Would You Buy It? Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Collector Set

Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Set

If the Muse was an eye liner girl she’d be in such deep trouble right now.

Why?

Well, hello have you seen the Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Collector Set. Dude, it’s like one of those 500 pack colored pencil sets I had when I was a kid. It’s valued at a whopping $425 bucks!

What’s inside? 25…count ’em….25….I really like saying 25. 25 Make Up For Ever Aqua Eye Liners! And by the way they are all full size. No mini size here!

Is that absurd? Turns out the kit is $225 and comes housed in a collectible tin, 100 of which are numbered and signed by Dany Sanz creator of MUFE.

So let’s do the math. Humor me I like math.

25 Aqua Eye Liners purchased separately equals $425 each. This set is $249 which breaks down each to around $10 bucks each. But…but…but…FF is on the way….let’s go ahead and do the leg work on the discount…that’s 20% off for a total of around $200 bucks divided by 25 pencils equals $8 bucks or so a liner.

Hmmmm with or without the 20% off it’s still a really killer deal but I’m not sure if I’m willing to dish out $200 dollars on the spot. Oh the agonizing choices one has to make in the name of cosmetics.

Here’s a list of shades you’ll get:

  • Champagne 23L
  • Fuchsia Pink 13L
  • Purple 11L
  • Black Purple 6L
  • Shimmering Plum 4L
  • Burgandy 18L
  • Pearly Brown 2L
  • Light Brown 19L
  • Light Taupe 24L
  • Bronze Green 5L
  • Bronze 10L
  • Gold 9L
  • Pistachio 17L
  • Green 16L
  • Forest Green 20L
  • Turquoise 7L
  • Blue With Green Highlights 12L
  • Majorelle Blue 15L
  • Iridescent Navy Blue 3L
  • Mat Black 0L
  • Star Black 1L
  • Dark Grey 21L
  • Grey 22L
  • Silver 8L
  • White 14L

God that’s such a bloody delicious line up. I imagine if I was more into eye liners I’d haul but for now I’m saying it’s a skip for me.

How about you?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. if i had the cash to spare, i totally would!!! but yeah, even with the FF discount, 2oo bucks seems a little too much for me now, i’ll stick with drugstore finds for the moment.

    • the Muse

yup i’m kind feeling the same pau…if I got this I’d have to just get this and nothing else…200 is just a little too much to dish. lovely…but no buy 😛

  • Paula

Gawd, I know I squealed when I saw this, but I can’t, just can’t spend that. I actually think I wouldn’t use all of the colors (*i know, I know), so I may just pick out my few that I WOULD use and use the FF disc on those.
Doesn’t mean this won’t my on my list to Santa, tho. 😉

    • the Muse

paula me either so can’t splurge the 200 in one go. I’m scared hold me 😀 santa baby please buy me a big old set of aqua eyes for the holidayzzzz 😀

  • BeautyBitch

It’s a skip for me in reality but a MAJOR collector lemming. Like many make-up addicts before I was into make-up I was into collecting stationary. Pencils, erasers, stickers, pencil cases…. skip forward 20 years and it’s lip glosses, make-up brushes, eyeshadows : different drug, same addiction! This eyeliner set combines both so it’s tugging at lots of purse strings. It completely looks like the multi Caran D’ache pencil sets. Would it surprise you to know that I had one when I was a child and refused to use any of the pencils and refused to let anyone touch them, just admiring their pristine beauty? I bet not! I imagine that if I bought one of the MUFE Aquacolour sets, I’d do the same thing.

    • the Muse

hells yes bora same here. OMGGGGGGG YES! There used to be a small Asian Stationary a few miles from my house growing up and my mum would take me every single saturday to buy me stickers, pencils, erasers….it was such a huge part of my childhood LOL I DID THE SAME THING!!!!!!! I used to have a huge array of colored pencils and crayons that I wouldn’t touch or use and no one could touch LMAO!!!!!!! it lasted well into my early teens! 😀 haha we are SO diseased!

  • jojoba(My Make Up Reviews)

i am a crazy fan of MUFE stuff but Aqua Eyes are some of the stuff I can’t use. Therefore, this set will be purely a collector’s item for me if I were to get it. Besides, its EXTRELEY high price tag would stop me from even trying to use it as once sharpened, the pencils aren’t collectable anymore.

Even if I can use the pencils, I will not buy such a set as i don’t believe I could use all 25 colours as liners. I’d rather they create a set that allows people to mix and match colours. 25 is a lot and i seriously doubt that anyone needs so many colours. 425USD for EYELINERS? well, I’d prefer getting some miracle foundation or skin care with that amount instead. But then again, I’d never spent so much on any item, even if it’s a set…

Awesome post. It got me thinking really hard.

