yet. BUT.. I love that you love it too!

  • Nell

After reading your review I went right out and picked up the Dior pen, I already had the YSL. It is really so much better for my dry under eye area! Im quite happy with it, thank you for another spot on review!

This was such a helpful post! I love YSL but I agreed with all the negatives that you said. Dior seems to have exactly what I’ve been looking for. I’m going to give it a try.

  • Make-up Junkie

I’ve been a fan of YSL for a long time as well. Your review has me intrigued with Dior’s! I’ve always wondered about their’s vs. YSL so thank you for the review! I shall have to try it out! Thanks!

  • mjacqueline

Aw.. I wish I read your post first before going out to get my very first Radiant Touch. So far I have used mine thrice, I do love the luminating effect. I will definitely try the Skinflash when I finish this one.

Love all your posts and have a good trip!

  • beautyaddict1one1

Radiant Touch Pen is very light so it won’t hide the dark circle
It’s very good if you don’t have a dark circle however a lot of professionals use it as a highlighter above the concealers
U have a very good blog and I though I was a beauty addict lol
    Keep up the good work

  • c.c

i tried both…but much preferred dior skinflash. didn’t quite like the consistency of touche eclat. skinflash has been working fine…i have gone through 3 in a year until i started using armani’s. i use candle light as well, it brightens up my really tired eyes. i will go back to it soon aft i finish my armani’s…just hope the price would not be so high, 22! it doesn’t even last a long while.

  • the Muse

to be honest rachel I haven’t tried the EL version!

But if you love it I’m thinking I need to try it 😉

  • the Muse

    hiya liz marie 🙂

wahoo! I’m actually happy to see how many people are loving the Dior Pen!

I agree! YSL has a huge market/cult following. Don’t get me wrong it’s a solid product and the only of it’s kind for a while but the market has slowly evovled and brands are introducing these click style pens alot lately and Dior happened to release a superior version for sure!

Thanks 🙂 My trip was aces 😉

  • the Muse

    hello snb-the glamourista!

I have not but was curious. I thought the Dior version really covered well too! I think I’ll try the EL and clarins version next 😉 Review to follow I’m sure!

    hi Emelie!

You’re most welcome love. It was really a life saver for me. I find that sometimes when I am not loving something and put it away for a time and give it a 2nd chance suddenly I can’t live without it 😉

So do try it out again!

This happened to me with the LM brightening powder. Ranted about it but now love it 🙂

  • the Muse

    thanks rita!

I thought for sure I’d get a ton of comments yelling at me how much better the YSL one was 🙂
Good to know I’m not alone in my dior lust!

  • the Muse

    hi there noangel!

You’re most most welcome 🙂 I’ve been using BB concealer compact too and I use this on top and it does a fab job concealing 🙂

That’s interesting! I never noticed a smell but I did notice as it got older it got chalky which sucked 😛

Def grab one. Very worth it in my humblest!

Both are fab for highlighting the face and under eye areas!

  • the Muse

hi there cc! yay another dior lover!

I haven’t tried armani’s as of yet but I’m intrigued as I didn’t even know they had one 🙂

Candle light is the most flattering shade in my humblest 🙂

lord that is a high price 🙁 It’s $31 USD here or so. 🙁

Mine is from January and I’m still working on it…appears very full!

Will def do an article about how long it lasted when I’m through!

    Curious minds and such! 🙂

    Thanks for the comment!

  • shan

Hi! Love your blog! Asked for opinion about the Stila cherry crush before and bought it, absolutely love it now!

I’m wondering which shade would this Dior skinflash suit asian skin best? Especially those with yellow undertones and dark circles that are purplish/dark blue due to lack of blood circulation and sleep! Would shade 2 candle light do, or will shade 3 sunbeam be better?

I’m currently using bobbi brown creamy concealor kit in warm natural.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Hope I can catch the sephora Family and friends promo in time! =D

  • the Muse

    hi shan!

    Thanks!!!!!!!!

I’m so happy you love cherry crush..it’s great isn’t it 🙂

Hmmm good question..this is a little tricky…I use candlelight 02 b/c sun beam is very beige however beige is good for yellow tones but I still think that the beige might be too much..I’d go with 02 as it does have a nice light base which should do well by your dark circles.

But I do worry it might be too light since you are using warm neutral in the BB palette.

It’s a tough call but I think you should try 02 and I HOPE you’re in the US because if it fails to work you can easily return it for a full refund without having to pay shipping back and it’s fine if it’s slightly used as Sephora is great about returns!

