Hey Darlings!

You up for Musing a little MAC DSquared with me? How about a little sneak peek at the goods?

MAC DSquared Collection 2

Jump it!

This October MAC teams up with fashion duo Dean and Dan Caten (yes they are twins) of DSquared for a launch of a new makeup collection that’s based on their Fall and Winter 2009 runway show. DSquared was one of the few collections I paid particular attention to during Fashion Week as I always find their designs both fun, fabulous, and very wearable. Like their couture their collaboration with MAC is simple and wearable. Featuring minimal makeup looks with touches of interesting color, this Fall release is sure to please.

I’m not one for contouring my face but those who are will rejoice at the release of two shades of MAC Sculpt and Shape Powder. The compact contains two contrasting shades of matte powder to shape and contour your face.

Since hauling one of the MAC Tinted Lip Conditioners with the Hello Kitty release I admit to being a little obsessed with them. Hate the packaging, ‘ello germs…but absolutely adore the awesome color pay off and moisturizing formula. Fuchsia Fix is a beautiful deep pink. The shade is simply revamped packaging for the release as it’s already very much available from MAC.

Two shades of lippies make an appearance which are contrasting from nude to loud. Nude Rose is a sheer nude pink and Blood Red (the funnier of the two) is a pretty berry red.

And finally MAC Greasepaint Sticks which are quite a star in this show. If you’re not relishing the idea of the pot version these should appeal. Quite nifty as it can be used to line and define or use it as a base a la a shade stick. It’s a release of two shades which are V and B. V is a royal purple and B is a navy blue. Absolutely adore these.

Overall, if you’re a big fan of hauling MAC LE items particularly collaboration collections this should appeal. The packaging isn’t as elaborate as some past collaboration collections but the items involved make up for that, particularly the Greasepaint Sticks.

Are you hauling MAC DSquared when it releases October 1st?

What’s catching your fancy?

How does Nude Rose compare to UD’s Naked? Can I get away with one or do I need both?

Reply

the Muse September 24, 2009 at 9:38 am

kirsty go with naked. superior formula and the color is way nicer. This is a bit too nude where as naked has a bit more pink to it. Def do not not need both as Nude Rose isn’t all that special….now Naked that’s incredible :-D

DSquared was released in the UK yesterday so I took the time to swatch them both together and you were so right! I also grabbed some VAE, which was heavenly. Will need to stock up before it sells out!

I love the Greasepaint colors! (I hate the name as well, though. Hopefully it doesn’t refer to the texture. *Shudder* I mean, do they want us all to feel like football players?)

Also, I must admit to a lip conditioner obsession too. =) I only had one, now it’s gone, and I really want to buy another.

One last thing about it, I heard a lot good about that Mac Lip Erase, but i was wondering what you think (even if you didn’t have it), is it worth buying it?

honestly right now I absolutely ADORE Urban Decay Lip Primer Potion. I’ve heard reviews and people talking saying it was glorified chapstick but I love it! If you need something to prep before bolder shades of lipstick I highly rec the UD :-D Lip Erase is great if you have extremely pigmented lips and need to “erase” them prior to putting on gloss/lipstick.

Hope this helps!

I would have to agree, I love the Urban Decay Lip Primer Potion. I also like Aromaleigh’s Eye & Lip Primer, though I prefer it for the lips, not the eyes. They both do a nice job to help lipstick stay vibrant.

me too dd! Can’t say I tried the AL yet but I must say the UD is divine! It’s great for my darker, bolder lipsticks!
