C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Cordial Review

C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Cordials have been on my hit list since I seen them pop up online. Count me curious as they sounded so yummy but did anyone feel like the word “mentha” just didn’t belong together with flavors like hot chocolate and spiced cider? I mean mentha=mint plus spiced cider? buttered rum? Totally makes me gag…!

C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Cordial 1

The Muse set out to find out how scary mentha would be combined which such thrilling holiday flavors and she was delightfully surprised!

Find out why after the jump!

DON’T make the same mistake as the Muse. Truly I’d probably have avoided hauling any of the C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Cordials simply because of the keyword mentha. I just felt like that would be the biggest turn off. Mind you I love mint in my glosses but some of the flavors of the Cordials combined with mint sounded horrifying.

So check it…

C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Cordials come in four flavors, Hot Buttered Rum, Hot Chocolate, Warm Spiced Cider, and Vanilla Cream Egg Nog. Now those all sound incredibly yummy but thinking about adding a dash of mint to any kinda of turns me off. Aside from possibly Hot Chocolate I can’t think that mint would taste good with cider, egg nog, or rum….right?

Wanna know the good news?

There isn’t any mint at all and each flavor is amazingly true to it’s name and tasty as all heck!

Aside from a slight tingling you won’t taste mint at all in any of the flavors. All the flavors are sooooooo delicious. Enough so that you’ll want to tip your head back and squeeze each gloss into your mouth, yes, indeed, they are THAT tasty. I cannot believe how true these are too their namesakes and probably some of the best tasting glosses I’ve had my hands on and believe me I’ve had my hands on plenty.

Each gloss has a thick, shiny formula that’s a clear white with white shimmer. They glide onto lips very smoothly and leave behind a beautiful mirror shine. Perfect on their own or on top of lipsticks or stains.

Overall, the flavors absolutely floored me as they are so delicious and yummy tasting. The gloss itself has a nice formula but don’t expect it to wear long as chances are you’ll be licking it off your lips within a few minutes as the heavenly taste is too tempting not to lick off.

C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Cordials get a big yay from me. Total Muse Approval for purchase on these. Count me pleasantly surprised how great they are! I’ve learned my lesson, never will I pass up Bath and Body Works gloss display again, I’m hooked.

Anyone snag these?

I looove my C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Tint. My lips feel so cool & refreshed after applying it. I love the initial minty taste of it but after a few too many licks, I can taste the canola oil. I wish C.O. Bigelow would stop using Petrolatum & Canola Oil but beggers can’t be choosers :\

    • the Muse

hi ashley! I hadn’t noticed! I do notice the yummie taste 😀 I guess I wasn’t paying attention as the yummie tastes of these had me 😀

  • Tanya

C.O. Bigelow Mentha lip glosses are some of my favoites. I bought all these flavors except the hot chocolate one since I have a few chocolate glosses as it is. My favorite from this collection is the spiced cider one. Did you try the Ginger Mentha gloss?

    • the Muse

      hey tanya

what’s new darlin’? yay good hauling! I like spiced cider as well, aside from buttered rum it’s topping as a fav for me. Noooo! is it good?!

Do share! Tried the perfume but not the gloss!

I saw your post and I had to go get them! I had no idea these even existed. And I am a total cider freak. So naturally I ran out before work to grab me some cider lip gloss. In store they were $5, no other special. The rum smelled really good but I ended up getting just the hot chocolate (how can anyone pass up chocolate smelling glittery gloss?!) and my spiced cider (which smells heavily of cinnamon but oddly enough I haven’t worn it yet).
So here’s to you muse for your awesome beauty temptation powers! Rest assured, they are working. 😛

      hey lisa

whatcha think!? 5 bucks is still nice! tell me tell me did you try yet?! they taste SOOOO good! 😀 I was impressed. I expected to be disappointed but loved ’em 😀

aw shucks hehe 😀 lol I feel so specials, my lure and tempting really gets you haha!

      • Lisa

I have since tried both. The spiced cider doesn’t remind me of cider at all. It kinda reminds me of the candy Red Hots with its strong cinnamon smell/flavor. I love the hot chocolate, it makes me feel all warm and cozy. The one thing I don’t like is that the glitter feels like sandpaper! I wish they could have made it smaller or something. I am all for shimmery glosses but I feel like I am exfoliating my lips. It especially feels this way when the gloss starts to disappear or dry down. I’m not sure if I am the only one who feels this way. But whatever, I love em all the same. 😀

        • the Muse

oh lisa yes kind you’re right 😀 it’s my fav of the four! Hmmmm I didn’t notice the glitter too much it seemed to have glided away quickly. I did feel this way about the Lalicious ones though! I loved those but they kinda rubbed off and left glitter behind…but the taste made up for it hehe 🙂

  • Paloma

I love you for posting this! I discovered the yummy glosses on Temptalia and had to buy the collection. Luckily, I scored all four on eBay for a mere $24, free shipping! My least favorite is the Eggnog, and I have to say that my 2 faves are the Triple Hot Chocolate and the Buttered Rum. The Spiced Cider and the Eggnog aren’t memorable compared to the other two, but they aren’t terrible. <3 i'm totally bookmarking you 🙂 There wouldn't happen to be giveaways on here, would there? 😛

  • the Muse

    hello there paloma!

Great deal hun! I’m not too keen on eggnog either but I loved Spiced Cider and Buttered Rum! So yummy! 😀

Aww thanks for the bookmark so awesome to have a new reader 😀

Yes there will be, funny you asked, the 12 days of Christmas Giveaways starts tomorrow w00t!

  • Tanya

Hi Muse! I like the Ginger Mentha one, but it’s far from a favorite. Although I did wear it on Thanksgiving, so I guess it’s my holiday gloss. It smells kind of like gingerbread and candy canes to me.

    • the Muse

hey tanya! Mmmmm sounds good! gingerbread and candy canes? Hm! 🙂 did you try the lalicious holiday ones? LOVE!

  • Merryl

I love you for reviewing these! A friend gave me a tube of the lemon mentha and I got hooked and immediately went out and bought the sundae soda fountain collection bar the marshmallow… I still need to get that one. But I have the Strawberry Sundae, Hot Fudge Sundae, and Butterscotch Vanilla Sundae. There were no disappointments with these! The fudge has a very dark brown tint that intimidated me at first because I was worried it would be a bad mathc for my skintone, but I’m pleased to report that all the glosses are versatile enough to wear whatever shade! The flavors are delicious, and you can get them off the Bigelow Chemists website, possibly in a three-pack. I just ordered the eggnog and the buttered rum. I passed on the hot chocolate just in case it’s the same basic formula as the fudge. But reading your review has convinced me to go back and get the cider as well! Thank you, Muse!

Also, Lisa, I had the same glitter problem. My solution was to put a thin layer of a flavorless lip balm on before applying the gloss. I’d recommend something like Nivea’s kiss of moisture or something. It’s cheap, moisturizing, and doesn’t interfere with the flavor of the gloss 🙂

    • the Muse

aw cheers merrly glad you liked the review. sounds like are addicted 😀 haha! They are very good glosses aren’t they 😀 cider is YUM! you’re gonna love it 😀 did you by chance see the lipliscious (spelling?) ones from BBW too this Holiday they were lovelys!
