Beauty Confessions: Washin’ Up the Brushes!

Brushes. Brushes are so very important to makeup application. I have a slew of brushes since many I got in kits and of course I went a little buck wild purchasing a slew of MAC brushes when I first got into the brand.

Although I must confess…

Jump ahead to hear my beauty confession.

I haven’t washed mine in over a month. Oh my god I’m so ashamed of myself. Eep! I normally give them a proper wash with MAC Brush Cleaner at least every three weeks but after I went on holiday and came back it’s been well over a month since I cleaned them since I’ve been terribly busy. Indeed, a gross and possibly bacteria filled beauty confession.

I’ve sinned. Forgive me?

When was the last time you washed your brushes?

How often do you wash ’em?

I wash them at least once or up to 3 times a week for powder or shadow brushes but once they comes in contact with cream or liquid I wash them before I use again so I wash my foundation brush everyday…I use dish washing soap mixed with olive oil to wash my brushes…honestly it works better than mac brush cleanser in getting rid of cream or foundation…

hey su. I wash ’em quite alot myself but been known to be remiss 😀 and def take special care when I use them with liquids 😀

Surprised no one ever commented on this one!

Well, I tend to wash my brushes kinda sporadically. Sometimes right after I’m done with them, other times 3-5 days after. But then again, my brushes aren’t of the utmost quality (sadly). Oh and that particular washing schedule is only in regards to brushes that are used for liquid/creamy applications. My eyeshadow brushes just get rinsed really well with hot water. Random washings here and there.

You know, somehow I don’t think bacteria as much of a problem as one might think. The way I figure it is, that’s what parabens are for, as well as BHT and other assorted preservatives. Since my foundation and concealer are natural-ish (I use tarte), I try to be better with them than I would be with regular brands.

Oooh~! Question: How do you clean a click pen? o.O

hey cristi! I think a few people did but sadly they got lost during my move from blogger 😀 True but who wants to use a gross brush 😀 hehe!

Click pens are reserved for tissues only as def can’t dunk them in water and such 🙂
