Tarte Holiday Collection 2009: Tarte Crown Jewels LipGloss Gift Set Review and Swatches
Ok, let me so share with you a Musey Christmas story. When I was little one item I could always look forward to when I was a little Muse would be those Lifesaver Christmas Books.
Please tell me I have a few older readers that remember these?
Basically it came with a life time supply of LifeSavers Candies (8 rolls but it seemed like a life time supply to me when I was a kid) in a little book style packaging. I’ll bore you no more but the moral of the story is the new Tarte Crown Jewels Lipgloss Set kinda reminds me of that days of old packaging from Lifesavers when I was an ickle baby.
Jump ahead for the review!
Fitted inside a flip style book packaging you’ll get pretty much the best bang for your buck with this set. If you’re buying it for yourself it’s spoilage at it’s best as it contains a total of 15 glosses.
But the best thing about it?
Each set of gloss is tagged with a to and from field and packaged in a little box containing five glosses each. You can break off each one of these and hand them out as gifts or stocking stuffers. Coolness right?
$39 divided by 15 glosses brings you around to $2.60 per a gloss. Where as three packages of five glosses each would even you up at around $13 per a set of five. Love those math problems.
Lots of gloss sets around this season but this is probably the best one I’ve seen to date in regards to variety, size, value, and overall packaging and appearance. The set pretty much covers you for all formulas and color variety which means you’ll get a mix of shimmery glosses, pearl ones, milky matte ones, etc….in a slew of shades ranging from pinks, reds, golds, beiges, etc…basically lots of bang for the buckage here.
One thing I didn’t like were some of the more milkier matte shades. There are about five total of those. This type of formula isn’t always flattering on me. Aside from that the semi-shimmery and shimmery finishes are all ace. The kit does have a dominant red and pink theme as hey it’s the holiday we wear those shades most during this season. The formula is ok on these as I got last year’s set and was quite happy with pigmentation, formula, etc….one thing to keep in mind is many of the shimmery glosses are more of a topcoat for a stain or a lipstick as these are pretty much clear gloss with heavy glitter. I did notice that not much product comes out on the sponge applicator so you do have to layer a little bit to get the product going. I found it interesting they didn’t actual name the glosses either so I didn’t tag photos with the names of the glosses in case you were wondering what was going on.
Overall, if you’re looking for a gift set that can actually convert into 3 gifts in 1 this would be a great one to hit up or hey if you want to spoil yourself or someone you love with a crumb load of glossy good variety the Tarte Crown Jewels Lip Gloss Set is the way to go.
Loves it. Total Muse Approval on this one.
