The Muse’s Gift Ideas: Give the Gift of Home Fragrance

Gift Ideas from the Muse

Outside of makeup the Muse is kinda sorta obsessed with tarts and home fragrance oils. Anyone with me here?

Here are a few of my favorite gifts for tart lovers!

Jump!

I realize there must be at least one person around who is sitting there thinking but what’s a tart? A tart is a tiny wax cake which is placed in a tart warmer. A tart warmer is a bowl with a votive candle under it. The tart is placed in the bowl, the votive is lit, and as the tart melts it releases a beautiful aroma into the air fragrancing your home with any number of lovely scents!

Now Yankee Candle is probably the most well known place around for getting tarts but they are pretty expensive in some cases. A friend of mine calls it burning money whenever I light up a tart!

Best gift idea?

Take a trip to your local Yankee Candle and select any number of their whimsical tart warmers for a gift. Get a really pretty box to put the warmer in than head to some of my favorite haunts for some of thee best tarts on the planet to give along with that beautiful new tart warmer you purchase. The receiver of the warmer and tarts will be absolutely delighted with the gift plus it’s a rather unique experience for many people who are either already into the joys of candles and tarts or for those who never tried them before.

Check out Whiff and Sniff Candles for Winter Wonderland Shooter Packs (12 Tarts for $10)

Whiff and Sniff have fantastic tarts. Each tart is housed in a tiny container so you pop it out, right into your warmer, light, and enjoy!

Single Shooter Tarts are a mere $1 each and available in over 40 scents! Each tart is strong smelling and long lingering and if the Muse dare say better than Yankee Candle Tarts on so many levels.

Currently the turn around time at Whiff and Sniff is a day or two but e-mail and ask to be sure your order will arrive in time for the Holidays!

My second favorite place to purchase great smelling tarts in over 300 scents (TONS of scents to choose from) would be LOL Candles. LOL Candle presents tarts in the standard scalloped design (much like Yankee Candle), PoppTart Design (container), Heart Shaped, or Clam Shell Breakaway Tarts. Prices range from $1.70 per a tart or 12 packs ranging in price from $19-$20.

As with Whiff and Sniff these are sincerely strong smelling and longer lingering. The size of the PoppTarts is HUGE so you can get some strong burn time out of them.

Be sure to check with LOL prior to ordering as turn around time is at 7-16 days. Make sure to e-mail to be sure your order will arrive in time for the Holidays!

The Muse thinks a cute little tart warmer, with some tarts, and a few votives makes the perfect little gift for Christmas. It’s not makeup but it’s just as great.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. If you’re that person feel free to reach out and leave a comment or follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Bloglovin‘.

Candlefind.com is a great place to discover more tart/candle vendors. The Spotted Hog is another great one, but there are many, MANY more to choose from. Many of them also do bath & body products, like Cleanse Your Soul (awesome and a HUGE scent list!) and Grumpy Girl.

I have parrots so I can’t burn candles (something in the wick causes, like, instant death when inhaled by my tropical friends), and it kills me because I’m a home scents kind of girl. So thank you for introducing me to tarts!

omg chelsea really?! that’s weird!!!!! what kind of parrots? Are they big? do they talk? sounds fun 😀 I had no idea about them being deathly to birds! I think the tarts should be ok but what about the votive? As you have to light the votive candle and that has a wick 🙁

They have ELECTRIC tart warmers too for those who can’t burn candles because of pets, fire regulations, etc 🙂 Seriously, you plug the warmer in, put a tart in, and turn it on, and it gently melts the tart, no flame required 🙂 They’re awesome 🙂 Sometimes Yankee sells them, but I know that Grumpy Girl Candles does too ( see it here: … however, you might be able to find a cheaper one by searching around on the Net.

I love tart warmers! I am a huge fan of Candles By Victoria’s. Have you ever tried hers? My faves are the scent shots – I usually break them in half or thirds. She puts in something like triple the fragrance oils so they have the best scent throw of any other tarts I have ever tried!!

LOL. Two of them are medium, and one is really, really little. He’s a Pacific parrotlet, which is the world’s smallest parrot! He wolf whistles, but not much else. The other two say a few things: step up, I love you, wow, no, hey there, ut-oh, hola, whatcha doing, and nite nite. They are really, really into my makeup; they “help” me put it on every morning, turning the brushes over in their claws, picking up lipsticks, etc. Although ever since Belle randomly screamed “No!” and dashed a Nars shadow duo to the ground, breaking it ($$$), they help from across the room.

I have some bird-safe votives I keep handy for blackouts (common in San Diego with the earthquakes and the fires and what have you), they’ll be perfect for tarts! Ever since adopting my first bird, I’ve been scenting my home by placing Lush soaps in little dishes all around the house. 🙂

Hey, just thought I’d pop by and help for a second! You can buy electric tart warmers, that plug into the wall and heat up– thus no need to light a candle at all! Search ebay or google and you’ll find them. 🙂

hi jessica thanks for the tip. I def have one or two but I prefer tealights for some reason 😀 but those are def safer!
