As you may know I have a slew of Asian drugstore finds hiding out in my closet. I really like shopping inexpensive Asian skincare and I’m always full of glee when I can score a deal online or have a friend pick me up something from Japan or Korea. One of my fav finds from the Asian skincare world is B&C Aqua Way Super Off Eye Make-up Remover. You may recognize the B&C name if you know Japanese cosmetics as they are the company behind Love Clover. B&C also offers a slew of inexpensive drugstore skincare items such as Aqua Way Super Off Eye Make-Up Remover. This retails for around $4-$5 USD in Japanese drugstores but it’s available readily online for US shoppers at around $8-$9. The price is a tad jacked up so the question to answer is it worth the price increase?
Jump ahead to hear about it!
Yes, if you have no friends or contacts in Japan to get this for you than yes it’s worth the price jack. It’s a quality item that I’ve used for two years or more now and absolutely adore.
What is it?
It’s a subtly orange scented gel which removes waterproof mascara, hard to remove eye makeup, and eye shadow.
I’ll start off by saying I’m not partial to gels or balms for removing my shadow. For example I think theBalm Balms Away
is awesome however it’s not my ideal makeup remover. I do prefer liquid to remove my eye makeup. That being said I can be convinced to love good quality items like Balms Away and Super Off Eye Make-Up Remover.
The formula is a very thick gel that doesn’t foam or sud, no tricks or gimmicks, simply a gel here. Taking a little more than a pea size amount you rub it on makeup laden eyes sans water. As you rub the gel breaks up makeup and goes to work to remove it. After gently rubbing for a minute or so you can proceed to rinse with warm water. Presto! Eye makeup, even hard to remove waterproof mascara, is rinsed off.
I imagine the idea of rubbing your eyes for a minute or so isn’t too appealing but I find that the gel allows your fingers to gently glide across your eyes so no severe tugging is involved. If you’re terribly uncomfortable with rubbing you can simply work the gel onto lashes and ever so gently rinse them clean. Honestly, the friction of the gel makes for a ever so gentle removal.
It’s possibly one of the best removers I’ve come across aside from Lancome Bi-Facil plus it’s way cheaper. You get about a 3.7oz to 4oz tub for the price which will last well over 3 months with daily use.
If you’re looking for the Best Inexpensive Asian Eye Makeup Remover, B&C Eye Make-Up Remover is it. It’s Muse Approved for purchase! A tried and true favorite.
The Muse recommends purchasing from the following places:
I’ll be bringing you more of my favorite, best inexpensive Asian skincare picks soon!
The tip of my nose occasionally mimics a porcupine. It’s so bloody difficult to get those pesky little blackheads cleared out even with the toughest of scrubs and nose strips. Grrr! *Shakes fist* Damn you blackheads!
I recently picked up Soap & Glory Scrub Your Nose In It in the hopes that it would cure the woe of blackheads from my nose!
Click ahead to see if it worked!
The bad news is those blackheads are still there. Sigh. Fail! No matter how hard I try those two or three little dots just drive me bonkers trying to remove and the only really success I’ve had getting them out is either extraction or using some Mario Badescu Silver Powder.
Oh wait my Sony Black Head Stick also works, heavy sarcasm there!
Soap & Glory Scrub Your Nose In It is a cooling, minty scrub to refine large pores and clear ‘em up. The scrub is meant exclusively for your T-Zone but it is suggested you can easily work the scrub around your face for a deeper clean. Actually if it wasn’t for the fact that I’m using this as a simple face scrub it probably wouldn’t be worth much as it didn’t remove those blooming blackheads but it did work at getting my skin nicely polished. I’m virtually pore-less so I’m unsure if anything has been refined on my face but I did feel flake free and squeaky clean after use plus no dry, tight feeling. The scrub is blue with a fresh, minty almost medicine smell. Some may be turned off by the scent, I personally like it. If you’re feeling inclined you can also take it in the shower with you and scrub away or use it as a 3-5 minute mask!
Although it sadly did nothing for my blackheads I’m still quite liking the nice deep clean it gives if nothing else.
It’s worthy of a pick up if you find it on sale (Soap & Glory was on sale last week at Target, could still be so check out your local store). It doesn’t perform miracles but for a basic deep clean, scrub it does a decent job. Not a love but a likey for sure.
