Kat Von D Rock N Roll Eyeshadow Palette Review and Swatches

Sephora, Sephora, Sephora…improving on the free goods aren’t we?   I recently told you about hauling a free Kate Von D Rock n Roll Palette.  500 points and it’s all yours baby.

Kat Von D Rock N Roll Eyeshadow Palette 1

Now count me impressed as I got mine with my recent Friends and Family order and it’s gorgeous.

Jump!

Ok, so I was thinking, “Oh cool it’s free!” And with that didn’t expect much. My idea of the palette was it would be probably made out of cardboard and tiny.

I was wrong.

It’s actually like a mini version of the large Kate Von D palettes plus it has a slew of product inside. Very nice and impressive. This is a sturdy black palette with a skull design. It’s filled with four generous size shadows. Actually, you know those Kat Von D duo shadows? These are it but smaller.

Kat Von D Rock N Roll Eyeshadow Palette 8

You get four shades total which are 0.05 oz in size. The shades are Believer (Glittery Snowy White), Confessional (Beige Pearl), Groupie (Purple Pearl), and Motorhead (Glittery Off Black Shade).

The pearl finishes on some of the shadows make them a bit frosty but all four shades blend flawlessly with great color pay off. Honestly, for the price, hello? it’s free (kinda), it’s well worth using up some of those points you’ve been sitting on to snag this.

Likey!

Anyone get it?

I also picked this up in my last Sephora order (which has yet to arrive, UPS takes their sweet time delivering to the West coast). I’ve heard less-than-stellar things about this palette–mainly, the shadows just aren’t very pigmented. But I gotta agree with you, I can’t argue with “free”! :)

dangster I heard the same..few people ranted it wasn’t so fab but I was quite happy. I think it’s the best sample they offered to date. I got my stuff fairly quickly this time around :-D yay! Hope yours gets there soon so you can have fun playing!

stop back? tell us what you think of this palette!

The trick to the KVD shadows is layering…….I’m able to get very intense color with a heavier application. Hope that helps!

awesome thanks for the tip donna!

I’ve been eyeing this (I have over 1000 points in my beauty bank). I just got in my KVD True Love Palette and wanted to see how I like it before I give up my 500 points!

Oh!, quick question. I’m assuming your a VIB member w/Sephora. I remember reading something about a holiday gift card depending on how much you spend….do you know anything about that?

hi kat…no real word on the holiday gift thing…but I hope they will update us shortly on that :-D

This is a nice one it prob the best deluxe sample I’ve seen them offer yet…but keep in mind the formula is a little different compared to the palettes :-D

Muse, I’ve ordered from Sephora…more than once, shall we say, but I don’t know anything about this points concept…help!

oh no Bonnie! Basically you can feel out for a Sephora Beauty Insider card which you use each time you purchase in store. It’s linked to your web account as well. I believe it’s extra dollar spent gets you one point. When you get 100 points you can get one smaller deluxe sample and 500 points gets you a bigger sample, example this palette.

log into your account
and go to my account
you should see your beauty insider account if you have one if not I suggest heading in store and asking to fill out for a beauty insider card or call them on the phone and ask to fill up for one :-D

Hope this makes sense/helps!

jojoba(My Make Up Reviews) October 23, 2009 at 3:54 pm

you know that i like kat von d true romance eye shadow palettes? but i keep hearing the rest aren’t as pigmented. i never got any of those though as kat von d is just out of my reach. these look really bad compared to my true romance. i am not sure if i’d be happy even if it was free for me… *_*

i hope kat makes all her eye shadow equally as good. the cream e/s in those LE dry up fast too. but 7 out of 8 shades being excellent quality, i am not complaining…

hey jojoba the duos are nice and are pigmented but more frosty, I like the palettes best :-D I absolutely adore the palettes but must say I don’t really like the cream too much but the recent palette has a better quality cream :-D if you ever need Kat Von D you have my deets!

I actually got this a few weeks ago when I was in the store. Love it, especially because it contains GROUPIE, which is one of my favorite duos of the KVD collection.

I picked this up on my last trip to Sephora, and finally decided to cash-in my points.

I was flying high thinking “wow, this is an AWESOME free palette! and then i realized that palette *actually* cost me $500. UGH. so guilty.

god the uk needs sephora but i guess their isnt really the market for just a beauty store i remember in paris i went into sephora first time ever omg heaven i assumed it was like boots oh how wrong walls lined with perfume counters and counters of makeup heaven

teehee anyway just thought id comment and say for a free gift (although technically you paid for stuff to get the points so not entirely free i like boots point system better) looks pretty good even if the shadows are smaller i mean who finishes eyeshadows that often anyway

groupie looks super cool in the pan and im liking confessional

haha robyn indeed sephora is heaven on earth :)

it really was a nice freebie :-D cost $500 bucks but still love it LOL!

and true I never hit pan on anything!

I am really not a fan of palettes as there are normally quite a few colours included that I wouldnt use, however this one is really cute, I love all four of the colours!!
