Guerlain Parure Aqua Review

Guerlain Parure Aqua Liquid Foundation is a spoiled indulgence at $55 USD but well worth the hefty price tag for a delightfully wonderful foundation.

I had a difficult time deciding between purchasing Guerlain Parure Aqua or Guerlain Parure Extreme. In the end I decided to spoil myself with both as each performs a different function and both are beautiful pieces to add to my daily makeup routine.

Today I’m reviewing Guerlain Parure Aqua and later next week I’ll be bringing you a review of the Guerlain Parure Extreme.

Guerlain Parure Aqua combines good for your skin ingredients that are mineral rich and moisturizing. Parure Aqua takes it name from the fact that it combines sea water and natural spring water to create a cocktail of intense hydration for the skin. The hydrating factor of the foundation brought me to purchase it because as the colder weather sets in my skin will be aided and thankful for any extra moisture my foundation and other products can provide.

Parure Aqua is, as promised, a highly moisturizing foundation. It smooths on beautifully well, absorbs quickly, and leaves behind a radiant, flawless finish. Honestly, did you expect anything else from Guerlain?

The formula is nicely pigmented and I’d say coverage is medium. The texture is creamy and highly moisturizing and absorbs easily into the skin. I liked how well this absorbed quickly into my skin without much effort on my part bringing both a dewiness to my skin and a nice even finish. One pump of foundation should cover your entire face so this should last you a good long while.

The bottle is quite glam and reminiscent of Guerlain Forever Gold from the Holiday Collection in 2007. I love how pretty and gold the bottle is and it looks truly lovely on my vanity.

Although the price tag is hefty, I think the product speaks for itself if you’re a lover of posh cosmetics that do exactly what they promise. Radiant feel-good foundation, moisturizing and mineral enriched with SPF 20…the Muse likey!

I’m going to Muse Approve this one for purchase, I like it, alot.

  • the Muse

    hiya beautyaddict!

Agreed 🙁 it is costly but it works like a dream!

I love the MUFE HD 🙂 I’ll be reviewing it soon actually!

You’re most welcome, my pleasure 🙂

Hi Muse, just wanted to add that you didn’t write anything about the colour range of Guerlain Foundation and it’s really hard to understand how it looks on fair skin.
Maybe you could use it in one of your next looks photos?
    Thank you.

Eternally sarcastic anonymous reader, that likes your blog.

  • Phyrra

What is the color range like?
My biggest problem usually is finding a color that’s light enough for me. When I wore my MAC foundation, I went with the lightest shade I could (N1 or NW15), and it would still be too dark sometimes but it was the closest match I could get.

I haven’t had that problem with mineral makeup, thankfully. They seem to make a lot of lighter shades (at least Aromaleigh and Meow do).

  • Vichaya

Your review makes me want to try this badly. Their Fluer de teint’s been my HG. Do you know any different between these two?

  • the Muse

    hi Anonymous!

You are correct. I’ve been a bit rushed lately with my reviews..do forgive me 🙂

Although the shade selections are vast on this I didn’t see any shades that were particularly suitable for really fair tones which was disappointing however I highly recommend checking it at counter as they do have some good shades that have a considerable amount of pink to them which is flattering to fairer tones.

I sure will use this in an FOTD shortly 🙂

Thanks for your comment 🙂 I sure hope you’ll come out more often to comment!

  • the Muse

    hi dd!

I was just commenting that my biggest problem was the color selections. They all had a cast of beige which I hate however after sorting through I found the perfect color. It’s one of those things you have to head to the counter for and swatch up.

Mineral cosmetics do, do many lighter shades. You should try out prescriptives all minerals..they do a level 1 cool that would be idea for your tone!

  • the Muse

    hi there Vichaya!

I never tried the fluer de teints because I wasn’t loving the packaging 😛 so now I can’t compare sadly although I believe this is a bit of a lighter feel and great for drier skin!

  • Phyrra

Hmm I wear 1YL in Aromaleigh (which is lightest yellow linen tone), and Inquisitive Siamese and Sphynx in Meow (which are lightest neutral and lightest beige/pink/peach).

Cools tend to look too pink on me. It’s kinda funny though, because the last person at MAC sold me a NC15, when I first started sampling mineral makeup I tried cool tones, and couldn’t figure out why they looked funny until someone on one of the forums suggested I needed to add warmth 😛

  • the Muse

    hello dd!

Interesting as your skin is extremely pale and I’d never offer up a warmer shade! Did you notice my review this morning?

These foundation seem suitable for your tone!

  • Phyrra

Lol yes, apparently you can be extremely pale and warm, or extremely pale and neutral, as well as extremely pale and cool 🙂

That’s why I had such trouble finding foundation that matched that wasn’t too dark!

    *hug*

I haven’t had time to check yet, but I promise I will, gotta get my work done first!

  • the Muse

    dude,
I have no idea what the hell I am lol!

I guess I’m considered a medium-fair? But if I go to the counter they wanna stick me with a shade like NC25 which is so beige and dark it’s utterly unflattering on me so I lean towards NC20 which they hate and balk at telling me I’m not using the right foundation for my tone 😛

    Ditto!
    Multitasking demon today!
    Monday’s blow for work 😛

  • Phyrra

I just scrapped what I’d been given at the MAC counters (N1, NC15, NW15) and grabbed the lightest samples of everything in Meow and Aromaleigh, and the shades that ended up looking the best were the ones I bought full sizes of. I’m still not sure it’s 100% right, but I think I look pretty good in my foundation, regardless 🙂

Still, I may continue to sample different foundations until I find a better one. I sometimes think my 1YL in aromaleigh looks a bit too yellow. I tend to think I look best in my neutral Inquisitive Siamese foundation, but my guys love the Inquisitive Sphynx on me, saying it gives my face natural color, whatever that means.

I’m not sure if medium-fair is how I’d describe you.
You’re a little darker than I am, to be sure, but you’re not that dark, I still would consider you in the light or pale category.
NC = needs cool, if I remember correctly.
But if everything is too beige on you, I’d definitely try some of the more neutral pale foundations.

In Aromaleigh, I’d probably recommend that you try… 1N, 1C, and maybe 2N and 2C.

which reminds me that I should probably try 1N and 1WL at some point 😛

  • Phyrra

In Meow you might look at:
    Frisky Chausie
    http://www.meowcosmetics.com/Foundation.htm

I’d originally tried Inquisitive Chausie and it was too pink on me, though about 15 minutes after I’d apply the foundation, it seemed to meld with my skin better and I could only tell it was a little off from my color. I ended up giving the color to my assistant here at work because she’s really pale and definitely cool, and it works like a dream on her.

  • the Muse

    hey dd!

I don’t use minerals much for my only foundation so it’s tough to scrap what I do use and replace it with minerals boo on me!

It sounds like you’ve found a considerable amount of colors that work well for you!

I’m kinda goofy since my body and my face are too different shades 😛

I try to avoid beiges like the plague as they are utterly unflattering on me in my humblest.

Thanks for the recs on AL as I’ve been wanting to try ’em but scared of the vast color selection!

  • the Muse

    hey again dd!

I like the lookts of Frisky Chausie alot.

this may be something I need to look at but as I said I sadly don’t use minerals as my only foundation ;(

I prefer cream foundation as my sole foundation ;-( Why can’t etailers do creamy foundations 😉

  • Evanne
