Bare Minerals Extreme Glimmers Review
The Muse got all kinds of hyped when she seen the new edition of the Bare Minerals Extreme Glimmers Kit available on Sephora today. In honor of my excitement I thought I’d give you a peep at last year’s collection. This particularly set is still available on QVC and probably on Sephora too but don’t quote me on that as I haven’t been over to check.
Take the jump for the pictures and review.
If you’ve hauled MAC Solar Bits you’ll pretty much understand the texture of Bare Minerals Extreme Glimmers. These are super chunky flakes of pigment that are incredibly difficult to work with but oh so pretty.
Each pot is around 0.03oz or so in size think a little bit bigger than a US quarter and you’ll have the right size. The size could prove disappointing but honestly since each glimmer is so crazy pigmented you don’t need a whole lot to get one eye done.
They are a problem in regards to fall out and there is no easy way to apply. The general idea is you have to kinda of pat them in place and apply enough pressure so the “flakes” burst into a looser pigment. I had to use a similar technique with MAC Solar Bits but dare I say that those were easier to work with where as these are bigger flakes and just hard to apply in general, major glitter fest.
Once you do have them applied they make for a very pretty eye look if you like a shimmer finish. You get a total of three shades, a small primer, and a mini brush for application. I’d skip the primer and head straight for a MAC Paint Pot or a better base to adhere the pigment to as simple primer won’t cut it.
The shades included are a chocolate brown, a darker shade of lilac purple, and a pure white. I remember when I hauled this I was somewhat disappointed the colors didn’t exactly go well together but honestly you’ll only be using a shade at a time as using all three or even two is lethal to anyone’s sanity as blending a single one is hard…imagine two? or three for that matter.
This year it seems they made an array of more festive colors such as a gold. Last year the shades were a mix of Fall and Winter but not so much fitting for the Holiday aside from possibly the white.
Overall, even though application is a pain in the backside I still liked the kit. It’s a tad on the costly side due to the smaller pot sizes but like I said a little goes a very long way. I love the cute cardboard packaging as well which keeps the pigments all safe and sound plus it stores easily as well.
Anyone haul this last year?
