The Muse’s Gift Guide: 20 Palettes for $20 or Under

Muse's Gift

I love gift cards.

Gift cards for holidays, birthdays, special occasions, I don’t care whatever it is I love ’em. I like giving gift cards alot.

Ok, go on, you can say it. OMG Muse you impersonal biatch! But listen….my sister is the type of person that freaking has everything and alot of my friend’s are like that too. It’s really difficult settling on a gift for people like that so gift cards are so awesome. I really like the idea of giving someone a little extra cash to spend at their favorite store, it’s a rather great thing for the receiver in my humblest.

Now to some extent I agree they are kinda impersonal which is why I always try to spice up the gift card with a small gift or little goodies to make up for the impersonal aspect of the card itself.

Here are 20 GREAT palette ideas that are $20 and under which would be great to stuff in a stocking, give as a small gift to people, or to accompany with a gift card.

Hopefully some of these will appeal as a friendly little gift or as I said above to tuck in with a gift card of some sort. Some aren’t the best choices in my humblest as I’m not sure on quality, such as the Ulta palettes, but for $20 bucks and under it’s worthy of a try out for a stocking stuffer or a Secret Santa.

Happy Hauling!

Tell me your fav palette finds $20 or under!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. • Ashleigh

I was totally planning on hauling the Pop Pin Up Palette and the Ulta Glitterati Palette this weekend! Hopefully Ulta has picked up some of the NYX palettes too.

  • Kaoru

I love not only to send giftcard, but to receive them as well! My mom hates it when I ask for a giftcard for a present, since she thinks it’s not very personal, and I’m always like “ummm, but I’m asking for it?” I know I’m hard to shop for, and I know I have a lot of things right now, but a giftcard means that my Christmas present from December because my swimsuit for July!

    I don’t know, I think it’s only me. Even my husband thinks I’m odd…

    • the Muse

me too kaoru. Everyone thinks they are so impersonal but it’s such a great gift imho I mean it’s like giving someone what they really WANT right? 😀

No way I’m the same way 😀

  • Hollie

I love you for this post! I was just thinking about what good palette I could get for under $20. I’ll definitely be checking out the first Sonia Kashuk palette you listed. I saw the Pop Beauty Pin Up Pop Palette in my Ulta catalog and wasn’t sure about it because I’ve never tried Pop but it’s only 10$ so might as well!

    • the Muse

hollie it’s nice. It’s in a sequin clutch 😀 and the shadows are gorg, review popping up shortly for you! I’m of the same mentality it’s 10 bucks and cute can’t go wrong right!?

  • Chelsea

LOL on the recorded jingles … I won’t be torturing my friends and family that way this year; instead, I hauled a bunch of Korres that I’ll be handing out like candy (canes). Yup, the Muse got me addicted to Korres. I treated myself to some goodies during their promo (it’s still going on, BTW), and as soon as I tried the Lip Butter in Plum I dashed to my computer to order several more for me, and a bunch for my mom and sis. Also, the samples they sent worked wonders on my skin. Korres is the new Lush!

    • the Muse

      hey chelsea

  • Smirking Valet

If my middle name wasn’t “Rachel”, it would totally be “Palette”!! I’m loving the Sephora-to-go palettes! I’m getting them for tween girls I nanny for, as a great introductory makeup kit. I refuse to have young ladies painted up in sparkles on my watch!! Remember Tinkerbell Cosmetics??? Anything’s better than that!

    • the Muse

dude I am so all about sprinkles, shimmer and glitter hahahahahaha 😀 Can’t help myself!!!!!!!!! 😀

But I hear you they make cute gifts 😀
