WANT IT: SilkyGirl BB Cream

I dunno why but the Singaporean population flocks to Vox to blog. What’s this mean? It basically means I’m probably lurking around Vox reading gorgeous Singaporean chick blogs. They always have such great finds on there. It’s terribly addicting.

My latest find?

SilkyGirl BB Cream! ‘ello awesome! Omg!

Learn more after the jump!

Although SilkyGirl isn’t a Singaporean brand it is sold in ‘pore. It actually originates in Malaysia and basically is this cheapy, cheesy drugstore brand with a pretty large cult following. Translated: cheap but good quality.

When I recently seen a blogger from ‘pore waxing the good word about a new release from SilkyGirl I was all over it. SilkyGirl BB Cream looks dreamy! It’s about $6-$8 bucks in USD so it’s way cheap. It comes in two shades, has an SPF 25, and looks like it could be super nice. I’m a picky person when it comes to BB’s but I’m all about the cheap factor.

Want it?

Hells yes.

My little sis, plue, is on the case to snag me one. Be on the look out for a review upcoming shortly.

Hey… I’m mad about BB creams as well, but not that mad as you cuz I only have 2 so far. hehe!

How’s this Silky girl BB so far? I can’t find the review yet so, sorry to ask u for special request. 🙂

    • the Muse

hey angie I love bb’s b/c they don’t oxidize on my face as quickly as reg foundation 😀

haven’t tried this silky girl one yet but def will get a review shortly for ya, I love reader requests so no worries 🙂

  • Angie Twe

    😀 Happy!

Haha, I really love your replies. Thank you so much…!

For the Silky brand, I suggest you can put your money on some where else. I don’t think it would be great, I think its nothing special, as compared to Korean brands.. I think. I’ll stick to Koreans for their BB creams. 😀

    • the Muse

aw angie you’re most welcome, I’m sometimes really delayed with replies but know I’ll be sure to get to you 😀 Love talking to everyone!

Koreans DEF do BB’s the best no doubt about it 😀 but I’ll still buy anyway out of morbid curiosity 😀

silkygirl’s product not good at all, their eyeliner’s colour can wipe out easily, once you sweat, thats mean all gone. and the bb cream makes me feel oily, and look unnatural.=(

    • the Muse

aw sorry to hear bei. 🙁 I was looking forward to trying the bb! thanks for the heads up!

I’ve tried this Silky Girl’s BB cream a month or two ago.
I bought it reluctantly due to a friend’s constant prompting to try out.
    Sadly, it’s not good.
I won’t say it’s exceptionally bad but it’s nothing compared to the Hydro Splash BB cream (from THEFACESHOP) which I usually use.
It does covers up your skin more or less a little, but it’s nowhere near the Hydro Splash if you were to compare them both.
Silky Girl’s products in common are not too good, not necessarily that bad, but try using Korean facial products ’cause it’s much better and you’ll see the difference after multiple tryings.
You may wanna try out the Hydro Splash instead of the Silky Girl’s, it’s much better in quality.
And oh, the Hydro Splash BB cream brings out a nice fragrance aside from making your skin delicately soft too. 🙂

aw sorry to hear esther 😛 I like hydro splash, pretty nice but the face shop bb’s on a whole aren’t my bag. Prefer Skin79 or Shills. thanks for the comment dear 🙂

      Hey Esther and Muse 😛
I have to agree that Silkgirl BBcream is not good.

I’m using The Face Shop Hydro Splash BB cream as well and I love it.
Not full but near prefect coverage, just enough for me and not to overdone such that my friends don’t know that I put on BBcream. 😀
Oh, for me, I like to put on just a little bit of loose powder, makes skin look flawless. 😀 Might wanna try that out girls. 😛

Skin79 BBcream sounds interesting. Might try that out when I finish using mine. 😛

Hi.I just wanna ask you something about NARS illuminator stick.is it any good?

  • dawn

Hey!I discovered your site and love it.i’m from singapore, and personally don’t like Silkgirl’s brand of BB cream. It feels oily and strange.
However,i’m a loyal fan of Silkgirl cosmetics as its cheap and good(not fantastically good, but good enough!) I’ve been using Silkygirl’s longwearing eyeliner and eyelights(coloured eyeliners which can be smudged and blended like eyeshadows) for several years and they’re great for adding a touch of eyepopping colours to my lins without being overpowering.Love silkygirl eyelights in Olive green,Gold and Bronze..you might want to try those if you’re interested and able to get a hold of them.My skin type’s normal and not oily,so the eyeliners do stay on(except for slight fading) for the whole day despite singapore’s crazily humid weather.
The eyeshadows don’t have much staying power and pretty faint,so its nothing to shout about:)

hi dawn aw thanks so much! glad you’re enjoying it!

awesome thanks for the recommendations ;-D

    Hi there.
I’ve been using Silky Girl Magic BB Cream for 4 months. I got 01 Natural. I have combination-oily skin and SG BB cream has poor oil control and the staying power is not good also but enough to keep my skin hydrated. The coverage is sheer to medium. It’s easy to blend and did not oxidize in my face. 1 tube can really goes a long way.
So if u’re looking 4 product that has good oil control, full coverage, and good staying power, It is not suited for u.
I like ur blog 🙂 ur review and picture are so great!

Trust me you DO NOT want to try this. I have never tried a worse product in my life, the colour looks unnatural, it cakes, it creases, it’s oily, it has no staying power to speak of and it broke me out. In short, please don’t waste your money on this, not even to satisfy your curiosity. Usually I have a lot of patience with products I think are bad; I keep them and try them out every once in a while, thinking of how to apply it differently or something. Basically I always give products a second (and even third or fourth) chance. This is the only product I’ve chucked straight to the bin. May I also say that Silkygirl is DEFINITELY not a “cheap but good quality” brand. I’ve tried their BB cream, foundation, blush, eyebrow pencil, eyeshadow, eyeliner, lip gloss and lipstick, and there is not a single product I liked. I’d say only their blush and lipstick were tolerable. I didn’t try their mascara, but my cousin did and she said it was horrible. In conclusion, please DO NOT buy Silkygirl products, girls! I’m from spore (so no bias there), and i’ve used tonnes of their products,
so I know what I’m talking about.

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. you can try it yourself before heard what people say. any product either expensive or cheap if not suit, not suit as well. cheap but good.:)