    • the Muse

soooooo true jojoba which is one reason I’m avoiding it b/c id never want to use ANY of them! I was kinda digging the break down as they are around 8 bucks each after you do the math but still I doubt I’d use 25 liners either LOL I’m awful I still want ’em but I know I’d never use 😀

      aw thanks Jojoba 😀

  • jackieg02

I have a few of these already and I don’t like them. So. Nope. I wouldn’t get this. And 200 bucks is a lot to drop in one sitting.

  • Fresco Phyrra

I couldn’t splurge $200 on that, though I’ve heard nice things about the MUFE liners.

  • MC

If I had the extra cash, OH HELL YEAH!!!! I would be set for eyeliner for a long, long time. XD

  • Dao

As much as I love liners, the price after FF discount is too much! 200 bucks can cover my grocery bill for a month and some. Plus, the kids may think the can color the house with them. But MUFE liners are ridiculously pigmented, gah!

    • the Muse

you have kids dao!? hahaha! It’s a killer deal broken down the problem is shelling out 200 bucks in one go hehe! Noooooooo! and heck yes it can cover a grocery bill or me too! 😀

  • Carol L

Wow, my jaw dropped when I saw this. This is an awesome set. I love MUFE aqua eyes, this is so worth it. Too bad they didn’t have a set like this at IMATS for 40% off that would have been an awesome deal.

    • the Muse

omg carol that would be sweetzzzzzz 😀 But still at imats 40% off is a total deal anyway 😀 so might as well just haul aqua liners at that price :-D!

  • Robyn

if i had the money i would buy it but then i dno like 25 eyeliners wow yes exciting but yet 25 of the same thing so dull id probz rather have an eyeshadow a liner a blush all in colours i knew i would use

if i ever do become a makeup artist then i think i would want it

    • the Muse

absolutely robyn! It’s just TOO big a stash! I’d never make proper use either :-D!

  • hannah

so, so, SO tempting. i love makeup forever eyeliners. i used to have a black one…but then the movers lost one of my boxes..the one that had my makeup forever eyeliner! -.-
haha would love to get this set but i probably wont

    • the Muse

oh no hannah! I’d die if any of my makeup got lost 😛 I probably won’t either but so fun to drool!

  • hiromix

    omg!!! i really want it~ 0_0
hefty price, especially since in korea it’ll be more expensive but still… WANT! 😀

  • laura r

    CRAYOLA FOR MY EYES.

can’t drop that much on it. boo. but oh, it’s so pretty to look at.

    • the Muse

      haha exactly laura 😀

me either…bit too much for me to consider dropping in one go especially with xmas stuff around the corner!

  • laura r

you know what, we should each put in a buck (or one for this, one for cancer!) and then we can each get a week with it over the next 18 months to look and caress and drool- w/o using any of the liners. LOL

    • the Muse

LMAO good idea Laura! We can all have custody a few days in a month! just caressing and petting though no using LOL

      • Paula

I’m just warning you – It *may* *might* get used if it comes to my house, but I’m totally blaming it on the one before me. “It came to me like that” *shrug* LOL!!

  • Nadine

It’s a definite skip for me because MUFE Aqua Eyes pencils vary in quality depending on the color. The softness and pigmentation is inconsistent. In other words, some colors skip on the skin while others don’t. The Urban Decay 24/7 liners are much more consistent in quality.

    • the Muse

ha no kid Nadine I didn’t know that! 😀 I love the UD ones anyway so I’ll be sticking with!

  • Eliane T.

I am not even an eye liner girl but I am drooling right now! This set is amazing.

  • Sara Sever

THANK YOU!!! I am glad I’m not the only one who is fighting the urge to buy this beautiful, delicious rainbow of love that needs to come home with me.!!!

  • sparklyblind

dEF yes! iF i HAD the extra spending money but I won’t be saving up for it. Now that you did the price breakdown it makes me want it evenmore than when I first saw it online @Sephora though. I know that if I happened to win the lotto or something though they would be sold out!

  • jasmin

nope i wouldn’t. i personally LOVE the black aqua eyes, after trying every black pencil liner under the sun, this is the ONLY one that didnt smudge or run on me. however i do notice that these kind of crack almost during appliation, like i’ll notice little gaps in the lines, and my mother noticed the same in her other colors like blue and green. the silver is gorgeous no cracking or gapping there. but i don’t think i would do for the whole collection.

    • the Muse

aw sorry to hear it jasmin, not good! The whole collection was a bit outside my price range which is why I avoided also I like UD 24/7’s better! :_D

  • Paula

I LOVE the Aqua line for shoots. Its stays on in studio or outdoors. I would definitely buy the set. Unless your a professional Makeup artists I wouldnt splurge on the whole kit. Just buy what colors you would use and save your money for some new products you cant live without.
