Fresh Absolute Concealer Review: It’s Holy Grail Material!

Is it me or do you feel like Fresh Cosmetics get terribly overlooked since everyone is always concentrating on Fresh’s skincare, bath and body, and perfume selection.

I simply adore a majority of the perfumes Fresh puts out plus the skincare is truly out of this world but really, sometimes, I like to take a second and remind myself what a great little line up of cosmetics Fresh has available.

Since I’m on my concealer kick still I thought I’d review one of my favorite concealers that happens to be from Fresh.

Fresh Absolute concealer is definately an answer to any and all under eye woes. It’s a heavily pigmented, moisturizing concealer that does a superb job of erasing both fine lines and dark circles.

At $22 USD for a rather tiny pump jar of concealer this could sway you to pass it up but I urge you to try it once and I pretty much guarantee you’ll love it. The formula is nicely moisturizing although slightly on the runny side however I really don’t mind in the least as I use a very tiny amount anyway so the product has no time to make too much of a mess as I blend. A little goes a long way as this is heavily pigmented in a major way. It’s probably one of the most pigmented concealer I have stashed in my beauty arsenal. This blends super well and I’m very impressed with the way it simply glides across my under eye area. This is something to say considering how dry my eye area is concealers don’t glide, believe you me, so to have one that glides as I blend makes me want to fall to my knees in thanks. The concealer pretty much lasts all day long with no touch ups in between. You put it on and it stays…and it stays it and stays….until you take it off. The concealer doesn’t crease nor does it cake it virtually erases very fine lines and creates smooth flawless coverage. Please…remember…a little goes a very long way.

One minor rant is that the pump distributes way too much product and until you’re used to the trick of using it you’ll end up pumping out a rather large amount of product which you’ll waste because you won’t need that much. Don’t make the mistake of pressing it down quickly or pressing it down far the way I did. Very gently push down with a slight wiggle to your finger tip and hope for the best. The packaging definately can use improvement in this department. Even when I’m being gentle too much product comes flowing out which completely ticks me off.

All in all I really like this one but it can use an improvement on the packaging. Aside from that coverage is really good, it blends beautifully, and the price isn’t bad at $22 USD since a little goes a long way.

The Muse stamps it with an approval for purchase!

Definitely worth checking out! The Muse likes it!

    Hi Muse,

The Fresh concealer does sound great. If only they’d fix the pump. Hopefully they’ll get around to that sooner rather than later.

It’s probably better for your pocketbook that you’ve stayed away from Armani. I love it but the prices lately make me cringe. As do the Chantecaille prices. I don’t mind the Armani packaging as I think it looks very Armani and as I like Armani’s fashions, I like the packaging.

I decided to take a leap and ordered the blue HD primer. I’ll let you know how that goes.

I had to giggle about your weather comment. Yes, the upper midwest gets comparable to Siberia in winter. Siberia below the permafrost line that is. Usually about mid-Jan-end of February I’d like to live somewhere else. Happily the weather the rest of the year is beautiful. I also couldn’t live some place without green or where seasons don’t really change. There is a reason so many Midwesterners have second homes in the southwest or Florida.

Sea otters are so adorable! It’s so cute watching them eat on their backs. I am rather fond of river otters too. There are some families of river otters near our cabin. It’s great when they come down to the harbor to play. So cute!

It is interesting how the J Big 3 keep churning out new products all the time. All of them state in their annual reports that it’s a Net $0 gain market yet they still come out with newer and better…

It’s a good thing to be choosy about what you buy. There’s too much out there to not be selective. It also costs a lot to go through the stages of finding what you like or don’t.

I haven’t found CdP to crease under my eyes, but I warm it up and blend it like crazy. I don’t have any fine lines either (yet, knock on wood). I do have really dark circles and it does a good job of hiding those.

Okay, SM makes much more sense than SH. Yes, the Twilight books. I’ve read all 4. Twilight was my favorite. Not on the same level as Harry Potter but something fun to pass the time.

Yes, I did see Edward was being played by the Cedric Diggory actor. I’ve seen him in a few other movies. The movie looks interesting. They moved up the release date after HP 6 got pushed back.

Thank goodness for the Gov’t paperwork reduction act. I’m certain it’s cut down on customs tariffs…

We’ll see about the Lancome lip gloss. I will keep my fingers crossed. Or hopefully Lancome will expand production a bit…

Yes, sometimes it is easier to say no…if I can’t decide, I just skip it. It’s when things stick in my head that I decide to get it.

You must’ve been in a Twilight mindset when you saw the black lipgloss. =D I’ll work on the swatches from the Black Tied collection soon.

I do like the dark reds in COC, but I am not a huge fan of their lippie items. After Armani Silk, even MAC amplified cream is a bit drying, and lipglass drives me insane with the sticky texture. But the colors are fabulous.

