Lush Rub Rub Rub Shower Gel Review
Lush introduced two new shower gels during a UK Forum party recently and your Muse happened to order a few of both.
Normally during a forum party there are special items offered that are not available within stores or online. These items are made exclusively for forum members and the general public may never know they exist if they never joined the UK Forum to hear about them.
For instance did you know that Lush has made several perfumes over the years such as Snowcake perfume, Snow Fairy perfume, Honey I Washed the Kids perfume….betcha didn’t know that did ya?
Strangely enough Lush UK did something a little bit difference this time around. During the party we were told a brand new, forum exclusive shower gel batch was being made up for forum members which of course made everyone hyper and quite excited. However, this time the shower gel actually made it to the shelves of stores and online!
As you can see my bottle is marked “Forum Special”
Interesting!
That shower gel is entitled Rub Rub Rub. I fear the name isn’t all that inventive but fitting in for an exfoliating shower gel.
It just so happens that Rub Rub Rub contains very tiny grains of salt for scrubbing those rough elbows, knees and dry bits on your body! This is slightly disappointing for me since I adore multitasking with Lush shower gels and using them not only on my body but also on my hair. Lush suggests you can use Rub Rub Rub as shampoo and in all honesty the pieces of salt in the product are way smaller than what you’d find in Big Shampoo however I’m still somewhat skeptical about using it as a shampoo!
I love scrubs! I have dry skin so anything that softens my skin is always a welcome addition to my skincare routine however I really don’t like exfoliating shower gels. I dunno why but I just don’t like the texture and formula for some reason thus I’m a bit put off by Rub Rub Rub. I personally think a scrub is a scrub and a shower gel is a shower gel and never shall the two meet.
So imagine my disappointment when Rub Rub Rub arrived and I used it the first time realizing it was a scrubbing gel! I guess I wasn’t paying attention during the party to realize as such!
The plus side of Rub Rub Rub is that it does smell positively gorgeous. If you know what Sakura Bath Bomb or my beloved and missed 17 Cherry Tree Lane Soap you’ll understand the scent of Rub Rub Rub. The smells are identical to these two items. The scent is a lemony fresh mimosa smell that’s truly fresh, slightly fruity, and very addicting.
The Muse really adores the smell but she could have done with out the sea salt!
Sigh.
Oh well!
The moral of the story is if you simply adore shower gels with scrubby bits this one is for you! However, if you’re more a fan of keeping shower gels as a shower gel you might want to skip this one.
I recommend grabbing a small bottle and giving it a shot! At the very least it smells wonderful and I do love that part about it however I can’t love the grainy feeling it has while I’m rubbing it on my body and trying to get clean with it!
Stay Tuned for a review of Lush’s other new shower gel entitled Yummy Yummy Yummy!