The Muse is busy exploring the world of bronzers this year and she still has reservations about it, especially dank, matte ones, but she’s found a few tips and tricks that work at making bronzer (even the matte ones) rather flattering and pretty on her face!
Jump ahead for a few tips for making your boring, blah bronzer POP and SIZZLE for Summer!
Try pairing a matte bronzer with cheek stain!
Apply a dab of cheek stain on your cheeks and wait for it to dry. After dust on a bit of bronzer for a subtle sunkissed glow!
What the Muse says:
I absolutely love breaking bronzer up with a pinch of pink or red. Try using Benefit Posietint or Vincent Longo Lip and Cheek Gel Stain in Baby Boo.
Matte bronzer is a tad boring for me but you can spice it up a bit by using a deeper pigmented powder blush on top.
Buff your matte bronzer on, smile, locate the apples of your cheeks, brush on a light dusting of your favorite pigmented blush!
What the Muse says:
The final effect is a pretty sunny bronzed look! I love breaking up my matte bronzer with a touch of color as it looks more natural and pretty this way rather than a blah brown shade on my cheeks I can get a nice bronze finish with hints of pink or peach by using a richer blush color. Try it with MAC Mineralized Blushes as they are richly pigmented with plenty of pop!
A majority of bronzers are matte but shimmery ones are becoming more and more common. I actually prefer them with a heavy dose of shimmer as it breaks up all that heinous muddy brown! Try pairing your matte bronzers with a bit of shimmer to create a pretty glow on cheeks.
Buff bronzer onto cheeks and apply a fine application of gold or pink shimmer!
What the Muse says:
Not many people like glittery, shimmery finishes but I happen to adore them. That’s how I like my makeup. It’s not for everyone but I do think that a tiny bit of shimmer breaks up a matte bronzer beautifully.
Urban Decay Baked Bronzer on it’s own is beautiful but also pairing it up with a cream blush is really a pretty effect. It adheres to skin better and gives a gorgeous flushed, sunny look!
Apply a cream blush to cheeks, I suggest trying out Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge
, after brush on Urban Decay Baked Bronzer or the shimmery bronzer of your choice.
What the Muse Says:
I love the flush of pink contrasted with the deeper brush of golden shimmer that this gives to my cheeks. It’s as if my face was touched by the sun!
Using a fan brush or a skunk brush to apply bronzer is always great for a lighter, more subtle application. It’s easy to go overboard with bronzer during application and using these lighter, less dense brushes allows for a sheer layer of bronzer on your face!
Application Tip: Swirl your fan or skunk brush in your bronzer and sweep onto face and cheeks for a light application. Build up color as needed. Since the brushes only capture the smallest amount of powder you can build up color easily without over doing it!
What the Muse Says:
A skunk brush isn’t really meant for bronzers but I like using it to buff a bit of color on my cheeks. It works beautifully with shimmery bronzers in particular.
Bronzers are scary. I should know I’m deadly scared of ‘em! They just all look so terribly muddy. If you’re a bit fair of skin or just don’t find the typical brown bronze appealing try out a pink one!
Pink bronzers have just the right contrast to give cheeks and face a touch of the sun while avoiding muddy brown shades. Try out Bobbi Brown Illuminating Bronzer in Maui or Antigua.
What the Muse Says:
Nothing says bronzer like pink for me. Yes, you can look equally sunny with a hint of bronzy pink for cheeks and face! It doesn’t always have to be about brown!
As the economy continues to keep us awake at night maybe bronzers are the furthest thing from your mind. If you happen to have a MAC MSF stashed away somewhere you can recycle it as a killer a bronzer for cheeks!
Try buffing some MAC Mineralized Skin Finish in a golden shade (I suggest Shimpagne) onto cheeks. Spice it up by applying Stila Convertible Color
underneath and a splash of your MSF on top for a sparkling, sunny look!
What the Muse Says:
MAC Mineralized Skin Finish are ideal as a bronzer since many are golden or bronze in color and have that pretty bronze look to them. Since many of us already have these in our stash you don’t have to spill out cash for a new bronzer, simply use what you already have!
When all else fails and you’re simply a bronzer dummy (like me!) you can turn to some great liquid bronzers to make application a breeze!
Tip: Liquid and cream bronzers are easy to smooth onto cheeks and create just a great a glow as powder. They also wear quite long too!
