Hard Candy Mouthing Off Sheer Lip Shine Review and Swatches

Hard Candy Mouthing Off Sheer Lip Shine was one of the first items that was sent to be on the re-release of Hard Candy at Walmart. As you know I hauled a slew of Hard Candy recently BUT if I was depending on Hard Candy Mouthing Off Sheer Lip Shine as my marker to decide whether or not I needed more I’d probably end up with nothing.

This one was kinda a fail for me.

The thing is having been the first product I tried from the new line I was totally crushed and disappointed. Thank god I didn’t let this sway me from doing my own hauling because Hard Candy does have some nifty little finds, Hard Candy Mouthing Off Sheer Lip Shine not being one.

As I mentioned this was sent to me to test out very early on and just when Walmart was beginning to bring the brand into stores. I got the shade Piglet Pink which is a very sheer, light pink. The fact that the gloss is sheer would be one problem. I hate really sheer glosses which have absolutely no color. Why on earth they tint sheer glosses is beyond me because they freaking go on transculent what the hell is the point? I mean you pick up the gloss, ohhhh and ahhh over the fab shade, get it home, apply it, and you’re totally crushed that the shade in the tube is so NOT showing up on your lips. Sigh.� Yes, yes I know I was warned ahead of time with the keyword “sheer” but still…..

Secondly, not too keen on the formula here. It has a sweet vanilla taste much like MAC Lipglass but considerably better tasting (I HATE the taste of Lipglass). It’s a sweeter taste and quite pleasing. However, the formula is rather dry. You aren’t going to get glossy lips with this not even wet ones not even a subtle little hint of shine…nada…it’s a very dry formula.

Overall, this one was a total bust for me but like I said I’m ever so glad I didn’t end up judging the entire line on this one gloss otherwise I’d have not found out about how cool the other items in the collection are. Hard Candy Mouthing Off Sheer Lip Shine no likey. I don’t care that it’s six bucks and cheap, it’s still awful.
