Jill Stuart Cleansing Oil Review

I’ve forsaken Shu!

Bad Muse, Bad!

Although I simply adore Shu Uemura Cleansing Oils I recently cheated on them with Jill Stuart Cleansing Oil….what….Jill Stuart is way more girly and kawaii looking! Can’t help a girl for wanting to indulge!

After careful weighting in of my obscene collection of cleansing oils, both cheap and inexpensive, I deem Jill Stuart the best cleansing oil I ever did try!

I’ve been using this for a few months now and I see myself quickly replacing it with a new bottle as soon as I’m done. At around 2,800 yen per 200ML it’s actually not badly priced when compared to other costly brands I’ve tried such as Shu and RMK. Granted it’s not budget priced but it does exactly what it says it does, while having beautiful packaging, and smelling nice!’

What more could a girl want?

The cleansing oil works in a similiar fashion as all good cleansing oils. Simply pump two or three squirts into your dry hands and apply to dry skin by slowly massaging in to break up makeup, rinse with warm or cool water, and Bob’s your Uncle! Your face is left beautifully moist and makeup free!

Now any good cleansing can do this for you however it’s rare I’ve come across such a sweet smelling cleanser or one that washes away so well without leaving bit of a residue behind. Almost all cleansing oils I’ve tried always have a teeny tiny bit of a residue that I have to use toner to get off afterwards however Jill Stuart Cleansing Oil washes clean the first time! Aside from RMK which carries a cool, minty fragrance, Jill Stuart Cleansing Oil also happens to be the first of it’s kind that carries a delightfully fruity, sweet smell. I know many of you dislike scented skincare but I personally love it especially when it carries such a flattering scent as this.

Although the bottle is plastic it still manages to keep a nice elegant feel to it and it looks rather lovely on my bathroom vanity sitting with my other pretty bits and bobs!

Maybe I’m bias because it’s pink or maybe because it smells so pretty! Whatever the reason I’m currently loving Jill Stuart Cleansing Oil and making it my holy grail cleansing oil from now on!

The Muse likey and suggests picking one up online if you can find it at a decent price! Do see my Japanese Cosmetic Buying Guide to see if you can locate Jill Stuart Cleansing Online for a good price!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. Do you know if this will be brought over to the US? I hope it is. We have a lot of makeup in the US, bring over some oil!! *yelling at them will do sooo much, I know* I can’t wait to try Jill Stuart (I’ve heard so much about it).

    • Eva

      Hi there-

Just so you know there is a store in the U.S. ! Check out jillstuart.com or visit the boutique in soho, manhattan! They have tons of products.

      ^_^

ive never really tried cleansing oils… do they work on waterproof mascaras/gel based mascara bases (like shiseido’s)?

i currently use albolene (avail at rite aid).. it has a vasoline-like texture but melts (sort of) with your body heat (can easily be removed with baby wipes), and nothing has EVER worked as effectively at removing my mascara

  • rocketqueen

AHHHH that is just too pretty! Oh no! What was that flying by? WAIT that was my money!!!

  • the Muse

    hi Kaoru

Sadly no it won’t. They’ll be bringing over cosmetics only at this point. If it does well I’m sure you’ll see the skincare too later on 🙂

I must say I agree…we have virtually no cleansing oils…it’s ridiculous! Aside from Shu we don’t have much of a selection at all!

    You’ll love it 🙂 It’s my fav brand 🙂

  • the Muse

    Morning Aline!

Yup 🙂 They work amazing 🙂 They remove virtually everything, including wp mascara 🙂

I normally take off a majority of my eye makeup prior to using but if you’re lazy you can just use the oil to remove your entire face worth of makeup 🙂

I’ve never tried albolene…it sounds like the balm makeup breakup that I purchased a few months ago 🙂 prob heaps cheaper though!

Must give it a whirl 😉

  • Wendy

    heyy Muse~

    how are you??? i’m fine~
i was wondering, is this cleansing oil supposed to be a sort of make up remover?
i normally use face wash foam by Biore… just wanted to know if this is suitable to wash my face, even when i don’t wear make up!
    lemme know girl~

  • Aline

you should, muse! its absolutely awesome.. it doesnt have the draw of other high end removers (yah, im a bit of a HE snob lol), but it certainly gets the job done… i received a small sample with my cetaphil cleanser and tossed it aside at first… but for some reason i decided to give it a try and it worked great!

all you need is like a quarter sized amount for both eyes.. its been the only thing thats been able to take care of my dramatic smokey eyes (like the one in my picture).. and it moisturizes too..

it costs about $12 for a huge 12oz tub (the last time i checked anyway.. ive had mine so long i wouldnt even know anymore lol… not sure if there is anything smaller either)..

try it and let me know how it works out for you! take care muse =)

    hugs

    Hi Wendy.

