Lipstick Queen Chinatown Glossy Pencil Review and Swatches
With names like Chinatown Chase and Chinatown Thriller the Muse can’t help be tickled by the Lipstick Queen Chinatown Glossy Pencil. Seriously, I’m a total grindhouse movie geek and the names just reminds me of some cheesy little flick that features chases through Chinatown in beat up Monte Carlo Chevrolets with hot chicks at the wheel and possibly bad dubbing. Bad dubbing always makes grindhouse movies the awesome doesn’t it?
If hot chicks are involved in I’m betting they have juicy, glossy lips and who knows maybe they are reaching for Lipstick Queen Glossy Pencils to do the job up good.
Take the jump to watch this grindhouse movie unfold.
After reading some of my past reviews I’m sure by now you’ve realized I have a certain fondness ahem obsession with Lipstick Queen products. Being privy to release after release of awesome lip products from the brand lately makes me giddy. Present me with a chubby lipstick pencil that promises me glossy lips totally chuffed me silly.
What are they?
Big, old chubby pencils of moisturizing lipstick that leave behind pigmented a pinch of color.
The formula is incredibly moisturizing and very similar to Lipstick Queen Medieval but a bit more pigmented. They glide onto lips easily and flawlessly for a killer look. The name is a little misleading as they aren’t terribly glossy but more of a moisturizing tint for lips. They don’t feel like your typical lipstick so they can’t fit into the standard format and they aren’t necessarily a balm either….basically they are in a category all their own. With a little gloss on top they create the illusion of fuller, yummier looking lips.
Available in five shades for $20 bucks each I deem them a great deal as they have a substantial amount of product per a stick. I’ve been playing around with the two I have for a over a month and never had to sharpener either as of yet. They come with their own jumbo sharpener and are packaged in really fabulous boxes featuring thrilling little scenes on each, gives you the grindhouse feel in my opinion.
The two shades I have are Thriller and Chase. Thriller is a true red where as Chase is more of an orange. I love Lipstick Queen but the website swatches are somewhat inaccurate as I did expect Chase to be more of a pink as per the site’s swatch but turns out it’s more of an orange red shade. No worries though both are gorgeous.
Sorry for the bad skin pictures. My skin was looking all kinds of tired and dull in these photos, sad sigh. I’m wearing Chinatown Thriller in the photo with some Too Faced Mirror, Mirror Lip Gloss on top.
If you have a bit of an lip fixation where you’re constantly reaching for gloss or balm to apply these will totally fit right in as I can’t help but whip them out ever 30 minutes and reapply. Color lasts fairly long for such a moisturizing formula and they are ideal for toting around with you.
Ahhh go on now I’m gushing aren’t I?
I’m just such a fan girl when it comes to Lipstick Queen.
Overall, a winner for me. Not my favorite Lipstick Queen product but definitely up there. Loves ’em!
Anyone try?
I know some of you had e-mailed me and said these were fab.
