Yay or Nay: Bobbi Brown Mini Shimmer Bricks

Morning dolls!

How’s everyone today? Today I’m drooling over the new Neiman Marcus Exclusive Bobbi Brown Mini Shimmer Bricks.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick

Jump!

So what do you think? Cute right? These limited edition collectible Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks are housed in a metal compact and come with a velvet pouch.

Now keep in mind that Bobbi’s regular version is priced to own at $38 but the minis are $45. Mmm I know your mentality is probably the same as mine and you’re thinking, “Wait it’s smaller with a bigger price tag?” There be a reason for everything dears. The casing is quite luxe and posh as it’s a heavy metal compact.

These are available in three exclusive shades (not so exclusive as Nectar releases later this year with the Bobbi Brown Cabana Coral Collection) which are Nectar, Plum, and Sandstone.

The shades look quite vibrant and rich online (haven’t seen them in person yet) compared to prior brick releases and just overall gorgeous, particularly Nectar and Plum stand out for me.

Question is, would it be a yay or a nay for this Muse.

On a whole it’s a big fat yay. I can’t hit pan on any of my bricks so these are the perfect size for me plus I love the shade selection. I’m not minding the slight price jack as the packaging is pretty posh. It’s a nay in general as I have too much going on right now to indulge but maybe soon.

How about you?

Are Bobbi Brown Mini Shimmer Bricks a yay or a nay?

Why yay?

Why nay?

Spill!

Available now from Neiman Marcus.

It’s a NAY for me. I wish she would have put this out as a set and while I understand the more luxe packaging, it would have been a lot more fair if they were the same price as the normal line… they are already smaller! I might have been more willing to splurge if they were smaller OR more expensive not both!

    • the Muse

      hey jeweled thumb!

I was thinking the same about them being smaller and more $$ but erika from makeup bag just said they actually have almost the same amount of product inside 😀 so actually you’re paying more for the posher packaging 😀

  • MC

Yay! I love pretty packaging and I don’t mind paying the extra. Shimmer Bricks are awesome and I want to snag a Nectar. XD

    • the Muse

hey mc word out on the street is they are of the same size in regards to the powder so that’s good news 😀

  • Kristin

I was going to order both Plum and Nectar, until I read last week about the Nectar coming out in the Spring collection. So I just ordered the Plum two days ago (along with one of the Neiman Marcus exclusive YSL Golden Glosses!) and my order just shipped today. Can’t wait to get it next week!

    • the Muse

omg the golden glosses look incredible kristen I’m so jealous 😀 Enjoy! And good haul on plum, particularly when nectar will be here soon for Spring!

  • Iris

Just bought it earlier this evening 🙂 We’re totally on the same wavelength, girl!

  • Lisa Kate

Total and complete “nay” from me! Don’t hit me, but I actually don’t like the shimmer bricks, I find them TOO MUCH on my pale skin! I generally like loose powder highlighters better…they just look more “glowy” on me instead of “OMG she looks like a sparkley twilight vampire!”.

Plus, the whole price thing pisses me off. Because I’m poor and $45 is groceries for like 5 days for two people. Or because I could get 45 blush samples for that. *sigh*

    • the Muse

Lisa that’s pretty understandable. my friend has super milky skin and it’s kinda way too much for her! LOL 😀 I tend to look like a sparkley twilight vampire when I get started hahaha! but but blush is so much more important when compared to groceries…haha kidding but totally understand!

  • Aretha

hahah muse love your captions! you are the cutest ! ^_~ i’ll have to make a visit to my nearest BB counter to see if they are worth the price or not

    • the Muse

lol glad you enjoyed aretha, feeling a bit silly here today 😀

I’m hearing they are same size as regular in quantity so I’m thinking I need a haul!

  • Connie

yay! I’m a sucker for pretty packaging and the nectar color looks lovely! I’ve the reg size in nude so at least I’m only splurging on 1!

    • the Muse

connie I see myself hauling one too, plum! 😀 Nectar I can get in the Spring and Sandstone is a meh 😀 total sucker for the packaging myself so yayayayay!

  • Mary

I don’t think so. We’re in a recession, people! Most people I know are trying to cut back and aren’t willing to shell out extra money for fancy packaging, even on their splurges.

    • the Muse

      hi mary.

we sure are and yes many folks are trying to cut back for sure!

Appears that these actual have the same amount of product, or close to a regular shimmer brick however they still are a little extra, I guess it’s the packaging that’s making them a bit.

  • Susan

    Hey muse!

I checked these out at my bb counter last weekend and they’re definately super cute! But they’re 3g each, and I think the normal ones are 8/9 g so it’s less than half the product. I don’t think I’ll be buying one despite the nectar and plum ones being suuuuuper pretty! 🙁

    • the Muse

      hi susan!

I couldn’t find ANYWHERE online that gave the exact size, thanks babe! Erika from makeup bag was saying they are almost the same size as a normal one but 8.9 is considerably larger.

I bet they pop up as big sizes sooner or later!!!!!!!!!!

  • Vonvon

Got myself the Nectar during their exclusive preview here. Still considering Plum. The colors are moderately pigmented…though the Plum looks purple, when applied on cheeks, it looks really good!

    • the Muse

vonvon dying for nectar!!!!!!!! 😀 very jealous! I really want plum but may wait on it for now 🙂

  • gio

It’s a nay from me. These look very pretty but I refuse to pay more for fancy packaging when the product is actually smaller! I would have splurged if the price was less expensive or if they came in a set, but as it is, it’s not worth the price tag for me.

    • the Muse

      hey gio!

I understand how you feel. I’d have LOVED a set 😀 I’m stilling lemming plum drool!

  • Tina Matuchniak

Nay for me, I’m afraid 🙁 Bobbi Brown is always a little rich for me.

    • the Muse

hey tina! awww def no eh? that’s ok on to the next fab makeup find right? 🙂

  • Kim

yay. I’m a mini freak, I already got it. When i first heard of it I was put off by the price, but in Taiwan (where I live) it’s only about $2US more than the real thing. And it looked too cute and pretty. I broke down and got one in nectar I (sucker for corals), even though plum is more pigmented.

    • the Muse

hey kim that’s not too bad a price difference 😀 I’m a sucker for minis too! 😀 I can’t wait for the nectar this spring! enjoy yours doll!

  • Connie

holy crap these mini shimmer bricks are tiny but sooo cute! I picked up Nectar today for $25!

If you donate $25 to NM first book, you get a $50 gift card to spend during the promotion. Not too bad!

    • the Muse

whoa sweetness connie! thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!! 😀 Enjoy Nectar, so jealous, WANT!

  • Jamie

damn it 🙁 i just got myself a shimmer brick over a week ago.. i dont even know which collection its from but its called Pink.. maybe its a perm i wouldn’t know…
Pink is really pale and i don’t see anything on me at all.. i’m kind of disappointed at the color (or the lack of) lol
Plum looks like a really yummy color, but i dont know if any shimmer brick shows off some color on skin? i’m just using mine as a highlighter now and what sucks is that i dont really know how to apply a highlighter hahaha
so yeah. i’m not sure if its worth it to own more than one shimmer brick 😀

and my shimmer contains like 10g of product! I’ll never finish this stuff so i’d acutally love to get a smaller 3g version 🙂

    • the Muse

hi jamie sorry for the delayed reply hun!

I know which one you mean, pink is kinda pale 😛 Mmm I dunno I haven’t tried ’em yet but I do find using a kabuki sometimes builds up color more, plum sure does look pigmented that’s for sure!

Heck I own way too many of these and honestly don’t need more than one either, never get through them all!
