Smashbox Lash DNA Mascara Review
Dude, remember that kid from A Christmas Story? Come on, who doesn’t traditionally (and compulsively) watch A Christmas Story every year. I mean it wouldn’t be Christmas without it right?
But anyway…..remember the catch line? Of course you do.
“You’ll shoot your eye out!”
This is so the problem with Smashbox Lash DNA Mascara. In this case I’m not going to shoot my eye out but I’m going to poke my eye out if I’m not careful.

Ok, so while I’m busy poking my bloody eye with this applicator I’ll go ahead and say it reminds me of a toilet cleaner brush. The brush is pretty unique as it has this twisted up figure eight thing going on, you know, like a toilet cleaner brush….
If you get the knack for using this you’re golden as it does actually lengthen incredibly well and gives great full lashes. Amazing. I really love it. Good solid, ink black formula that doesn’t flake or smudge plus makes my lashes look all fat and juicy!
The problem?
Well, you have to be a rocket scientist to use the applicator correctly because no way are you getting this on without poking an eye out or creating a gooey, gloppy mess of your lashes. After the initial learning curve, which was steep, I finally got the hang of it. You basically have to twirl the brush as you stroke it on….so the people who can’t chew gum and walk at the same probably should avoid this….those of us who multitask well can take full advantage. After learning the proper way to use the applicator I was pretty impressed with the length and volume it gave my lashes. It gave me noticeably thicker, fuller lashes with a bit of a dramatic flair, exactly how I like my mascara.
The bad news is that 1 out of 2 times you use it, it’ll you end up with a spidery, wet glob and create yourself a uni-lash. The formula being so thick and rich combined with the twisting applicator does make it a chore to perfect. If you slowly comb through with a little twist you end up with killer lashes. If you go fast and forget to make that twist you’ll end up with lashes all clumped together into a single uni-lash…not pretty.
Overall, I actually really liked it even though it had it’s pit falls. I’d probably even go so far as the Muse Approve it as it does create pretty dramatic lashes but…..some may find it a bit too cumbersome to use particularly if you’re clumsy so try not to poke an eye out if you do buy it.
Anyone try Smashbox Lash DNA Mascara yet?
