Musings of the Day: Can’t Make Up!

musingsof

Hey guys!

I found a really fun post on MUA today and it got me thinking a little bit. Someone started a poll which asked if anyone would want their own personal makeup artist. That was kinda exciting to think about so I clicked open the post and decided to read. Turns out there was a catch…..

The question is, would you want your own makeup artist? Someone to do your makeup daily, make you look gorgeous and flawless each and everyday…but the catch would be you couldn’t do your own makeup EVER again.

Jump to Muse with me!

Fun right? It really got me thinking. Prior to opening up the post I was all about saying OMG yes, yes, yes! I want my own personal makeup artist for sure. But after reading it fully and the exception being I could never do my own makeup again…well…my reply was simply NO!

As tempting a thought is of having my own personal makeup artist is I don’t think I’d ever want to stop doing my own makeup completely. Mind you I’m not exactly all that fab at application but I still find so much joy in the learning and the warm, fuzzy feeling of creating a great eye look that’s flawlessly blended! It’s kind of a yay feeling when I create something on my face that’s pretty!

What about you?

Would you want your very own MUA but giving up all rights to ever doing your makeup again?

Or would you be more like me?

Do share!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I’d want to do my own. I think it’s so fun. I’m such a terrible artist, but this is one art form I’m actually good at 🙂

    • the Muse

      hey marina.

I’m not awesome at application but I love it so much 🙂 it’s part of the fun of being a makeup lover so I’d never want to take that way and give it to someone else to do for me daily :)!

  • laura r

WAY more fun to DIY. it’s my own personal relaxation/exploration outlet.

    so no thanks.

    but awesome question!

    • the Muse

laura AGREED 😀 I might not be incredible at it but I have an awesome adventure each time I try something new 😀

without a question MUA sounds fab but I’d never give up the ability to do my own :)!

  • Kristina

It would be nice to have a professional do my makeup once in awhile. I rather enjoy playing with makeup though so I wouldn’t want it all the time either! I do want someone to do my hair for me though – I’m completely inept when it comes to hair.

    • the Muse

Oh my gosh kristina true dat! I’d love someone to do my hair daily…..! I normally tug it back and slap a headband on b/c I can’t be arsed to deal with the drama of styling it, blowing it out etc…now THAT I’d totally get on board with!

  • donna

So I could never do my own makeup again??? I think I might give it up to have Bobbi Brown do my makeup for me every single day. Her blush applications are so flawless. I love her!

    • the Muse

yup donna never ever again 😀 Only a MUA would touch your face 😀 even with BB doing makeup I’d still say no….I like doing my makeup too much hehe!

  • Jamie

i love makeup and i love applying it on me… although i’d love it even more if i can create all those looks!

so the answer to your question is.. I’d def. not want a MUA but will gladly become one 😀 that way i wouldn’t feel dependent on other people and I can look fab yet still enjoying the process of application 😀

    • the Muse

me too Jamie 😀 I do ok but no where anything like some girl’s have seen that blog :-D!

good answer jamie!!!!!!!! Becoming one would indeed be a great all around solution!

  • MC

As tempting as that would be….no. I have a lot of fun putting on my own make up, discovering new ways to do things, and well, it is a girly thing lol.

  • Chelsea

I agree with everyone else; I have way too much fun doing my own makeup to ever let anyone else do it. Sitting cross-legged at the mirror with my cup of coffee before the craziness of the day is one of my favorite rituals.

    • the Muse

aww chelsea I hear you! AM makeup regime is something I really look forward too!

  • Sandy

I’d let someone do it in a heartbeat. As long as I could still shop for it…

  • electronicfly

I don’t think I’ll wanna. 🙁 First off, we’ll probably still have to pay our personal makeup artist right? and secondly, like the other gals, I enjoy doing my own makeup, though I suck at it (am getting better, teehee)

    • the Muse

hehe eltronicfly me too..I’m not fab at it but I have damn fun trying 😀 hmmm I never thought about the pay part!

  • Heather

Hmmm. Welllllll if I could still shop for makeup and have input in what the MUA does I’d be up for it. 🙂
    If not…no way! Haha.

    • the Muse

LOL good idea heather :-D!!!! get a pre approval on my makeup purchases hehe!

    • the Muse

hmmm sue what do I think? I was thinking before you leave comments you should keep in mind that your IP address is the same one you used when e-mailing me to tell me about your skincare blog. I also think it’s a good idea to remember that I know who you are on MUA and youTube. Youdee/Mufey/Daniel/May…so many names to choose from. Before you leave a comment next time perhaps think a little more about it. If you’d like to discuss manners or how to be an adult do e-mail me maybe I can teach you a thing or two about it. Your petty nasty ways are a little transparent and a little scary troll-like.

      Cheers!
      Have a really great holiday!

  • Connie

Me too. I may not be a pro but I have fun doing my own makeup. And my sister’s….and my cousins even though they might not enjoy it. =P

  • rochness

nah. i’m a newbie but i like tinkering around with make up using them brushes. it’s just so nice to have a brush for applying this and that (only it will make you a poorio rather quickly. them brushes can be pricey! hot diggity dawg, i was suprised)

after reading a bajillion sites i reckon practicing is the only way to go to reach some level of MUA-dom. the last time i ‘practiced’ though, i almost rubbed my eyes out from applying and reapplying eye makeup =P

    • the Muse

LOL true rochness 😀 brush sets are GOOD though especially around this time of the year!!!!!!! It’s easy to get good deals on brush sets around holidays 🙂

LOL I understand! I practice alot too…I’m kinda ok with application but def NO expert!

  • DivaShop

Nah, I enjoy putting on my makeup, it’s so much fun! Every once in awhile would be cool though! I’m not good at doing hair either, which is one reason I like it best when it’s short. Right now I need to get it cut though. It’s in the awkward, shaggy, growing out stage, UGH!

    • the Muse

I feel the same way Gloria! I enjoy it so much 😀 Awww! Been through that stage know how you feel! Mine is VERY long and VERY wavy so I keep it tied back but I let it flow for parties or special occasions otherwise up in a bun it goes!

  • su-pah

Nyaah, as much as I hate to admit how mundane my life is, I absolute adore applying make-up every morning, it’s the best part and is therapeutic, totally relaxes me.

  • irini

i have such a complex with my skills and confidence so i would have one to make me preeeeeettyyyyy!BUT i would still go around at beauty blogs and make up sites and shop for my own cosmetics!no MUA could take that joy away from me!

    • the Muse

      hi irini 😀

I like shopping and applying myself so I’d def not love an MUA for myself 🙂

  • Tina Matuchniak

No way, no how! Half the fun is in “playing.” I like being my own MUA . . . although using the word “artist” when it comes to me is a bit of a stretch 🙂

    • the Muse

LOL a real stretch for me too Tina…artist is a bit much for me 😀 but I love playing!

  • MandyP

Only if it was done by Pat McGrath or the ghost of Kevin Aucoin.

PS: Can I also have someone to remove my makeup at the end of the day, or must I do everything myself?

    • the Muse

Mandy is that you!? hells yes I’d dig someone taking my makeup off at the end of the day!

  • Del

YES, YES, YES! LOL…get the pic? I would love to be pampered in that sense and add a hairstylist on top of that & I’d be set…although do I get a say in this makeup business? What if I got this horrible MUA that wanted to do random animal looks everyday? hahaha…Can you imagine having a leopard look one day then an ostrich look another day? Sounds kinda fun, but much too extreme for this gal. Surprised at how few would want a personal MUA, but then again most people reading your blog like to play with makeup…does that mean I’m lazy? LOL
