Rimmel Stay Matte Clarifying Matte Foundation Review

For the most part my skin is quite dry however Summer I do have a case of oily skin that crops up on my forehead and the sides of my nose. For those days I’m always looking for the next best thing to keep that oil in check. Last year, I quite fell in love with Urban Decay Mattifying Powder which allowed me to tote around a rather pretty purple palette with powder inside to help battle the mirror-like shine that cropped up on my forehead.

This year, taking things a step further, I decided to look for various oil controlling foundations to fight the good fight against shine, oil, and Summer humidity. My quest led me to Stay Matte Clarifying Matte Foundation and yes I heard a few recs yelled at me about this one and see? I listened and got me some on the double.

Did it work at battling my oily forehead?

You’ll find out after the jump!

Rimmel Stay Matte Clarifying Matte Foundation is meant to offer coverage and a mattifying finish to allow skin to remain fresh and oil free. With it’s price tag of $5.99 or so it seemed like a great budget friendly option for matte, fresh skin.

A few reasons I didn’t like it….

The formula feels quite moisturizing which is fantastic as my dry skin sucks it up. But what’s the point of purchasing a mattifying foundation that’s moisturizing? Shouldn’t it dry down to a matte finish? Hmmm. It didn’t really have a matte finish and for the most part feels and works like a tinted moisturizer as the coverage is quite sheer. As for controlling oily skin I didn’t feel much of a difference in that area either.

As with most drugstore brands I found the shade contained a heavy dose of beige which wasn’t particularly flattering on my skin. The formula and texture of the foundation is very nice and blends easily but the finish is more of a dewy, moist one rather than it’s promise matte one.

Overall, Rimmel Stay Matte Clarifying Matte Foundation offers decent, light Summer coverage but don’t expect it to battle your oily skin, that might be asking too much.

Who might like this?

  • Anyone who likes a light, sheer foundation for Summer wear and tear.
  • Those who like a moisturizing foundation.
  • Anyone seeking a cheap, inexpensive foundation that can mimic the formula and texture of a tinted moisturizer.

Anyone a fan?

Would You Buy It? Clarisonic PLUS Skin Care System with Spot Therapy

Clarisonic+PLUS+Skin+Care+System+with+Spot+Therapy

As you may already know from reading my prior review on the Clarisonic it didn’t turn out to be true love. I wanted to love the brush so much but it didn’t work well with my skin and I ended up returning it in the long run sadly.

I recently seen a youTuber reviewing the new Clarisonic PLUS Skin Care System with Spot Therapy and I was intrigued yet again by this brush.

Click ahead for the deets on the new brush!

Clarisonic PLUS Skin Care System with Spot Therapy has a few new features that do interest me. The brush now has three speeds and promises to remove six times more makeup. The brush also has a new spot therapy for the body which promises fewer dry patches and exfoliation for softer, smoother skin.

Technically if the brush had offered exfoliation for my face I’d probably be more excited. I’m vaguely curious and tempted to indulge just to see if the second round with Clarisonic will be a winner for me.

Would you buy it?

Does the new Clarisonic Skincare Brush tempt you?

Yay or Nay: Bare Escentuals Matte Foundation

summer yayornay

Good morning lovies! Hope everyone is enjoying the fine weather. It’s not quite Summer but it’s getting warmer that’s for sure.

Speaking of warm weather that sure does bring oily skin out to play doesn’t it? Bare Escentuals is introducing a matte finish mineral foundation which could prove to be great news for the lovers of BE.

So Bare Escentuals Matte Mineral Foundation Yay or Nay?

Share your thoughts in the comment box and take the jump to see what I think!

Love BE do not love BE foundation. Personally I’d avoid it because BE foundation makes me itchy anyway. Secondly, I’d avoid it because a matte finish on my dry skin, not good to say the least. Even in the warmer weather when I’m having a bit of an oily skin spell I wouldn’t indulge in a matte finish, just doesn’t work for me at all.

NAY

How about you?

Let’s here from the BE lovers, what’s your take?

Pieces of Life: Jung Eui Chul Crushin’

Jung+Eui+Chul

I dunno why but I’m feelin’ the love for Jung Eui Chul today. I’m crushin’ all over him lately. What a cutie. My best friend Jai and I were discussing it and it’s been decided this kid needs his own 25 eppy romantic drama.

Anyone with me?

Fun fact: He actually took the place of Kim Hyun Joong in my heart when I first seen Boys Over Flowers as I hated Hyun Joong’s hair in the drama. Granted, all that red slowly grew on me but I think Hyun Joong looks way cuter as a brunette circa SS501 early days!
