I’m trying to figure out what L’Oreal HIP is trying to accomplish with the little hangy hook thing on their Color Presso Gloss.  Like…are you supposed to snap it on your keys?  Where’s it supposed to hang?  What’s the point?   They have this really awesome gloss with some weird, obscure packaging going on….FAIL.

Jump ahead to hear me rave, rant, and moan about L’Oreal HIP Color Presso Gloss.

Dudes, I totally dig this gloss but it needs so much work packaging wise. You know it’s saying something when I actually LIKE a drugstore gloss right?

Here’s the good news.

The is awesome, seriously, go try it. It has a faint MAC-like vanilla taste going on but it’s much sweeter so the taste is pleasant to me. The formula is highly glossy, very comfortable on my lips, and awesomely pigmented. I love, love, love it. It glides on very lightly but still has a nice pop of yummy color. The finish is beautiful, very glossy, it’s gorgeous that’s pretty much all you need to know. Seriously, I like this stuff alot.

Problems…………..

Packaging is so wicked bad. First of all it’s a dual chamber package which allows two shades of color to be distrubed at the same time or I guess if you really want to get technical one shade at a time but kids, don’t try it, you’ll so lose an arm trying to figure out how to get one side of gloss to slide out while keeping the other one inside. For the longest time I was trying to separate the two chambers as the packaging seems to hint that this can be done, but nope not possible. Secondly, getting the gloss to flow properly is a little bit of a problem as well as it’ll squeeze out but slip back into the tube quickly, kinda a cat and mouse game. And finally I’ve no idea why they thought a hook or a little hanging whatcamacallit was a good idea. I dunno I guess they thought this would be fab to tote around on your keys?

Colors I tried were Chic and Classy which by the way they need to improve on as well, not nearly enough shades in this fabulous gloss, need more selection guys please. Chic is my fav as it’s made up of a peach and a ruby peach shade of gloss, combined the effect gives you a nice slick of deep grapefruit pink gloss. Classy is made up of a sheer lilac pink gloss and a deeper shade of dusky pink, combined it creates a nice elegant pink on my lips. Below I’m wearing Chic on my lips, absolutely love how gorgeous it is, mind you this is the full color of the gloss, no stain or lipstick under it.

Overall, they have a seriously awesome gloss on their hands here. Absolutely love it and deem it worthy of a pick up but just try to not fling it across the room when you become as irritated and frustrated with the packaging as I did.

Loves it but L’Oreal work on the packaging k?

Anyone try these?

Really wanting to hear thoughts on it!

I like these glosses, too, but also find the packaging frustrating. I guess Hagrid in Harry Potter could have found this useful on his key chain :)

dao wth is with the packaging…..I spent the better part of an hour trying to take them apart….I thought it slipped open some how. HATES! But great gloss :-D haha indeed Hargrid could have slapped it on his big old keyring!

Um….this is gonna sound embarrassing…but when I went to check it out at the pharmacy….I kinda…sorta….opened the wrong end….
For some reason, it made sense for me to open the narrow end….The Nunu operates in mysterious ways okay.

no no you are NOT the only one! I tried to do that too!!! you mean the hook side right!? I tried that too! I thought I had to slip the entire “harness” off the tube of gloss….it’s such stupid arse packaging. the gloss is so great but they need to revamp the packaging!

Yup, I thought the ‘hook’, was a ring to allow easy uncapping. I did a twisty jiggle on the hook and it came off…along with it came a half a tube of the gloss. I had to alternate between, putting the cap back on, wiping my hands and hiding the tube in the further corner of the display…all the while wondering when security would rugby tackle me.
Needless to say, I never got to admire its greatness.

you CAN split the tubes up. But you need to attach it to another color presso thingy. It’s a bit hard to explain but basically you detach the tubes and mix and match it with other colors to make your own duo. It takes a bit of effort tho. I think it was my bf who managed to pull a tube off or did he put it back in to the black holder thingie…. Cant really remember. But yeah you can split the tube up. Sorry for the rambling.

omg seriously felicia? I’ve been trying but it never worked! But now does it work with the applicator? I mean the little black thing only has the one applicator so how does it work witht he applicator?

Huh. I’ve been eyeing these for a while…but if you can’t use the colors seperately, whats the point? Couldn’t they then have just mixed the two to make it easier on themselves and us? I feel tricked and I do not like it one bit. XD

LOL Lisa! :-D I feelz tricked! :-D hehe. Honestly I still love it though lol! It has such a great texture! :-D !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think mixing the two up creates a rather nice pop of color so I don’t mind!

you can use the glosses separately, you just squeeze the one side you want… it comes from two separate holes.

hi annika the packaging causes a big of a problem using the glosses separately as it’s a bit messy and also sucks the product back in. The packaging needs a little bit of a rework for everything to work well!

well, it’s basically like what NuNu did. you flip open the hook top part and expose the plastic tubes with the glosses. then you pull out the tubes and put it on/in another black harness thing from another color preso. it’s kinda stupid i think coz the applicator of the next color preso you attach it to would alread have gloss of a different color from the previous tube that was attached to it. f you squeeze it, the old color will come out, then a mix of the old and new color and then the new color. so it really makes no sense to mix and match then often because then the inside of the applicator will be all sorts of colors.
am i making any sense here?

I used to have like 4 or 6 of these coz i went crazy on the BOGO sale but applying them was such a hassle. i definitely do not like the applicator. And you mentioned about their color range and I had this duo that has a stunning orange color….but i lost it….and i somehow only have 2 now, which are spunky and fashionista. love the red on fashionista but again, hate applying it, so both of them are going on the “get rid of” pile.

oh the stunning duo with the orange color i loved is the snazzy duo if you want to check it out.

sorry for the delayed reply felicia :D

oooo sounds a little messy hun! I love ‘em but yes the applicator blows it. Overall it’s a good buy if you snag ‘em on BOGO :-D I’d say even at full price they are an awesome buy but they do need to work on the packaging!

And thanks for the shade will look for it!
