Naturals By Lauren Hutton Natural Face Disc Review and Swatches

The Muse is almost positive she’s too young to enjoy the benefits of the new Lauren Hutton Natural Face Disc. This seemed the type of thing a more mature woman could take advantage of. However, you know the Muse, as adventurous as she is she decided to take this face disc for a spin. Hey, I love face discs in general so why not right?

What’s it about?

Take the jump to learn!

I’m not entirely sure why I was under the impression this would be best suited to someone with fine lines on their face and just general mature skin problems. Turns out it’s actually quite an impressive face disc plus 95% natural ingredients and a paraben-free formula should appeal to those of us who are green friendly makeup users.

The disc contains 11 makeup items for creating a perfectly flawless and natural face look or what Lauren Hutton refers to as “invisible makeup”. Invisible indeed as it creates a clean, natural look that’s quite flattering and makeup-less looking.

Although the face disc comes with instructions for concealing the signs of aging you can easily use it on younger skin for concealing spots, under eye circles, contouring your face, highlighting your highbrow, and much, much more. Those who are older and have fine lines to cover, wish to heighten the arch of their brow, conceal problem areas from older skin, etc….this was made specifically to embrace those problems so it’s a perfect all in one solution for older skin.

The disc comes with a color coded face chart and instruction booklet. The face chart uses color coded bars that pair up with those on the actual face disc for fool-proof application. The Muse happens to be one for slapping things together and creating her own application technique so she didn’t really follow along with the chart but it’s ideal for those who aren’t as daring.

The disc contains four smaller pots of concealer and one large. The larger I used to conceal dark circles and problems under my eyes. The other four can be mixed and combined to create a perfect shade for concealing spots or as a light application on sides of your nose and blended outward for a fresher, minimal makeup look. The products are not terribly pigmented but they are buildable. The buildable coverage actually makes them easy to work with as you aren’t over doing it since you can go back and build up as needed. Also included are basic point makeup items such as a blush, shadow, liner, lip balm, and eyebrow filler. I won’t go into great detail about the colors of each item but they are very basic nude shades which look unflattering in the compact but once on give a beautiful finish to face, cheeks, and mouth.

In my photo below I used everything in the compact and simply added my own mascara. As you can see it creates a flawless finish to my skin that’s very pretty. I was somewhat shocked at the results since the application involved is a very subtle smear of this and that but in the end the finish is beautiful and my skin is left looking healthy, fresh, and natural.

If you’re not a big makeup person or you work in an environment where makeup should be kept to a professional minimum this is an ideal compact for creating a softer, no makeup-like look. It’s also rather great for quick trips or errands where you aren’t wanting to appear in public sans your face.

All in all a surprising little compact from the Lauren Hutton line of makeup. Likey very much!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Ooo.. I’ve seen this on TV before… To apply, just follow the colours of the rainbow… hehe… start with red and finish with violet/purple…

    • the Muse

Just a quick note about parabens: I recently purchased Lauren Hutton’s Passport to Brazil makeup kit under the assumption that it was more “natural” and “safer”. Come to find out, it’s not even paraben-free — nor are the items in the face disk. You can check out the ingredients here: . Check out the safety ratings of the ingredients and Lauren Hutton products here: http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/. I have to say, I was pretty disappointed that the makeup wasn’t as natural/safe as it was billed to be.

    • the Muse

wow thanks Morgan! Didn’t know about this. I’ll go and have a look at those links. It’s billed as an organic product and certified….interesting!

I don’t recall ever noting the Pass To Brazil being advertised as “natural”. I’ve seen only the new face disc advertised as such.

I have been asking at the Lauren Hutton Cosmetics site FOR YEARS to see all the colors in the “Sunset Face Disc.” Anyone who looks in on the site will note that they only ever show a sliver of that disc. I can’t understand why they REFUSE to show me, as well as all of you, what that OPENED disc looks like! Most of my requests have been met by silence. Lately, though, and only after writing a rather scathing letter to them, I received a letter telling me I didn’t need to see all the colors because it was basically UP TO THEM to give me the refills they chose based on my skin tone in the classic disc. That doesn’t answer the question of WHAT COLORS ARE IN THE SUNSET DISC! I really don’t like being told that I get to pay for what they choose — lucky me! I don’t have $40 to blow on makeup that I may or may not like! Perhaps you or your readers can photograph an open Sunset Disc that they have purchased. Asking Lauren Hutton is a waste of time and energy!

    • the Muse

Sorry Laurie I don’t have that disc but hopefully another reader does and can comment about the shades!

This is so pretty! What a unique product, too. I’ve never seen this before. There are a bunch of cool new products that I’ve encountered recently that are made for more mature skin that I just wouldn’t find useful, but this one seems like it would work for me! I love multi-tasking products (well I guess this would be considered an “all-in-one” product) and the finish really does look so flawless on your skin! Super healthy and natural looking, indeed!

  • Margaret Swink

Please send me information on how I can purchase several of the light Lauren Hutton Face Discs. I know she quit making the product but I was hoping someone out there would have one or more sets still available for sale. I
want to buy two in the light color.

I love Laura Huttons make up disk but now I can’t find it to refill mine. Any recommendations on where to find her stuff? Thanks so much.
