Bobbi Brown Glitter Lip Balm in Copper Diamond Review, Swatches, & FOTD

Bobbi Brown Copper Diamond Collection really caught the Muse’s eye this season with the introduction of the beautiful Bobbi Brown Copper Diamond Shimmer Brick. Also released with this collection are brand new, limited edition Bobbi Brown Glitter Lip Balms.

Of course the Muse is all about glitter so she must have some glittery lip balms for her lips! Sadly, after trying out these balms I’m somewhat on the fence if I actually like them! I tried the shade Copper Diamond which is a rich brown shade with gold shimmer. I did expect a gritty formula as per the name “glitter lip balm” but thankfully the formula is quite smooth and applies easily. Actually the formula is my main problem with the product, considering it’s a balm it applies as such so it has that slightly waxy feel to it and feels a bit heavy on the lips! In defense of the product you have to take into consideration the fact that it is a balm so it does have the texture of one. I guess I was feeling like it might be a bit more emollient and moisturizing on but that’s not the case. Some tugging and pulling is involved to get it to glide on smoothing but the good news is it is pigmented so one layer of product is plenty! I also wasn’t particularly thrilled with the color as it’s a chocolate brown that wasn’t too flattering on me and the other two shades released don’t look too much better to me so I honestly have no interest in purchasing another shade considering the formula is fab and the shades aren’t either.

All in all if you like the general texture of regular balms you might find this is a product you’ll absolutely love but the Muse wasn’t particularly excited about it after trying it on for size. I’ve had some great experiences with Bobbi Brown lately but the Bobbi Brown Glitter Lip Balm gets a thumbs down for me this time around!

Have you tried these?

Love ’em?

Not so much?

Tell the Muse!

I have been wondering about them but you know my biggest beef with lip balms like this, is that they come in a pot! Honestly, how in the middle of -20 degree celcius weather do they expect us to apply lip balm that comes in a pot? And well, frankly I can’t even do it in summer – anything for lips should come in tubes only!

  • the Muse

    hi mighty j!

I HATE pots with a passion as I hate sticking my fingers in it 😛 I’m anal about germs 😛

That’s very true about being outside and wanting to apply 😛 I guess they expect you to be in front of a mirror during application hehe 🙂

I just prefer tubes since they are WAY more hygienic 🙂

    amen 😉

I am totally with you on that, I am not exited either 🙁 too bad since they are not exactly cheap…

  • the Muse

    hey nell!

did you try them? I dunno what it is but I didn’t dig the formula…seemed like a lot of tugging invovled to get it into place…I gave it the benefit of the doubt considering it is advertised as a balm and it goes on as such but I just thought it would be way more moisturizing and glossy feeling 🙁

Yes, I have the copper and the pink one. I think they are okay, but not great, which means I wont ever use them, since I have so many lip products, the okay ones get overlooked in favor of the great ones.

    aw thanks hun!

You were busy catching up on old posts this weekend eh hehe 🙂

I know these are a year old and a “special” item, but do you know where I can find any? I always get compliments on the colors, and now – again – I find I should’ve bought 3 each at the time! Thanks for any information!

      Hi Teresa

Good news. You can get a new Breast Cancer Set available in October which includes a pink glitter balm and a lipstick….will be reviewing it soon for BCA Month. Also they have one included in the runway set which is a very pale pink…I actually have it, brand new, if you’d like to buy it. I’m sure sooner or later they will rerelease. You can check around counters sometimes they have ’em hanging out or a CCO if you have one in your state 😀

      Or evil-bay!