I have my eye on the Armani items as a substitute. Armani has some deep purples and burgundies like COC this season. =D

With the price of manga, one does have to be selective. Amazing how much books costs these days.

Did you see the 1 oz Clean perfumes at Sephora? It’s great to see the smaller size. I have too many perfumes to justify Clean at $76 for 2 oz.

Have you ever read the Abhorsen series by Garth Nix? If you don’t mind zombies, it’s a good high fantasy trilogy, followed up by some short stories.

I think later this week I am going to splash out and get some more SUQQU. I like the new Suion duo (the green and lavender). But I also have to save some for Neimans event. The Neimans event should start after Labor Day, Thurs I believe.

You like Guerlain meteorites, right? It looks like they might have another travel meteorites with the puffy applicator. They had one a few years ago called Meteorites Touche. It looks like a more pinky one is on the way.

Gmarket has shipped my first order. I am donating a bunch of Etude House items to a Korean benefit silent auction. I hope it goes well. Wow do they overestimate the shipping cost, but at least they give it back into your account.

Do let me know what you think of the Primavista!

    Hugs!

Hey Izzy, how’s your weekend? Did u manage to catch the closing ceremony of the Olympics? It was exciting to see many HK, Taiwan and Singapore stars together on TV! Not forgetting David Beckhan 😉

U have been naughty again Izzy! Another lemming 😛 Btw, does this come in different shades? The shade u tested looks a little too light for me. I’m a NC25.

Also where can u buy this? A friend is going to US next month and maybe she can get it for me 🙂

Have u tried your Jill Stuart Fall stuff? What did u get? I finally tried my JS 102 Gold Illuminance blush today. Got it for quite some time but couldn’t bare to touch the pretty shimmers. A little dissapointed that the shimmers are gone after a swipe, though I’ve already know it prior to buying it 🙁 I’m lemming the no.4 eye palette(can’t remember the name) but JS stuff are so expensive.

Can’t wait for your review of JS stuff!

    gracie 🙂

  • Critty

Very nice, I am going to have to try this bad boy out!! Thanks Muse!!

    Big hugs,
    Critty 🙂

    Hi Muse,
I’m sold by this review. Can you tell me what’s ur shade for this concealer?
Im about MAC NC 15-20, not sure which shade to get. 🙂

Muse.. if you are ever in Brooklyn or L.A., consider yourself a woman eligible for free lunch! I had picked up the double feature before seeing your review, and wasn’t so impressed with it as an under-eye concealer (loved it on blemishes, though). Right before I was on my way to return this to Sephora, I read your blog and saw this.. Went to my Sephora and checked it out. OH. MY. GOD. Best concealer ever. No ashiness, no creasing, perfect shade match.. I owe you lunch!

    hey bets!

The pump blows. Aside from that it's very good. There cosmetics tend to get overlooked sometimes do to the hype that surrounds the skincare/b&b.

The Chantecallie tempts me. It tempts like the devil however the prices are outrageous. I'd never be able to cope with using any of it b/c it's pretty and $85-$100 per a palette is honestly something I can't see myself indulging in.

The Armani doesn't appeal do to it's packaging. Couture wise simple is lovely and slick however you know me and kawaii makeup items!

I'm so glad you ordered the primer. I'm positive you'll love it! I just ordered the pink and lilac myself! I was trying to wait for FF but I decided I'd like to have them now. I'm highly interested in the Fresh primer as well you mentioned on your blog!

I also happened to see it in the Sehora catalog which by the way you are correct the errors were ridiculous and unforgivable also the entire issue sucked as per the normal as of late. I can't recall the last time I was excited to see an issue. This one was particularly boring. I'm somewhat exhausted of the goth. And that's hard for me to say as I do love it.

I'm impressed whenever you tell me the weather is that obscene! Sheesh! I love the season changes so I can totally relate. New York, as you may know, has touches of Siberia on occasion lol!

I'll admit I youtube sea outters simply to gag at the cuteness. lol! I'm positive you seen the vid where they are holding hands and floating about. How sickenly sweet lol!

Oh my gosh how adorable! Are they very wary of you or do they step right up?

I'm constantly impressed by the fact that the marketing reports state $0 it is somewhat hard to grasp and believe. However they continue to make the latest and greatest. Unstoppable really!

Sadly, I've always gone head in first without being choosy and selective. but I've since grown up a tiny but after being presented with so much product of late so yup definately pick and choose accordingly!

Aside from MAC which tends to be a vice. I indulged in all the overich pigments which is a bit ridiculous 😛

I'm highly interested in trying my CdP after your raves!

I do have a bit of fine lines going on and puffiness sadly 🙁 The puffiness is mostly my prob. Very difficult to get it down 🙁 and it's only one eye which is rather strange!

