Bizarre or Unusual Beauty Secrets 101

We all know celebs are out there living the high life, we should all be so lucky and of course with all that money floating about one is bound to get bored. The Muse’s theory is the more money you have the more likely you are to adapt a bizarre, possibly unusual beauty regime. It’s true right? You have a ton of cash and you’ve tried every lotion and potion on the market and now you’re bored…might as well try something different to spice things up right?

Check out some possibly unusual beauty treatments that celebs and share your own!

Catherine Zeta-Jones
Strawberries
Malic acid acts as an astringent to remove discoloration on teeth. Combining with baking powder, strawberries become a natural way to clean teeth.

Cindy Crawford
Milk
Cleopatra was well known for bathing in milk and honey. Milk is a luscious skin treat when it is added to bath water. Milk exfoliates, softens and nourishes the skin.

Debra Messing
Snake Venom
Supposedly is a great ingredient in anti-wrinkle treatment. I haven’t seen any skin care sporting it as of yet but than again I don’t have Debra Messing’s bank account, must be shopping in the wrong places!

Jennifer Love Hewitt
Toothpaste
Ahhh we’ve all tried this home remedy I’m sure, a little dab of toothpaste for my pimples. Toothpaste acts as a mask treatment to dry out pimples and reduce their size. Some toothpastes contain menthol or alcohol which accounts for the drying properities and the reduction of a pimple size.

Sandra Bullock
Hemorrhoid Cream
Personally anything that’s normally used for your butt would not be touching my face but if Sandra Bullock likes it good for her! Supposedly it’s great for wrinkles.

Halle Berry
Coffee
The idea is to mix coffee with some sort of body lotion to buff away cellulite. Can’t say if it works but plenty of people swear by it!

Julia Roberts
Olive Oil
Rubbing olive oil into nails and cuticles will keep them soft and moisturized

Eva Longoria
Placenta Protein
Word on the street is that placenta contains highly proteins, vitamins, and such to help skin regenerate.

Teri Hatcher
Wine
Dunno if Teri’s drinking in it or bathing in it although the Muse has heard that a glass of vino a day keeps the old ticker beating happy and healthy…not sure about skin though!

Do you have any unusual beauty regimes?

Me, I don’t think I really have any. I’m not one for trying out home remedies and the likes so I can’t say I really used any of the above treatments.

How about you?

Share ’em!

P.S. I do not endorse any of the above treatments nor do I suggest you try them. I’m not a doctor or a dermatologist and have no way of knowing the effects of these treatments on skin. Always be safe when attempting anything new on your skin. This post is for entertainment purposes only. Whether or not if the following celebs actually use these treatments is entirely speculation please see the source for more information.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Olive oil and sugar is a fabulous body scrub. Mix it together and then scrub away, rinse off and it leaves your skin all soft. Also a tablespoon of honey, one egg yolk, one teaspoon of olive oil = a lovely face mask, especially if you follow it up with a natural Greek yogurt face mask too. I use neat tea tree oil for spots (should I get any, which is rare but that isn’t down to anything but luck :L ) and runny honey mixed with brown sugar to exfoliate my lips occasionally.
For all the money spent on lotions, potions, pentapeptides, the properties of super expensive beauty treatments, I’ve never found anything that I couldn’t reproduce with just a little know how with the things I have in the house already. I think some people are grossed out by them. ‘Eww you use egg on your FACE?!’ ‘Ugh olive oil on skin?’ but then show the results, turns out fabulous.

I like to wash my face with green tea powder.
It keeps my skin clear and it feels really clean afterwards.

When u have a bad burn or scratch or u may be scarred, use sesame seed oil.. heals reaalllllyy quick 🙂

For a night “cream” I think the absolute best thing is to cut open a capsule of evening prime rose oil and apply it to your face (i do my hands too…its the only thing that keeps them soft for more than 5 mins lol) before bed. It’s a little greasy at first but sinks right in, fades my smile line and heals acne too. I’ve heard of hemmoroid cream for puffy-eyes but never wrinkles…Meryl Streep loves to lay black-tea soaked washcloths over her in-between shoots or whenever she’s outside; and both Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor swore by Vaseline as a moisturizer…I love celeb “secrets” hehe. 🙂

hey christy…! rose oil is def great 😀 hemmoroid cream are a no go for me lol, can’t do ass cream on my face lol!

      @CHristy
You are SO right about Vaseline. I heard how Bette Davis wore it under her eyes and Marilyn smeared it on her face before going to bed. Because Vaseline molecules are bigger than your pores they don’t clog, and because it’s completely occlusive every cream/treatment you put on your face STAYS there. It feels sorta gross, but I go to sleep in it and wake up looking amazing (after I wash it off my face)and my pores shrink. It really just keeps all you beauty products right on your skin. Sometimes I get sick of slathering icky Vaseline all over my face, so I skip it for a week, my skin looks sad and pores get big until I start with the Vaseline again.

My skin can be prone to break outs and I find the best thing to do is to dissolve a few tablets of aspirin in a little bowl and add a little honey to create a thicker consistency then apply to face for 15mins as a face mask. Aspirin contains Salicylic acid which is the MAIN ingredient in spot cream/masks which you pay 10 or more for and is great for reducing redness and spot size. Also when you wash off the mask it exfoliates the skin and leaves it silky smooth! Remember to splash your face with cold water before drying with a towel to reduce pore size! 🙂 x

I use asprin or baking soda and mix it into a paste and put in on my pimples…I had good luck with tooth paste that contained baking soda for drying them out but it was weird having a minty smelling face so I tried this and it works well! lol…. I also use strawberry and lil honey for a mask when my skin is a little dull..its good for radiance…and I never buy body scrubs anymore I take salt or sugar and mix it with olive oil for abody scrub!!and you dont even need lotion after so its a double!

  • Liane

I also use baking soda to exfoliate. I just add some to my cleanser. It works better than any scrub I’ve ever used.

  • Allie

I use olive oil or coconut oil for my eyelashes to make them grow longer. They’re ood for your hair too, supposedly.
