Bobbi Brown Blushed Pink Collection Review featuring Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadow Swatches and Review

One of my absolute favorite collections this Spring is undoubtedly the Bobbi Brown Blushed Pink Collection. The simplicity of sweetly blushing cheeks paired with a soft sparkled eye look really made Spring come alive for me. Of course, I was particularly thrilled with the Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadows as these are truly a gem and I hope that the collection inspires more colors in this particular shadow format!

Jump ahead for the review on Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadows and a few other items from the Spring Collection, Blushed Pink.

Many of you asked me to review all four shades from the new Sparkle Eye Shadows so indeed I have all four shades for review. I personally couldn’t resist any of these shades as I’m all about the sparkle and shimmer. You’ll read many reviews that state how subtle the shimmer on these new shadows are and how wearable it is especially for those who really don’t like a shimmer finish. All this is true but the product also has the ability to build up color as well into a truly sparkly look if you desire.

Only four of these shadows were released and the Muse longs for more as truly they are special. Mica, Sunlight, Ballet, and Silver Moon are the shade selections. The colors are completely suitable for Spring as they have a certain lightness about them for a fresh, flirty look. Ballet is a true pink and one of my favorites, Sunlight is a fav for me as I simply adore shimmering golds, Mica is a pewter gray which goes well with smoky eye looks, and Silver Moon is creamy light silver. Each shadow is housed in the new standard black eyeshadow case the only difference being the clear flip top secondary lid that covers each shadow and prevents fall out and a mess.

Don’t expect a whole lot of pigmentation from the shadows as these are merely a hint of sparkle which makes them ideal for topping on top a completed shadow look. With a bit of work I did find I could get decent color pay off but that takes a bit of layering to work well. I think the idea of the shadow is to create a light, bright look that freshens the eye area up and doesn’t overpower it with a load of shimmer and glitter. The end result is a shimmery shadow that can work on a girl of 20 or a woman of 45.

I was somewhat surprised to read a few rants that state the shadows as having major fall out. That’s so not the case for me. If you’re wearing these on their own I find it best to use a sponge applicator to layer color. If you’re using these as a finish on a complete shadow look I find a nice bushy brush such as the MAC 224 works great at picking up some of the color and placing it lightly all over the lid.

I think the shadows work fabulously on their own for a simple understated look. Don’t let the words “simple” and “understated” fool you though as the shadows have a knack for bringing out a fresh, glowing face. These would be particularly great for using with a bolder lip look if you’re wanting to not take away from lips with a vibrant shadow.

All in all I definitely Muse Approve them for purchase as they are truly something special. If you’re a huge fan of a shimmery finish you’ll love these.

Also released with the collection were two new shades of shadow, several creamy lip colors, and a few glitter lip glosses. I have one of each shade in the categories to review for you.

The first is Bobbi Brown Matte Eye Shadow in birch. Birch is soft nude brown which I’m not a particularly big fan of simply because of the finish. I do believe these new shades were added into the collection to use as liners as you’ll notice in one of my FOTD’s above (Ballet FOTD) that the shade pairs up rather well with the Sparkle Eye Shadows to create a good liner shade. I find that most of the matte finishes in Bobbi’s shadow catalog work great as liners but I’m not a big fan of using them as an all over shadow.

Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Color in Blush Pink is a great true pink shade. This particular color paired up well with all of the shadows in the collection but worked the best with Ballet and Sunlight. The fresh pink and gold brought out the innocent pink of this shade and added a nice fresh look to lips.

And finally Bobbi Brown Glitter Lip Gloss in Baby is a peachy pink shade heavy on the golden sparkle. This too worked well with all the shadows but particularly good with Sunlight, Ballet, and Silver Moon. Contrasting Ballet with a peachy shade of glittery gloss creates a fresh Spring look.

Overall, the Bobbi Brown Blushed Pink Collection was definitely a favorite this season and I’m positive I’ll get plenty of use out of the sparkle eye shadows. I do think the star of the show was the sparkle eye shadows! I was very pleased with all the items released but I would have loved either a cream blush or a powder blush to compliment the other items in the collection, this is probably the only thing I’d change about the release.

If you’re looking for a fresh, Spring look with light touches of pink, gold, gray, and silver, the Bobbi Brown Blushed Pink Collection has it all. As Spring draws nearer a fresher, lighter makeup is ideal and this collection offers that.

Likey!