I do know that the dior counter ma’s always suggest 02 for light to medium complexions

    hope this helps!

I’ve got olive skin tone and have always had serious panda eyes since I was a kid – it runs in the family.

I’ve been using Dior Skin Flash for a number of years and it is absolutely amazing – I cannot believe what a difference it makes to the overall look of the face! Brightening and covering up the dark circles seriously gives the face an immediate youthful look. As far as I’m concerned there is no other product on the market that even comes close. I use No. 01 as it is the fairest and covers up beautifully – it lasts all day long!

I’ve only ever used the YSL Touche Eclat product once when I couldn’t find a Dior store. Although the YSL product was slightly cheaper – there was no comparison. The dark circles were nowhere near as concealed – I definitely will not be swapping my Dior product for YSL again.

I too was shocked that Dior would be the better of the two products as the YSL product is iconic and everyone knows it – but honestly – the DIOR product is by far superior.

  • the Muse

    hi jo!

Sorry for the delayed reply 🙂

My sis is olive skin and she has same prob!

Isn’t it fantastic?! I always love reading comments where readers are loving it as it’s my HG!

I have both the Dior and YSL and I always reach for the Dior over the YSL!

I’m always always shocked that people prefer the YSL and consider it YSL….I just think Dior makes the superior product in this case. YSL is awesome but really the booster pen is where it’s at!

    amen 🙂 preach it!

    hehe!

    thanks for the super comment!
    Hope we talk again soon!

  • Nia

So, I tried the Dior today and I really like it 🙂 Thanks a lot for your reviews and advice 😀

  • jerseygrrrl78

Ok I know this post is ancient but recently when I was debating whether to go with YSL or Dior I consulted your blog! I purchased the Dior pen with my Sephora VIB coupon so I got a significant discount but after trying it I will gladly shell out the $35. HG undereye concealer/highlighter found! Thanks for the comparison review Musey 🙂

    • the Muse

fantastic jerseygrrrl happy to here and my pleasure ;-D the dior one is the best imho!

  • mary

I hope you still respond to this post. A YSL girl I’ve decided to give Dior a try solely based on your indepth and excellent review. I live in Pakistan where both brands are not available and am asking someone to get one for me. I used no. 2 in YSL what would be a good shade for me in Dior?

  • julie

I tried this in Candlelight. It is perfect EXCEPT for the fact that it contains fragrance.I am really sensitive , particularly around the eyes, and I was irritated shortly after applying this.
Any suggestions for something basically just like the Dior click pen but without fragrance? Should I try the YSL ? I wish I was not sensitive because otherwise this was absolute perfection!
I just found this blog, and it is really great!

    • the Muse

hi julie thanks so much for the comment! I’m trying to recall if my TCR has fragrance and I believe it does. Clinique does a click concealer, fragrance free, you might want to check that out, cheaper too ;D! I have a review, check the archives 🙂

  • julie

Thanks for the quick reply! It is too bad about the Dior one because I really loved what it did tho it was less attractive after I started scratching!
    I will check the archives.
I often end up at the Clinique counter or order from Prescriptives online because of my sensitivity issues. I am at the point tho where I don’t really care how much things cost because it is worth it not to scratch or turn red or break out.

  • Joy

Not sure if someone has pointed this out, but the dior actually only has half the product of the ysl – 0.05oz vs 0.1oz – despite the deceptive packaging. The price of the dior has also gone up to $37.

  • Tiara

I absolutely LOVE Dior products! I have gotten obsessed. I started with forever liquid foundation ten years ago i think it was and then fell in love with the Nude line when forever was re-named with a much longer title. Lol Slowly but sure my holy grail products started being replaced by a better Dior version…im even contemplating on using their moisturizer..I had never tried this though, but after reading an article on dark circles in Allure a couple months ago and not seeing my ever fave YSL Touché éclat and instead they had Dior radiance booster as one of the options,, I was intrigued. 🙂 🙂 I will have to try this now. And I’m glad by googling dior vs ysl I found your blog. I must say I’m loving it, thank you. You are very very helpful with these reviews!

    • the Muse

hi tiara thanks so much for the comment 😀 I am so GLAD the review was helpful 🙂 I really love Dior as well and think you’ll love the pen!

  • Andrea Rivette

This is exactly what I was looking for! I usedto use the DIOR but now it seems it’s discounted!!
Are you still using these pens?!
    Hope you’re well!
    Xo
    Andrea

    • Isabella Muse

I wish the Dior one was still around! I use the YSL one when I do lighter makeup 😀 I’m well thanks and you!? 😀 hugs!
