Dior Diorshow Iconic Mascara Review

Meet my new holy grail mascara, Dior Iconic Mascara!

The Muse loves it and tells it as such when she whispers sweet nothings in it’s ear about how fabulous it truly is! I’m quite pleased with Dior Iconic Mascara after using it for the past month or more. I got this when it was originally released but so many reviews popped up around that time I felt like it would be such a snore to read review after review after review about the same product!

So…your Muse waited a little while and here she is to spread the good word about Dior Iconic Mascara.

I love all these new plastic applicators that are popping up across the mascara board and Iconic takes on a great new applicator that creates beautiful curl while defining lashes and lengthening! Mascaras like Dior Iconic should be hauled like it’s the end of the world as they have that uncanny ability to create amazingly long lashes while keeping a natural appearance! That’s one of the main things I loved about Iconic!

Although this creates amazingly long lashes while giving the illusion of wearing falsies it still manages to look very natural on as if you’re not wearing mascara at all. The effect is a feathering look that’s beautiful, soft, fresh, and most important, long! The applicator is reminiscent of a curling hair brush and is the key to creating curling lashes. Simply twirl the brush as you apply the mascara and it pulls lashes upwards and out while creating volume, lenght, and definition. I do recommend it for Asian lashes as well or those who have short, stubbier lashes as the brush gently pulls outwards while curling upwards and the formula doesn’t create a clumpy mess!

The formula is not thick but very light which could account for the clump free application. Although light that doesn’t take away from the ability for the mascara to last all day and well into the evening without smudging, flaking or causing general raccoon eye drama! If anything it’s actually really difficult to remove without a proper eye makeup remover! Fantastically long wearing to say the least!

I think Dior Iconic covers pretty much all the things we seek in a fabulous mascara and has us well covered for long, beautiful lashes! I highly recommend nabbing one of these for yourself as it truly delivers on all it’s promises!

The Muse loves it and approves it for purchase!

Tried it already?

Love it?

I don’t see a difference in the before and after. How many coats are on? I want something that looks super un-natural. I’ve been thinking of trying regular Diorshow. Do u have any opinions on that one. I would try this but I hate rubber brushes.

  • Connie

Thanks for reviewing! I don’t own this but I’ve tried it out and I must say I do like this better than the original diorshow. The brush is easier to work with

  • Askmewhats

ohh definitely huge difference on the before and after shot!!! and if it’s your HG mascara, it must be REALLY GOOD!

  • Jossu

Sounds so good! I have been thinking and thinking wether to buy it or not and now I think (again) I will definitelly get it!

    Hello Muse,
What’s this I see? You seem to be straying away from Japanese mascaras lately! This mascara did have me curious but I was worried because I’ve yet to come across a non-Japanese mascara that holds a curl in my easily-drooping-Asian lashes. Hmm…could this be the one? LoL Your review does tempt me!

  • Paopao

I got a sample of this mascara a few weeks ago and I really like it. I have also tries to dip the Iconic brush into the Diorshow Blackout mascara and the results are amazing!!

Have a great great weekend, Muse!

Wow, HG material really??? Better than MJ? I have been hoarding the MJ because God forbid I ever run out….*shudders*
But if this is as good or better, it would be easier for me to get locally instead of someone doing a CP for me!
How does it compare to MJ?

  • Inspiring BEauty Creator

I have the dior show blackout and I like a heavy coat of mascara to make my eyes pop. I do not like a natural look. Is the ionic mascara right for me?

  • the Muse

    hi robbie!

That’d be my pics. I’m not great at taking close up shots 🙂

Only one coat. If you’re looking for super un-natural you don’t want this. This is a light formula and gives a natural look 🙂

Regular Diorshow works in a similiar fashion as this in all honesty however it doesn’t curl as well.

If you’re looking for something thicker in texture which blackens and thickens you should try Excel Mascara or Beaute de Kose’s volumizing mascara. Both do a great job of really fattening lashes and give a highly false look! I have a review of the excel up if you do a search. I also have a guide to locating and purchasing them online!

    Hope this helps!

    hi connie!

My pleasure 🙂 I don’t particularly like the original diorshow and was pleasantly surprised I liked this 🙂 I was fearful it would be a disappointment for me like diorshow so I was happy it was so good 🙂

  • the Muse

    hello jossu!

It’s good stuff! I like the natural finish and the very light formula 😉 I was surprised I liked it. I’m a big fan of Dior cosmetics but haven’t been too pleased with the mascaras I’ve tried and this is def good stuff 🙂

  • the Muse

    hello dark nyx!

LOL I know how terrible of me 🙂 but my heart remains true to almost 99% of Japanese brand mascara 🙂

It’s such a tough call for me sometimes to recommend mascara to Asian friends and readers since I know they struggle many of you have with shorter lashes that don’t curl easier and with mascaras clumping so horribly 🙁 I think sometimes in the end it’s best to stock with japanese and asian brands since the formulas, applicators, etc..are truly made with the Asian eye and lash in mind! This seems like an excellent applicator for pull outwards and curling upwards and I def recommend it for smaller, shorter asian lashes however one never knows if it’ll actually work.

Hopefully, in my second life, the gods will be friendly and I’ll come back Asian so I can review from that prospective 😉

Until now my inner Asian girl says try it out! I think it might be good for Asian lashes 😉

  • the Muse

    Hey Tammy!

    Long time 🙂 Miss ya!

Hells of course you have to hoard MJ 🙂 good stuff!

I think the two are vastly different so it’s hard to compare. Both have way different formulas and applicators. I think this is worth checking out for yourself as it’s def one of several hg mascaras I own however it’s difficult to compare to MJ since the differences are huge!

    😉

Def worth a check out though!

And keep on hoarding…MJ Mascara is food from the gods..amazing stuff!

  • the Muse

    hello there Inspiring BEauty!

No, iconic is not right for you if you prefer a more “un-natural” look. Although it gives the impression of falsies it’s much more of a lighter formula than blackout and the applicator “feathers” lashes and makes them feel light and airy. They are fuller yes but not unnaturally so! I, too, like an unnatural look but for a more softer look, Iconic is ideal.

If you prefer unnatural I don’t rec this 🙂

    Hope this helps!

  • RobbieRaynbow

Thanks Muse! It’s too bad i can’t get a hold of the japan brands. But i’ve also heard good things about the Phenom’eyes mascara. And that ball is so uberlicious.

  • the Muse

    hi robbie

    your welcome love.

Did you read my Japanese buying guide? Plenty of places in the US to purchase Jap mascara 🙂

Phenom’eyes is lovely! I reviewed it 🙂 I adore it! The ball is so unique and interesting!

  • Kim

I looooove the iconic mascara! I got it as a gift for Xmas and have been using it everyday since! The only thing I don’t like is that it smudges a little onto the bottom of my eye.. i will pick up the waterproof one next time.

    • the Muse

me too kim! 😀 I’m on my second tube of iconic and absolutely lurve :-D!