I’m good 🙂 Glad to hear you’re good too!

It is a makeup remover yes.

It is indeed. It breaks up makeup and washes clean 🙂 That’s what it’s used for.

Hmmm yes I think it would be fine to wash your face with it even if you don’t have makeup on. It’s gentle and moisturizing plus it smells very pretty 🙂

    Why not?!

Although it’s a bit expensive to use just on a bare face hehe!

so you might wanna have a full face of makeup to take full advantage of it’s price tag 😉

    Hope this helps!

  • the Muse

    hi Aline!

    LOL I can relate 🙂

It sounds ideal! I really should try it!

I wear heavy makeup eye looks too so it sounds like it’ll be awesome for the days I’m doing heavy pigmented eyeshadow 😉

You might see a review soon hehe!

    Thanks for the rec lovie!

Sorry for the delayed reply been a bit swamped with comments 🙂
    Hugs!

  • Wendy

    Hi Muse~

Thank you for clearing this up~

Hm… i am considering about buying the cream wash instead… I think that is more suitable for me right? I am not sure if that removes make up or is just a normal face wash?

By the way, have you tried the Brightning Eye Cream before of Jill Stuart?

Have you seen the Christmas Coffret of Jill Stuart? It’s to die for! I just have to have it! hehe….

    Take care girl~

    x wen

  • the Muse

    hello wendy!

    No problem!

Just a warning the cream wash is slightly drying. I have it and wasn’t in love with it 🙁

It’s a normal face wash 🙂 Doesn’t do much for breaking up tough eye makeup!

I haven’t tried they eye cream before 🙂

Yup I seen the coffret. I have last years 🙂 They are always so special. I’ll be getting this year’s as well as it looks lovely 🙂

I can totally relate that you want it hehe so do I 🙂

    Big hugs!

  • Wendy

    Hi Muse~

Aw thank you for the tip!
I might stick to my Biore foam for now… since it’s cheap and it’s working well on my skin 😉

Where will you be getting the Christmas coffret from? I informed at Bobodave and they will get it… At Ichibanko they have a waiting list already! :O

But in december I will be visiting Hong Kong and apparently a JS stand will be opening there in a mall!! Ohh can’t wait to visit it! ^^

Hope you have a nice weekend~ Take care!

I was JUST looking at my JS Cleansing Oil sample sachet. This makes me want to use it even more!

By the way, KP’s Perfect Cleansing Oil has a bergamot/orangey scent. 😉

I also like the scent of the RMK one.

  • the Muse

    hi wendy!

    You’re most welcome 🙂

Cheap is always good and if it works def stay with it 🙂

A friend of mine that leaves in Japan will be picking it up for me if she can 🙂 Bobo and Ichibanko is a bit too pricey for me 🙁

Fantastic! Lucky you heading to Hk! Plus the prices are not bad on JS as well…a bit cheaper too..3% less!

    Yay!

Hope you had a fab weekend too!
    Happy Monday!
    Hugs!

  • the Muse

    hey mags

so nice to see you commenting today! Been ages since we talked 🙂

Def us it! Smells so nice and really works a treat!

    I didn’t know KP’s smelled! AWESOME! RMK I love! Minty fresh 🙂

So sad that it’s so expensive 🙁

  • makeupmag

Where do you get your RMK from?

You know, you have DHC! Have you tried that?

  • the Muse

    hey mags.

I have a mate in the UK who got it for me 🙂

    I haven’t tried the DHC b/c it’s olive oil based 😛 I doubt I’ll like the smell 😛

    do you rec it?

  • makeupmag

I’ve only tried a sample. It’s okay; nothing exceptional. My fave is still MAC Cleanse Off Oil – it gets everything off in a flash! 😉

  • the Muse

hey mags sorry for the delayed reply!

I never tried the mac one whoa..how’d I miss that 🙂

  • hikari

I know this is coming waaay late but can you give the screen shot of the full ingredients list? Thanks.

    • the Muse

hi hikari it’s not on the bottle and sadly the box was in Japanese anyway which I no longer have, tossed it away.
