Would You Buy It? The Complete Smashbox Heartbreaker Spring 2010 Collection

by the Muse on December 15, 2009

in Smashbox, Spring Collections 2010, Would You Buy It?

Somebody stop me please! I’m so tempted by the Smashbox Heartbreak 7 Piece Spring Collection on QVC.

Smashbox Heartbreaker Spring 2010 Collection 11

Tell me I don’t need this?

Jump!

So it’s going to set me back $181 plus $8.47, if I break it down that’s like $27 per piece….kinda pricey, wince.

It’s basically the entire Smashbox Spring 2010 Collection bundled up in one nice package, really WANTS it but dude the price kind of sways me. I don’t have the prices yet of each piece so I wonder if I’m saving if I buy the complete set.

Ho-hum.

Question is would you buy it?

I’m really liking the looks of the lip shines, Fusion Soft Lights, and roller gloss…and I admit the palettes are tempting….

Ugh!

Talk me out of it chicas!

And tell me would you buy it?

Item Number A188273 on QVC if you find you can’t control yourself a la the Muse.

I honestly don’t think it’s that great. The products look cute, but kinda cheap in my opinion. I dont think it’s worth the $181. The products don’t seem to be worth the 27 dollars a piece. Maybe if it were closer to $100 for the whole collection, I’d consider hauling it. But there are many products more worth my money than this. Hope that helps haha.

I like that $100 price tag sarah :-D totally helped but I’m still diseased and want it :-D lol! Honestly the palettes kinda look uneventful so far but we shall see…DO love the glosses :-D

The only thing that has me curious is the palettes…but those don’t even make me want to throw my money at Smashbox. The price is kind of staggering…but good makeup is always a nice investment. I always stop to think before I buy something: is it practical? Can I use it many different ways? Dress it up, or wear it casually? Do I have things to match? Will I use it more than just during one season? I guess it all comes down to that…I just don’t see much spark in this collection. Not wowed.

marina I ordered them b/c the price was right but they do look a tad uneventful but maybe they’ll surprise me :-D I sadly feel always pressed to buy items b/c I really want to review them on Musings! :-D ! But honestly I’ve scaled back alot lately…but this…I dunno something tempted me :_D

So they have the whole collection listed on sephora w/ prices, it’s not in stock yet, but I added up everything and it equals $181, so you aren’t saving anything! Did you also see on qvc that they have the two piece heartbreaker lip set for only $27? That is a good deal, I might have to get one.

thanks krystal! I didn’t even notice that darling! :-D Also did you see the special holiday price on the palettes? $23.71 that was a deal. Now if they didn’t charge shipping on every single piece I’d be happy indeed!

Aww…well, the answer is YES, I would buy it … that is, if I had $190 to spend!!! I love some of Smashbox’s stuff, but it can get a little pricey, and some of the stuff isn’t always worth it. However, that Fusion Soft Lights would be something I’d get separately…. those are always awesome :) The glosses are cute too. Interestingly, even though I’m a total eye shadow freak, I’m just not feeling these palettes right now…. hmmm…..

Hey Jen!

I love this soft lights it looks SO pretty :-D mmm I’m the same palettes look uneventful. I got them as they were on sale but I have a feeling they aren’t going to be anything that I absolutely LOVE! :-D I’m really like the glosses that’s for sure and love the soft lights :-D !!!!!!!!!

I shouldn’t have really hauled but I was bad…again!

It does seem pricey though for the set.

I don’t think I would buy it because I have a stupid amount of Smashbox lip glosses and eyeshadows, and there are only a couple of colours calling to me in these palettes – however I HAVE to have the Softlights Fusion!

the Muse December 16, 2009 at 7:30 am

bakeneko the softlights looks incredible, one of the nicest ones I’ve seen them do :-D wants! I’m always disappointed in smashbox gloss for some reason but these look nice, think it’s the colors calling to me!

I love their lip glosses but I don’t like the way some smell like cinnamon – yucky!

Sarah December 15, 2009 at 8:23 pm

Ahhh! At that price which is well over £150 for a collection is WAY too much, and I don’t think they look that special and for something so expensive. You could probably buy the whole Dior 2010 spring collection for that price, and that looks so pretty. Its probably personal preference though, I’ve never tried smashbox, however Debenhams have started stocking it, it all seems a bit, not-special. Dior do a Liner like that, and I think Rimmel has released one too but cheaper. Spring Dior looks has a lovely lace blush which looks so beautiful too! But I think thats so so so expensive for things that don’t look too special.

valid point Sarah :-D Def can haul all of Dior 2010 for this price :-D I’m just a makeup junkie I fear :( I like the look of the glosses and the palettes so I can’t help myself but you’re very right, Dior would prob run me about the same price :)

The way I convince myself not to buy things is I think about how many groceries that could buy me. $180? Think about how many baked potatoes that is, or cups of coffee, main meals, just standard ‘being alive’ grocery shopping.

Or, think about how much you get paid an hour. I’m a student, so I used to get paid around $10 an hour for my part-time job. That’s 18 hours of work. 6 hour shifts, that’s three days. Would you work three days unpaid, for it? If so, then get it. If not… don’t!

hey anastasia! Honestly I try to think of it in terms of “things I need to blog about” ;-D but food, groceries, etc…are def more important, I was a college student at one time too and know how hard it is!

muse!!! i just ordered the cool palette while watching the presentation, the “holiday surprise” price @ $10 off sealed the deal and looks so pretty on the models.
i should seriously be banned from all forms of shopping. i hope there aren’t more pieces on sale tonight, i’ll be in trouble!
just buy the pieces you want, hopefully that comes out to less??
;)

I know! I was skimming through tivo just now with my morning tea and said OMG holiday surprise price. Dina you’re actually right it’s cheaper to simply buy pieces as the entire collection is a rip. I got the two palettes, glosses, and soft fusion for less than the original price buying them separately :-D

I know I’ll never pull off those looks with the palette though, holly makes it look soooo simple.

dina December 16, 2009 at 8:19 am

i know, loved the eyes last night! can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the soft fusion. i’m now stalking that and 1 or maybe both glosses. so pretty!!
p.s. this is a disease i tell you! ;)

Reply

the Muse December 16, 2009 at 8:28 am

LOL a complete disease dina :-D I actually purchased both gloss sets (gonna give the second roller away to a friend), the two palettes, and the soft fusion. I think perhaps the palettes may turn into a meh for me as they look uneventful but I chalk it up as “I have to tell everyone on Musings about them…” that justifies the cost you see LOL!

Knowing me I will be a little heavier with my hand when creating the looks and they won’t look as soft and romantic as the ones they did last night oh wellsz :)

I bought the kiss and tell palette because I loved how it looked on the models. I hope I can replicate it, you’re right Holly makes it look so sime

Oh, it’s so tempting! The price is pretty outrageous though. I’d totally go for the glosses and Fusion Soft Lights, but none of the other stuff. Although, the palette with the teal shadow is winkin’ at me, lol!

They have it all on Sephora-there is no discount to buy it all together, they’re the same price. But Holy Hell how much fun it would be to get all the crap bundled up in the mail!!?? I think I need to but myself a Holiday gift. My opinion it’s worth the $$- so damn cute!