What the Muse Says:
Liquid bronzers are easier for me to apply as it’s a simple dab and blend technique. I love Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Liquid Bronzer for this reason. DuWop SunDrops are on my list for this reason! Ahh simple, blissfully easy bronzing at it’s best! I’m testing our Josie Maran Argan Bronzing Oil too at the moment, LOVE!
The Muse is no expert when it comes to bronzers but hopefully some of these tips and tricks help you to get the most of your bronzing experience. Breaking up bronzers and using different techniques for application and of course experimenting with other shades, colors, and products make the normal ho-drum bronzer into a new adventure!
Tell me some of your tips for the best bronzer application!

Clarins Instant Sun Light Collection continues to hold much of my attention this Summer. Shrug, even though it rains everyday I can still get my Summer on with good lip balm which is why I’m all about Clarins Instant Sun Light Lip Balm. Far be it from me to argue with Clarins but this is so much more than a mere lip balm. Lip Balm doesn’t quite sum these up so I’ll rechristen them lip glosses thanks so much!
Click ahead to hear the rave!
Clarins Instant Sun Light Lip Balm is a nourishing lip treatment with color and an SPF of 6. The balms are available in two shades for $20 USD each. Personally as I mentioned above I see these as more of a gloss than a balm. They have a nice slick formula with a glossy finish minus stickiness. They wear quite long as well which is surprising as most glosses that do not have a fair bit of tackiness fail to stick around long on my lips but these manage to stay on nearly half way through the day without slipping and sliding off. Although the formula is lovely enough I think for the most part I’m quite in love with the two shades available.
Sunset Bronze is a delightful shimmering cocktail of brown and gold and Sunset Coral is a sweet pop of coral minus shimmer. Sunset Bronze is ideal for pairing up with a bronze look and has enough glitz to make lips look glossy, full, and sparkly. Sunset Coral is pretty much a matte liquid paint minus shimmer or sparkle of any kind but this doesn’t take away from it’s appeal as the shade is quite a nice pop of coral that goes well with fresh, peachy cheeks (might the Muse suggest pairing it up with Super Orgasm
Note: I’m wearing Gold Rush on my eyes from my earlier review
of the new Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Shadows.
Clarins Instant Sun Light Lip Balm is well worth checking out and Muse Approved for purchase. Loving these and most definitely a top pick for super, glossy Summer lips this season!
Available now from Clarins.
Anyone try yet?

Hopefully by now everyone got their MAC Style Warrior groove on! The collection had some tempting offerings and even though I didn’t haul
big I still came out blessed with quite a few items that should get me through Summer and well into Fall. That’s one great thing about MAC Summer, it normally ends up that the colors are so warm that I feel quite content and happy using them into Fall. Such is the case with Style Warrior Shadows Soft Force and Tempting!
Jump ahead for a muse….
Pretty difficult to resist the allure of beautiful shades like these. Tempting is a beautiful rich brown and Soft Force frosty white gold. Perhaps Soft Force isn’t anything particular to write home about but I think it’s pretty special when combined with Tempting for a deep smoky eye look that’s quite gorgeous. Both shades aren’t entirely Summer friendly in my opinion but they definitely have a strong appeal for when the cooler weather sets in plus I do so admit that each does possibly look good with a bit of bronzer.
Either way I highly recommend nabbing Soft Force and Tempting before they are gone for good. I was quite surprised (and delighted) that although the economy lays low, MAC is still going well as many Style Warrior displays I’ve seen are pretty much empty. You can see me wearing both shades in an FOTD here.
Anyone haul these?
Loving on ‘em?
The Muse knows not everyone is up for outrageous color in their lives but I’m all about it. Which is why I’m lovin’ all over Pop Blush Cake for sizzling, Summer cheeks! Loves it!
Peep at ‘em after the jump. They are my new must have Summer blush.
I got two of these recently from Sephora (‘ello clearance time!) in Pretty In Pink and Warm In Sienna. The blushes are housed in a cute little tiny and contain strips of popping variations of color. Warm In Sienna contains beautiful peaches, corals, and beige where as Pretty In Pink contains sheer pinks, louder berries, and a fair bit of shimmer.
Both blushes are absolutely stunning and I’m truly adoring them at the moment. Sadly, most Sephora’s have sold out of these but you can head to Pop Beauty
as they are available in both shades for $18 each.
Warm In Sienna is recommended for darker skin tones and Pretty In Pink is for medium skin tones. Honestly, either should work with any skin tone with a lighter or heavier hand (depending how you like to apply). They are incredibly pigmented and silky smooth! Loves ‘em!
