Beauty News: CVS Beauty 360 Launches Website

As you may already know CVS is hitting the beauty market with a new prestige beauty retail store entitled Beauty 360. Beauty 360 launched in November 2008 in select CVS locations and basically provides access to higher end skin care, hair care, fragrance, and cosmetics.

www.beauty360.com is now your online shopping portal to the brand new beauty shop if you’re not one of the lucky eight to have one in your local area, yup only eight locations are open as of the moment but more will be coming your way in 2010.

CVS Beauty 360 will still carry your fav drugstore beauty finds but you can also shop additional prestigious brands such as Cargo, 100% Pure, Calvin Klein, Juicy Couture, Laura Geller, Pop Beauty, H20+, and many more. Many of the brands you’ll be able to shop for were only once available at exclusive shops or counters but are now right at home at at Beauty 360 locations and online at www.beauty360.com.

The Muse is always talking about the evolution of drugstore cosmetics and this is one step above and beyond that. With the introduction of Beauty 360 stores, CVS will be playing in the realms of Ulta and Sephora. It’s an interesting turn of events and I look forward to watching it play out.

What do you think of Beauty 360 stores?

Would you shop there if it opens in your area?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. it happens paloma 🙂 I was in a rush when I edited. Sorry, all worked out.

Since the masses are already used to shopping at CVS vs. Sephora and Ulta, I bet CVS Beauty will be very profitable for the various product lines. Incidentally, one of the sales associates at Sephora told me that Laura Gellar had violated her contract with Sephora by signing with CVS Beauty, and as result, Sephora decided to end their contract with her — that’s why her products are all on sale.

hey johanna I don’t know if I completely agree as I do think it’s possibly split down the middle of those that shop Sephora/Ulta, MAC, counter, and drugstores. I doubt more than half the fem pop is shopping CVS versus Sephora and other higher ends but who knows 🙂

Interesting I hadn’t heard any of that myself and unsure if that’s even true as Sephora has also axed Cargo from the line. I think it’s prob just a matter of LG, Cargo, Etc…moving on.

Oh awesome, there’s one opening near me soon in San Mateo 🙂 I wonder how soon, though.

    • the Muse

dangster I really have to look and see if we have one in new york i haven’t bothered lookin’ count me curious to visit!

I would looove this. I recently moved from a big city to a rather podunk locale. No Sephora or Ulta here, so this would be EXTREMELY welcome!!

    • Mae

OH, and by podunk, I don’t mean it’s rural. It’s actually the capital of my state (Tallahassee, FL). But the shopping here is god-awful, and there is NO excuse not to have a beauty store in a “college town”! Sigh.

      • the Muse

grrr that stinks Mae. Totally can’t live without at least a sephora 😀 but at least you got online shoppin’!

The beauty-boutique-within-a-pharmacy is actually something that Shoppers Drug Mart has done successfully in Canada for several years. I imagine the same will be true in this case, as people who might be more habitually budget-conscious will shop at a drugstore, but might be drawn to splurge or “buy up” at the higher end boutique. I think the online option is great, attached as it is th CVS’s general site.

By the way, from what I know, the move for Cargo was voluntary, as they will be focusing their relationship with Sephora on being a top brand at the Sephora in JC Penney locations.

same for Boots UK Maggie as they carry higher and lower 😀 I agree! I love the idea. I thought as much, Sephora rotates brands constantly so I didn’t foresee any bad blood, simply a company moving on 😀
      thanks for your comment!

Oh, I hope a Beauty 360 ends up at the CVS near my house! There’s some kind of drug store inside Bed Bath and Beyond too, which I was really impressed with. Thanks for the info! 🙂

hey claudia I noticed that BBB is carrying ALOT of beauty lately 😀 360 looks rockin’!
