L’Oreal Color of Hope Lipstick and L’Oreal Color of Hope Infalliable LipGloss Review and Swatches
Anyone pick up the new L’Oreal Color of Hope Lipstick and L’Oreal Color of Hope Infalliable LipGloss? During a recent foray through CVS I came across both and was pretty impressed with the colors so I indulged.

Ok, so, few reasons I purchased these. L’Oreal had a buy 1, get 1 50% off going on at CVS so it made hauling kinda of appealing. Secondly, I really loved the promo images on the display. The shades are really a warmer red which totally appealed to me and thirdly L’Oreal is donating money from each sale of the items to the Ovarian Research Fund…I kinda dig cosmetics that give back.
Considering these were marked at $7.99-$8.99 per lip item I wouldn’t call them cheap and I wouldn’t say they are worthy of a haul for that sort of price. For a few dollars more I can get a MAC Lipstick which has way better quality….get my mentality? But throw in that BOGO offer and I kinda feel like I’m doing myself a favor paying a little less per each piece (but not by much). When I did the purchase I was in the frame of mind that the shades would all work so well for the Holidays and yes they do at that.

I was pretty impressed with the shades as they are all rather rich and beautiful ranging from plums, to roses, and warmer wine shades. These are actually shades I love in regards to reds as they wear best on me.
I reviewed L’Oreal Infalliable Lip Gloss a while back ago and it seems the formula has improved with age. Where as before I felt that the texture was a tad irritating it’s now quite comfortable wearing on my lips and packs plenty of pigmentation. It’s actually a very good lip gloss for a drugstore buy. Likey very much.
The L’Oreal Lipsticks I can’t speak as highly about. Although they have great color payoff the formula itself doesn’t glide on as well as I like and it leaves my lips a little dried out. On top of this it also has a rather nasty perfume taste, not good in my humblest. I am trying to overlook the taste and crummy formula as the colors are quite rich and pretty for the holiday ahead and I’m rather looking forward to using them in a few of my more festive party looks.
Overall, the Muse would say the price point needs to be lowered a tad bit for the quality of the products. Worthy of a haul but only if you can get them on sale as $7.99 and upwards it’s just too high for drugstore makeup with a shabby formula. However, if you are feeling like you wouldn’t want to splurge on a $14 or so on MAC Lipstick these are a great alternative for holiday or evening looks.
Likey, just not a love.