Well worth adding them to your Summer makeup collection if you’re a fan of popping shades of blush! So worthy of a Muse Approval!
Let me tell you a cute little story. My x-boyfriend is a vegetarian and I can’t recall but at the time we were discussing bacon for some odd reason or another. Him being a veggie eater he had never even tasted bacon in his life but he proceeded to make me snort myself silly when he said, “but I really like the smell of it….!” LOL ahhh the irony.
Well the lead in to that story is maybe an ideal gift for him would be bacon lip balm!
Maybe, just maybe Cheetos Lip Balm doesn’t cut it. Maybe you feel the need for more fat in your diet. Whatever the case may be J&D (whoever the hell they are) has it’s own Bacon Flavored Lip Balm.
Indeed you read that right.
For a mere $3.99 you can own yourself a slice of pig in a balm. Think how appealing you’ll be to your loved one tasting just like fatty bacon. J&D promises that this balm will remind you constantly why bacon is the king of all meats (silly me though lobster was the king of all meats).
Ok J&D we’ll take your word for it.
If you have a yearning for more bacon you can purchase you tube here but I wish you wouldn’t.
I recently fell in love with Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sun Block
because of it’s rather nifty little price tag and it’s SPF of 85+! Kaching! Thanks Neutrogena I just saved $30 bucks! I purchased it at CVS for under $10 or so, um hello awesome considering my normal SPF is in the $40-$50 range.
Speaking of sun protection Neutrogena has some simple tips for protecting your skin this Summer (and all times) and an interesting survey about the habits of sun protection in the US.
Click for it.
I found it interesting reading!
Americans are obviously not as responsible as we may believe in protecting themselves against the sun. I knew it, I just knew it! One more reason to move to Asia, Asian chicas take sun protection super serious (as does a Muse). Neutrogena commissioned a survey of over 2000 Americans to learn their sun protections habits and the word is out that 60% rarely or never use sunscreen. Ahh in 20 years they can use their skin as a belt or make a nice leather purse with it!
The survey revealed:
- 80% of adults agree that sun exposure can be deadly (so why aren’t you using sunscreen people?)
- 70% reported getting sunburned at least once per a year.
- 13% apply sunscreen daily (I’m so embarrassed by these numbers!)
Americans obviously are not taking the idea of sun protection as serious as they should. Not only does the sun age skin but skin cancer is a very real disease!
Here’s a few simple rules to follow everyday, every season, whether the sun is out full blown or not.
- Sunscreens should be applied to dry skin 15 to 30 minutes before going outdoors.
- The higher the SPF, the better the protection.
- Sunscreen should be applied liberally and evenly to all uncovered skin.
- Reapply at least every two hours, or according to the product’s instruction (depending on what you use and if you’re in water you can skip this step)
Sun protection is an important topic all year round. Just because it’s Summer you shouldn’t drop everything and worry about SPF. The fact is you should drop everything and be worried about it 12 months out of the year as it’s an important anti-aging step and also good protection against possible skin cancer disease.
What are you sun protection tips?
What are your fav SPF’s?
I’d love to hear ‘em!
This one is only for the chica’s who are looking for brushes at the moment or need some basic brushes to start a collection. I’m a big fan of MAC brushes, they have pretty much taken over my collection however they are costly.
Check out the NYX Brush Kit! Get more for ALOT less.
Like I said this is kinda for anyone that 1. wants to save money and 2. anyone who doesn’t have a ton of brushes and wants a complete brush set to do makeup with. The NYX Brush Set is $144.20 USD and includes 18 brushes (plus a brush belt)! I can’t speak for quality as I haven’t used these but the price rounds out at about $8 per a brush which is quite a nice deal. It pretty much covers every brush you’ll need as well which makes it all the more appealing.
- Blush Brush
- Cheek Cream Brush
- Foundation Brush
- Powder Brush
- Flat Top Skunk Brush
- Fan Brush
- Flat Brush
- Blender Brush
- Eye Primer Brush
- Crease Brush
- Shadow Brush
- Shading Brush
- Smoky Brush
- Brow Brush
- Liner Brush
- Cover Up Brush
- All Purpose Brush

I dunno if anyone is willing to shell out $145 on the spot but I can’t complain that the price is right (Is it ok to lem it for myself even though I have more brushes than I know what to do with already?). If you’re want it, click it to get it!
