The Body Shop Matte It Skin Primer Review

About the Muse

Does it make pores less visible ?

I hate the Smashbox primer too – makes me break out big time. Although it made my skin look fab for a whole day (and one day only , unfortunately).

lisha I so wish I can say. I have virtually poreless skin, due to dry skin, so I really can’t say if it fills pores well. I does create a good surface for foundation. Wish I could help a bit better 😀

omg yes me too. It makes me soooo itchy. sadly no go on fab skin as it tends to pill and roll off my skin grossness!

This product’s been around for years (repackaged several times) and as someone with very oily skin I’ve tried it on and off. Like you, I’ve found it rubbish as a mattifier. I hate that dry silicone primer feel too so gave this up as a bad buy. I was leaving a negative review on Makeupalley when I read a review below which recommended using it as a mixing medium for pigments. I gave it a go and I had one of those road-to-damascus conversion moments! I love this thing as a mixing medium for pigment. I just use the teeniest tiniest bit and mix into pigments sometimes for those occasions when I don’t feel like dealing with a loose powder product. It eliminates fallout when using pigments as a shadow and is good for using with a brush for precise work.

a much better soloution would be to strike a deal with mother nature to send so of your hot weather my way. seriously like so close to taking my duvet with me to school!

I love the body shop and bought this primer for my shiny shiny (very shiny especially in the summer) nose and was sad to say it didn’t work…. but it does kind of make your foundation last just a tiny tiny bit longer so that was a plus =)

    • the Muse

same for me Kit! I liked it as a prep for my foundation and it did keep it a bit fresher but shine was still there sadly 🙁

  • Jin

It’s such a shame it doesn’t work 😡 If not, I would have run down to nearest The Body Shop after work today! It’s summer all year here (& recently its been getting WHOA SO HOT!!) so anything that claims it’ll mattify will definitely make it to my WANT IT list XD

      Hey Jin

Sadly no go for oily skin at least in my case. But I liked it as a prep and prime for my face. 😀

    heey
Does anybody or you know how long I can use this primer before I have to get a new one?

    • the Muse

      hi M

I’d assume you’d run out without 6 months to a year and that’s plenty enough for new one!

  • Sara

Can i use this primer for eyes ?????
will it work as eye primer??????

    • the Muse

hi sara no it’s for your face hun. You’re best getting primer for your eyes not using face primer on your eyes.

      Hope this helps.

    • the Muse

my pleasure sara. try urban decay primer potion, best eye primer imho!

  • Sara

I want to ask Can Concealer act as Eye Primer??????
Can i use Concealer as a Eye primer?????

    • the Muse

in my experience it creases sara if you use concealer as a primer. Try an eye shadow primer that’s meant for the task hun. Urban Decay makes one, Bare Escentuals, Too Faced, etc…they all have eye shadow primers. Also MAC shadestick and paint pots work well.
