Since telling you about the benefits of being down with Sephora V.I.B. yo, you’ve all asked me many a time please Muse tell us more about the gift cards.
And the Muse replies…..but I dunno.
Everyone has been in an uproar about the who, the why, the when, the how much….and no one knew anything. I’ve called Sephora stores and Sephora online but couldn’t get a confirmation. Yesterday, I spoke to thee perfect person to tell me all about what was going on with the Sephora V.I.B. Beauty Insider Gift Cards and she said, “Muse they are going out now..”
So of course I raced to my inbox but nothing.
But today….cue dramatic music…today my gift card came in my e-mail! Yay! Now I honestly don’t know how it comes about or how much you have to spend but so far I’m hearing tales of $10 and $20. Since I did CP’s for friends plus my own personal shopping and gift shopping I spent at least $600 or more at Sephora during Friends and Family (remember that isn’t all my own stuff) and I ended up with a $20 gift card. I’m curious if there are any higher amounts out there or is $20 the highest? Some may rant it’s not a whole lot but personally it’s free money so I’m happy!
Either way I’m gonna spend it hard! You can spend it online or print it out and purchase in store.

I did! Get this, so I had to spend $25 or $35 to get the $15 off. I went to the closest Sephora to me, which is in a JC Penny’s and it’s really new.
I ended up picking up Lorac’s Auburn Eyebrow Pencil ($19), Anastasia’s classic eyebrow stencils ($20) and a Sephora slanted eyeliner/eyebrow brush ($10). In addition to the $15 off, they also gave me 20% off as they said they were having a Friends and Family sale. So I was pretty pleased.

lol I hate that we end up spending more whenever we get coupons that’s the worst! I always say ok I’m spending the coupon only and end up with $50-$100 worth of stuff!

Hey Muse. Glad you got your gift card! Unfortunately I stilll didn’t get mines yet =__= word on the street is that VIBs get a $20 GC and Beauty Insider gets $15 no matter how much you spent. Seems like they chucked that “the more you spend the more you get!” thing since everyone’s getting the same set amount. Liars..

My friend and I are Beauty Insiders and we got a $15 Gift Card to be used with $35 purchase. I think it’s great. I’m so happy but I don’t know what to get! So many great deals and gifts going on..this is a great December

I got $20. I’m not sure how much I’ve spent there in the past few months… but it’s definitely been a few hundred dollars. (Shame…) I had no idea the gift card was coming so I was very happy!

I got $20 and already spent it. I FINALLY got the Fresh Strawberry Gardens set and a Peter Thomas Roth product (never used that line before).
I was going to try using it in the store also, but I have a feeling my diabolical plan won’t work…

I spent between $100 and $200 at the FF sale and my v.i.b. coupon is for $15. I am pretty excited! I also heard on MUA that some people were getting coupons via snail mail? Oh well, I am happy with my email coupon (but the more coupons the better, right?).

Hey muse! I got fifteen dollars off of a purchase greater than thirty-five dollars. I find this very generous. I can now get my friend’s Christmas presents for 15 dollars cheaper than I would have yesterday (of course I wont tell them that haha). So I’m happy

I am confused about how I got one, since I only have 216 points in my beauty bank and haven’t cashed any in yet (isn’t VIB status for 350 or more?). But I got one for $15. Although the fine print says a $35 merchandise purchase is required. Maybe the VIB certificates don’t have that caveat?

i think the highest is $20… i don’t shop at sephora much and i got one for $15. in the email, the instructions for the SA say “enter BI $15 or $20 GC” or something like that so i think the highest was $20 =)

I haven’t gotten mine yet and I’m dying! Someone on MUA said that they were told that Sephora was slowly rolling them out so the customers don’t crash their site at all once with orders. I have definitely spent enough to quality, so I am trying to patiently wait!

I got my card several days ago. It is for $15. You have to activate it before you can use it. That took me a couple of days because Sephora was having trouble with its server. Now I’m all set. Just have to decide what to spend it on!

UPDATE: Used my gift card towards the Bare Minerals Sweet Obsessions collection. Tried one of the suggested looks as soon as I got home and boyfriend said I looked beautiful! Awwww.
Oh, it came to only $48, so ended up buying NARS “Silent Night” limited edition eyeshadow for $9. Haven’t tried it yet.

[course i talked myself up to $50 for free shipping, such a sucker.] anyway grand total = $34.76

Anyway, I made a purchase immediately on Sephora. I got:
- Sephora Square Retractable Lip Brush #60
- Benefit Lust Dusters Trio (Snow Bunny, Nugget, Goldilocks)
- Stila The Precious Pearl Palette
- NARS Silent Night Single Eye Shadow (this is a $9 special!!!)
I got all of this for $51 (before the GC). Because this discount is in GC form, I was able to pick up a DDF Glycolic Exfoliating Wash sample as well. I also got the new 500-pt Beauty Insider perk (the nail polish I mentioned yesterday) and a 100-pt perk (Miss Dior Cherie deluxe sample). I also used Bing cashback to get $10.20 back! I saved sooo much money and got a lot of things, I’m so excited!

I’m really disappointed – they advertised “the more you spend, the bigger it is!” – I know I bought a certain things from Sephora instead of elsewhere, rationalizing that it would add to my year-end total and a slightly bigger gift card at the end of the year. But it’s the same for all VIBs – $20 and you have to spend $35 to get it in the first place, so it’s actually a *coupon*, not a gift card. So I could have spent the absolute minimum and gotten exactly the same amount. Way to reward loyalty, Sephora.
Honestly, I don’t think I’m going to be spending big bucks at Sephora anymore. On the plus side, this has driven me to buy directly from the makeup companies I love and I’ve discovered that you actually get better perks that way than with Sephora (like Smashbox’s awesome “Let’s Do Lunch” deal! I never knew about it before!).
