Beauty Abroad: Banila Co De La Couture II

Banila Co De La Couture II2

Banila Co hits the Fall scene with a brand new…ahem…a rehashed release of De La Couture II. If you’re a fond fan of Korean makeup you probably remember last year’s release of Banila Co De La Couture. I imagine they took the idea and just ran with it again this year. Although it’s new items and new colors it does still fail to wow me into believing I absolutely need it and can’t breath without it. Dare I say last year’s colors were actually more exciting!

Jump ahead for the deets.

The release includes quite a few items but none really caught and held my interest. As I was saying above I did think that the original release of De La Couture was way more flattering. This fails to bring back those softer Fall shades and is just a mix of unflattering browns, nudes, and grays. Meh.

But here’s the details for your viewing pleasure!

As you can see it’s a pretty uneventful lot or at least for me it is. The only item that did get me curious was the dual powder which quite reminded me of MAC’s Split MSF that was released a few months ago. Aside from that the rest are just ho-hum items.

Banila Co is a Korean based company so you do have to either be in Korea to purchase the items or have a look around E-bay maybe if you’re lucky you can score some or if you’re lucky enough to have a friend to pick it up for you.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I got the eyeshadow palette because I’m dumb and collect pretty palettes but really it’s not worth it. The colours aren’t great, and you’re right, last year’s palette’s shades were so much nicer (and I never managed to get one, boo hoo).
What’s worse is that the pan on the very left of the palette is a creamy eyeshadow primer. Nice idea but combine cream and powder products in a palette and what do you get? One very messy cream pan with stray powder particles sticking in it. Eurgh.

The only thing that saved this collection for me was the fact that they’ve got a new model advertising it (Heather Marks, I think) which makes a nice change from the one girl they’ve used for the last 6 collections!

I figured Bora. I am so so so mad at myself for not getting last year’s round. I skipped b/c at the time it wasn’t interesting but now I’m like damn it had some nice pieces. yak…that’s like Kat Von D every single one of the palettes have one cream! HATE IT!

I didn’t see the new promo image with the new model…like to see that as it’s normally the same girl over ad over again. Thanks for the heads up. I’ll not be getting any of this. What did intrigue me was the cocabanana (spelling?) blush did you swatch? It looks kinda pretty but worried it’s frosty yak!

The girl in the image above that you’ve posted *IS* the new girl! Yeah, she does kinda look like the old one, but it’s Heather Marks and she is actually new 🙂

The Copacabana blusher is a bit frosty , very light and not very pigmented. I’m around an NC 35 and on me it would only work as a highlighter not a blusher. It reminded me a bit of MAC’s beauty powders, except with a bit more frost.

well DOH! I was too busy to actually look as she looked like the old girl

ummm ya sounds like I so do not need copacabana my face is too full to pull off frost yak!

          😀

i love banila co~! but this collection IS rather disappointing… too similar to the last one, on first glance. i’ll have to swatch and see for myself how they are in real life, though 🙂 musey, you’re always ahead of me with the korean brands, even though i’m the one actually living there 😀 hiromix

i’ve been a bit sick… but all better now~ i’m a big skinfood fan but when it comes to concealers i’m a ysl touche eclat devotee ;)… though you have this power to make me try out things hehe you gotta tell me which concealer & brightening powder~! there are so many…did you do a review? recently i only went there to haul nail polishes.

btw i like the etude house ‘moistfull’ collection 🙂 especially the collagen cream.

how come you changed the design of musings? but it’s good to overhaul the design from time to time! kudos for the effort of updating your blog. that’s one of the reasons we love it~~!

aw glad you’re better doll! I did a review on one so far. It’s the Skin Food Salmon Collection. It has a slew of eye creams, concealers, and a whitening powder. I reviewed the concealer so far and love it 😀
I like the moistful range too. I’m always amazed it works as it obviously seems to have alcohol in it or at least it smells like it does.

I didn’t actually change it. I migrated from blogger to wordpress and my old theme works with blogger only. but a new template should be love soon 😀

          hehe!

          Hugs!
