The Muse’s Mail Bag

mail bag

The Muse is going to try out a new feature on Musings which I hope you’ll enjoy. It’s called Mail Bag and it’s basically a Q&A session. I get alot of e-mail and sometimes I feel a little overwhelmed and take a long time to reply because I have so much going on. In an effort to answer more e-mails I’ve decided to start a post where I can share my answer with not only the person who wrote to me but also with all of you. I thought this would be a fun way to share what a reader might be asking me and maybe you can even offer them advice of your own or have the same question on your mind.

What do you think? I kind of like the idea!

For my first mail bag post I’ll be answering some questions from Crystal. Crystal thanks so much for all your questions, phew you had alot, good times!

Jump ahead to hear what Crystal wanted to know and how the Muse replied!

Crystal writes:

I just want to say that I REALLY love your blog! This is one of the 1st blogs
I’ve ever read, and I’m super happy about the way you run it. Keep up the good
work!

the Muse replies:

Thank you SO much Crystal! It’s an honor to be one of your first blog experiences and I’m so glad you’re enjoying my babblings!

The Questions:

What do you think of Benefit Get Even? Is it a good powder for oil blotting?

I like Benefit Get Even alot. Honestly, I haven’t used it a long time but it was one of my HG (holy grail) powders for a while. I liked it as a quickie foundation when I wasn’t up for a full face regime, I like it to set my cream foundation, and I also liked it for warmer weather when my face was oily. I’m not sure I’d recommend it solely as an oil blotting powder if that’s why you’d want to buy it as there are many other better mattifying powders available outside of Get Even that would probably do the job better. But if you’d like to use it for multiple reasons it’s a good powder to settle with.

What are your must have Too Faced products?

Mmm good question…let’s see…without a question Too Faced Mirror, Mirror Lip Gloss is the best gloss ever and a must have. Too Faced Magic Wand Foundation is seriously a fav and a must have and finally the new Too Faced Natural Eye Palette is an absolute essential item and fav. By the way there is a coupon ongoing at the moment as well.

I know that you LOVE sparkle, glitter, and shimmer, so what’s your fave glittery
liquid eyeliner? Not Urban Decay’s, I don’t like the formula. I’m looking for a
clear one to be specific.

Hmmm that’s a tough one as I really like Urban Decay Heavy Metal Eye Liner but I can understand the “not like” part as it is a bit thick and overwhelming. Have you tried Too Faced Glitter Liners? They are pretty nice and not as crazy glittery as UD’s.

What are your HG pencil eyeliners?

Right now my HG Pencil Eyeliners are the Korres Eyeliner Pencils. These are soooo dreamy and creamy and they glide onto my eye like butter!

What eyeshadow do you think is best for a blending-out color on golden medium
tan skin? Something not shimmery or matte, just in between that’s like your skin
color for blending harsh lines out of eyeshadow.

This is a tricky one because it depends on what sort of eye look you’re going for. I’m really liking the new Ungaro Avon Collection at the moment and there is a golden shadow in the collection that is ideal for blending out color and highlighting the brow plus will look lovely on your skin. I’d try this, I’m kinda in lust with it at the moment!

What are your fave blogs to read?

Hmmm fav blogs, so hard! I read alot. Rouge Deluxe (my dearest friend), Pursebuzz, Temptalia, Cosmetic Candy, Bjooti, Lipgloss Bitch, A Touch of Blusher, My Makeup Reviews, and My Women Stuff. I also “read” alot of Japanese and Korean blogs, read being loosely used of course.

Just wondering, what do you do with all that makeup? Don’t they expire
before you finish them?

Ummm honestly I don’t really give it a chance to expire. I rotate alot of items and stuff I’m not using is passed on to my sister, my friends, etc…or I swap items, etc…nothing ever really expires around here! It’s all put to very good use.

I don’t know why, but I have these blemishes on my nose. They’re not pimples,
more like tiny black dots. I can’t get rid of them no matter what! I think
they’re blackheads, but I don’t know what they are for sure. How should I get
rid of them?

They are indeed blackheads. You can use various methods but the best way is with a nose strip. Biore makes some that are good and also I use Mario Badescu Silver Powder which seems to help alot.

What are your favorite MAC Eyeshadows of all time?

Ooo that’s such an unfair question! I have TOO many that I love. I’ll tell you two that I love right now. Absolute favs of the moment are Gilt by Association and Cinderfella, must haves in my humble opinons.

Favorite blushes of all time? (Different colors, brands, textures)

Hmmm another unfair one! Way too many to list. I like shimmer finishes for sure. NARS Super Orgasm is a fav of mine, Benefit Posietint, Benefit Coralista, and I also love Clio Blushes. Oh and I can’t deny that I love everything the Balm puts out, my fav of the moment is Down Boy, every single blush product from the line is a winner.

That was really fun Crystal thanks for all the super interesting questions. I hope you liked the answers as much as I enjoyed the questions.

If you’d like to participate in the Mail Bag please e-mail.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. For blackheads I use the face shop’s white mud nose pack which I think is really good. Not only that, its cheap too! You should try it 🙂