Anyone use NYX brushes?
The Muse has been so busy lately she hasn’t had a visit or a stop by on the Lush UK forum in a long, long time. That being said it means she isn’t as updated on what is being released from Lush. Ugh how remiss of her!
Well….a little late to this ball game but better later than never. Allow me to introduce you to Lush’s latest skincare gem entitled Dark Angels Cleanser.
Hm! Count me curious!
Jump ahead for it!
I happen to be a fan of Lush Coal Face so I’m quite curious about Lush Dark Angels Cleanser. Although I do so admit that they appear to be quite similar?
Dark Angels is supposedly a powerful cleanser designed for younger, oily skin, and darker skin. I find it interesting that Lush designed a cleanser meant for darker skin. I’m wondering what that entails and I’m looking forward to hearing reviews from anyone with a darker tone. It’s supposedly a cleansing roll which could mean it’s not solid and more along the lines of Angels on Bare Skin where you are breaking off pieces to use. The base of the product is Rhassoul mud which is purchased directly from mines in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains (yes I know sounds exotic but knowing Lush’s environmental stance I imagine it’s very true). It also contains charcoal which absorbs oil and scrubs skin clean. Rosewood and sandalwood essential oils keep skin smooth.
It doesn’t honestly sound exactly like Lush Coal Face in formula or texture but the charcoal definitely hints at the fact it could likely be quite similar in results. I’m quite curious. I think I may indulge. I’m neither young nor oily but anything Lush skin related always tops my lists. It’s Summer so I imagine my forehead can use a good scrub down to keep it from being oily. The worst it could do is dry me out.
w00t! Funny thing I was just raving FaceFront Cosmetics Cheek Up Blush and now it’s on sale at 40% Off. Sweetness!
If you’ve been lemming now is a great time to haul as the blushes are under $10 bucks and I promise they are a HUGE size and very pigmented!

I know, I know you’re probably a bit tired of all my ravings about Victoria’s Secret Pool Party Collection already. I’m sowrry but I can’t help myself I’m really enjoying this collection!
I promise this is my last review! Today I’ll be giving you some brief deets about the brand new Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Lip and Cheek Pop plus a few swatches thrown in for good measure.
Click it to learn more!
Ok, first off, prior to my review, I need to tell you to go out and grab these now. If you’re yearning for ‘em don’t wait as they are completely sold out on the website and many Victoria’s Secret stores I’ve passed by have maybe one color at the most. So hurry, hurry! Get ‘em fast!
Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Lip and Cheek Pop are basically packaged in a deodorant style, swivel up tube. Just swirl the dial and the stick slides upwards for application. Swipe across cheeks or lips and you’re done. You’ll get a very subtle pinch of color that’s quite pretty. One of the novel things about these cute little blushes is the fact that they are cooling on your skin. As you apply you’ll feel a burst of coolness on your cheeks which is rather refreshing, too cutes!
The Cheek Pops come in three shades which are Peach Pop (coral, orange combo), Berry Cooler (fuchsia), and Pink Splash (pink). The sticks are pretty budget friendly as they are three for $15 USD. If you prefer your blush a bit darker you may need to swipe two or three times for decent color payoff or just once for a very sheer layer. I was pleasantly surprised at how long the color lasts. I started my day off with it on in the AM and was delighted when my sister said, “Oh it’s still wearing well..!” at around 5 PM that same day. I do think they look way better on cheeks than lips.
The only minor rant I have is the top is a clear plastic top so it kinda looks like I lost the cap on these. They look a bit unfinished if that makes sense. It seems they ran out of cash to get a proper lid on these LOL! Aside from that I generally liked these and thought they were a rather great beauty budget find.
Definitely head in store to try ‘em out as testers are available. Overall, for the price you can’t go wrong. A rather cute little budget friendly option for natural, fresh Summer makeup! Loves it!
Sportin’ Berry Cooler on lips and cheeks minus foundation with a touch of gloss on top of the stain!

Oh Happy Days! Pop Cosmetics is now being sold at Bath and Body Works. Since it’s demise from Sephora I did so worry about where it would end up but have no fear it’s found a new home at Bath and Body Works! The line isn’t extensive but it does have a few pieces I haven’t seen as of seen which look promising. They are having a sale at the moment as well since many of the pieces are marked at $15 USD when purchasing one at regular price, sweet!
