Stila Bronzing Tinted Moisturizer Review and Swatches

It was a pretty crummy Summer around this little city.  Rain almost every weekend, kinda chilly and damp.   I’m still in shock it’s nearly Fall now and really if you’re not officially counting I’d say that New York has already stepped right into the season within a flash of Labor Day being over.

Me?

I adore Fall but I’m so not ready for it.  I’m still re-living my days of Summer especially cosmetic wise.   I can’t just let go of Summer quite yet which is why I’m still enjoying Stila Bronzing Tinted Moisturizer.   The good news is that little touches of Summer are pretty flattering seasonal shades for Fall.  The soft peachy glow of a bronzer will keep your face looking like you just stepped out of the sun but still manages to create an ethereal warmth that can only be associated with the falling leaves.

Jump ahead for a review, some swatches, and a babble or two.

Stila Bronzing Tinted Moisturizer is one of those terribly unflattering shades of blah.  I mean first squeeze and you end up with this weird mix of beige orange grossness that you really aren’t wanting to slather onto your face.  No worries though the Muse promises beautiful with this bronzing gel.

If I failed to mention in my last hundred posts, I’m so not a bronzer girl.  I simply hate bronzers but this past Summer I’ve kinda jumped on board and have really enjoyed experimenting with different bronzers.  Unlike powder bronzers,  Stila Bronzing Tinted Moisturizer takes the guest work out of proper application.  Squeeze a drop into your hand and touch onto cheeks and face, blend it out, and you’re done.  Instant “I’ve been to a tropical island” glow.  One of the best things about it is the fact that it applies so easily and blends flawlessly for just a tiny touch of peach.  It’s not orange nor is it muddy bronze, it’s simply a warm shade of peach that gives a nice hint of color that can be worn alone or with a bit of blusher on top.  Might the Muse suggest pairing it up with a little Benefit One Hot Minute.

If you’re still wanting to hang on to the warmth of Summer, it’s ok I get it, head on over to Stila and snag yourself a tube of instant tropical island in a tube.   It’ll give you the warmth of Summer and leave plenty of room left over for a seasonal touch of Fall to cheeks and face.

Loves it!

I’ll pass on this one. Bronzers NEVER work on me. I’m just too pale and my undertones don’t even lend themselves well to being tan. The closest thing to a bronzer I can pull off is NARS Orgasm, and that’s just because of the underlying gold that is sliiiightly similar to bronze.

This is interesting, because you’re fair as well. But it’s good that it works for you!

hey Mollie!

me too! I’m SOOOOOO not a bronzer girl but I’ve been playing around with alot of ‘em lately and found a few I really do like :-D I love Orgasm, have you tried Super O yet? :-D

I try to keep it very light when I apply so most, even muddy ones, give me a peachy undertone :D

Yeah, I tried Super O in a local Sephora and I really liked it a lot. It seemed pinker than Orgasm and also, I love glitter. :) Orgasm is great… it’s my favorite blush along with MAC’s Fleur Power! I use it when I want something shimmery and pretty.

Nope, not LE at all. Apparently it’s been around for a long time. It’s scary in the pan, sort of this bright, pinkish coral color, but it’s awesome on your cheeks! MAC classifies it as a satin, but I feel FP is more of… er, what do they call them? Sheertones? Pretty pigmented and layerable, but easily subtle if that’s what you want. No shimmer whatsoever in it, though.

mollie sounds incredible I’m obviously missing out :-D If it’s pigmented enough to layer up I’m on it :-D must get to mac to see!

Hi! I know you said this is a peachy color, but I have yellow-orange toned skin, so most bronzers just make me look red and muddy. I’m wondering, does this bronzer tend to give a more golden color or is it more on the red-brown side? I saw that you said neither, but peachy is still fairly pink! I’m looking for a liquid bronzer to put on my whole face that is more of a golden tone. Shall I try this one or can you suggest another one?
Thanks so much for your help!

hi tay

I’m not really sure. I’d say go and swatch it at sephora as I’m not getting red-brown from it? but more of a peach glow but it could look different on your tone. Have a swatch and see what happens :)

I really can’t suggest one as I’m not sure of your exact tone, I’m kinda a newbie bronzer girl and not good with recs for them :D

Sorry!