Sorry total typo 🙂 Dunno where SH came from 🙂 I haven't yet read book 4. I'm in my savoring phase where I avoid forums, news, and spoilers of any kind. I did notice on Amazon the rating was rather low so I'm scared to pick it up but I'm hopeful Edward's moodiness will keep the book alive for me.

I've also seen him in a few films but I thought they really did a well done job with the casting. I imagine I pictured Edward's "crooked grin" just as Robert Patterson pulls it off 🙂

Mmm warner wanting more pieces of the pie thus the move up! Severe disappointment for me as I was looking forward to it but a few films will keep me busy until Summer of next year 🙂

Lord knows I've been on easy street with customs 😉

I look forward to getting the Lancome and hearing back! Cross my fingers for us both!

We can share custody if one of us gets it and not the other 😉 hehe!

I obsess 🙂 guilty as charged Twilight has been on my mind since I've been re-reading. Plus discussions with you and another friend or too as since brought about some sort of blog post about how Twilight plays off of Mr Darcy. Lord I read way too much into novels.
Otaku or geek-like tendencies when it comes to my books 😉

I look forward to the BT info 🙂

I've come to a bit of peace with the lippies and glasses from MAC. I realize that the glasses have the best staying power around so I've made my peace with the tack and stick 🙂 although the flavor of the lippes is yak! I don't find them drying thankfully but I normally bite it off before it does damage lol!

Yes but Armani is alot more expensive missus 🙂 hehe!

Manga has gone up considerable since I began collecting and as you said books in general. I do cherish everything I read though and I feel it's a great investment considering I re-read alot eep!

So sick. But I do recall a time when some paperbacks (brain candy) were $1.99-$2.99 I mean seriously those prices have hit $4.99-$8.99 and upwards. Mind you, we are not that old!!!!

And I'm the type that sticks my nose up at the library as I much rather have my own copy. I have four bookshelves in my bedroom alone never mind the rest of my house 🙂

I did and reviewed the little package kit did you see it?! Great deal 🙂 Especially considering Clean is costly!

I LOVEEEEEEEEE ZOMBIES and no I have no that's added to my must read! Zombies are a special fetish of mine!

SUQQU is a brilliant brand but again I'm somewhat of a meh on it.

I love the guerlain meteorites some of which I was supposed to be buying from you *blush* apologies. I get swamped as you know. The travel ones sound awesome must check these out! WANT!

I remember that set as I have it and the balls were larger as well which I liked!

Gmarket is a bit of a rip 😛 I tried it once and decided I'd rather stick to cps from a friend. That's so nice of you! I was somewhat disappointed with my experience. I read it all carefully but still ended up paying way above cost.

The total cost for four small shadows from VOV was $63.65 and they refunded me $26 so that was near $10 and change each per shadow where as with a cp I could have gotten them at $3-4 plus shipping.

I'm tempted to try again but I think I might stick to cps for now 😛

Been swamped today but will head over and give the word 😉

    Hugs!!!!!!

    hello gracie my girl 🙂

    Wonderful and yours?!

No sadly I did not but I tivo’ed it and hope to watch it this week sometime 🙂

But of course David fits right in with all the hot asian actors hehe 🙂

It comes in a few shades….6 I think total so def one will suit your NC25 skin 🙂

Sephora carries the line so she can nab it for you 🙂 or I can grab it let me know!

I have indeed. I got one blush and two palettes I’ll be reviewing ’em for you soon!

I’m ALWAYS saddened when the fine spray of shimmer on Japanese cosmetics goes away after a stroke of my brush sigh! 🙁 I feel your pain!

I got Brocade Gold and Aqua Dress I believe..names are escaping me at the moment 🙂

JS is ridiculously priced for sure but so girly and gorgeous I can’t help but love it 🙂

    Hugs!
    Love ya!

  • the Muse

    hello critty!

😉 hehe you sound like me now Miss Critty!

    You’re most welcome, my pleasure!

    Hugs!

    Hello Pia!

W00t! Thank you kindly 🙂 We should shop 🙂 I’m in New York myself 🙂 And I wouldn’t mind lunch hehe!

Under the eyes the concealer isn’t exactly too grand. I like it alot however the tugging involved is the deal breaker 🙁 Plus the formula is extra thick so if you don’t blend enough it’ll crease however once it’s blended it’s great but sadly the tugging..yak!

Oh my gosh I’m so pleased you love this! I’m really really happy to hear this 🙂 It’s a fabulous concealer and prob one of the most pigmented I’ve come across. Tricky applicator with the pushing but aside from that pure genius for flawless skin!

Fantastic it works so well for you!

You buy lunch and I’ll pick up desert 🙂

    MWAH!

  • Phyrra

So of all the concealers you’ve reviewed so far, which is your favorite of the department store/sephora type, and which is your favorite of the drug store?
