Bobbi Brown Holiday 2009: Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss Trio Review and Swatches

So yeah…Mondays are so not my best day. You’ll have to excuse me as I wanted to review the Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss Trio for you but I confused the shades and included one of the new Bobbi Brown Rich Color Gloss in the mix. The good news is you’ll get a dual kind of review as I can show you what the new glosses look like plus you can see some of the trio colors.

It’s Monday these things happen. Bare with me peeps and promise to still lurve me k?

Jump ahead to hear the good word.

The Muse stopped at Nordie’s this weekend, actually I stopped everywhere. My best friend Libby is here from England so I shopped until I dropped literally (she may need to rent her own plane to get all the stuff she brought back home). The good news is Nordstrom has the entire Bobbi Brown Holiday Collection 2009 already. It’s all there for your hauling pleasure. The only thing they didn’t have out was what I wanted…Bobbi Brown Chrome Eye Shadow…but no worries I asked and my MA came running out of the back with them. I’ll tell you about those later but for now I have some swatches of the new Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss Trio Gift Set.

As I mentioned above I did screw up on this and included one of the Bobbi Brown Color Rich Gloss in with the photos and swatches, sorry about that. Let me take a second to babble about these……These are rather fab. Incredibly pigmented and nice formula. They aren’t terribly glossy and remind me more of a lip cream but they are still quite killer in regards to color pay off so that alone could get you hyped.

As for the trio…..it’s $40 for three glosses. Considering Bobbi’s glosses are $20 each this is like buying two and getting one free. You get Marina Pink Sheer Color Gloss, Pink Blossom Lip Gloss, and Cocoa Sugar Shimmer Lip Gloss. It pretty much covers warm and cool shades in this lot. One thing I don’t love about Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss is they are small and a bit expensive which is why this is an ideal set because I feel like I’m spending alot less and getting more. I find the texture and formula of the gloss is pretty brilliant. The shades range from sheer to pigmented with Cocoa Sugar having the best color payoff and Marina Pink being the sheerest while Pink Blossom is in the middle of the two. Marina Pink is my favorite as it’s a very sheer berry gloss where as Pink Blossom is a lovely bubblegum pink. I’m not loving Cocoa Sugar as the color is a bit too dark on my lips.

Overall, I think the set is a super deal for those who are kinda put off BB’s glosses because of size and price. I honestly didn’t love all the shades included and felt like Marina Pink was the best of the lot but the deal to be had is a good one. Next year hopefully they include some better shades.

Likey but not a love.

Anyone have it on their Holiday wish list?

Good to see that Bobbi Brown’s finally sorted out the Color Rich Gloss. She’s been trying and discontinuing pigmented colours glosses for the past few years. Did you ever see the Cream Colour Glosses about 5 years ago? They’d been a really popular product with a doe foot applicator, and in all their wisdom, the Bobbi Brown development team decided it needed a brush applicator, but it was the worst kind EVER. It splayed instantly and after a couple of uses ended up looking like a toilet cleaning brush as the bristles bent out and splayed in all different directions. If you think the normal Bobbi lipgloss brushes are bad, these were 15 times worse!
