The new Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows is the latest in the BoS range of palettes. This is the 3rd palette of this caliber and houses 12 popular Urban Decay Eye Shadows renamed for characters in the book. The palette also features an Urban Decay Primer Potion and two Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Liners.

Part of the novelty and appeal of the palette are the colors that have been chosen for the palette which have a certain Alice theme such as Alice’s own color a bright shade of teal that we’ve come to associate with Alice’s eyes and dress.

For some this will become an instant classic item that must be collected at all costs. For others it’ll be appealing because of it’s wide variety of shadows.

Whatever your reasons there isn’t a doubt in my mind at this point that the Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows is the most coveted palette in the makeup world at the moment and much anticipated by Alice fans and Urban Decays far and wide.

I know for myself the appeal stems from the sweet pop up design displaying a scene from the film (book). Truly it’s an exciting release and I’m eager to get my greedy hands on it.

But…most important.

What do you think of the Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows?

Will you be purchasing?

Loves it?

Leaves it?

Do share your thoughts!

Whether I buy this or not depends on which shadows they put in it. I’m hoping Queen=Gash & Absolom=Mildew, which looked like a possibility in a pic or 2 I’d seen. However, the more I see of the palette, the more I think they’re putting in the same favorite shadows they’ve put in several of the other palettes, like Last Call, Midnight Cowboy, Baked, and/or Grifter. Been there, done that, spent the $ already.

hey auro!

Queen is Lasy Call and Absolom is Homegrown from what i know :) but don’t quote me. It is favorites yes, they aren’t new shades but general catalog ones. Midnight Cowboy isn’t it :) but Midnight Cowboy Rides again….I’m gonna see which are which when I get it but they palette is advertised as “favorites” so nothing exclusive or new in shades but still the novelty is definitely the cute packaging :) plus great intro of you don’t already have the shades for sures!

Hmmm. Yeah, I had a feeling that was Last Call. I already had the single & then got it in BOS I (plus other palettes have it, that I don’t own), but I really don’t need it again.

Besides, with the RED Queen, the White Queen with her RED lips, and Gash being one of UD’s first shadows, it all seemed to fit well together. Oh well, I guess it didn’t hurt to hope, right?

*prods auro* you need it anyway. you know you want it. tempt, tempt, tempt…! hehe

Yeah, kinda. Seriously though, if this thing isn’t super special & has tons of colors I’d love to have, and since UD doesn’t take Food Stamps, me thinks I’ll be skipping this one. If it wasn’t for the fact that I save my pennies to make a little splurge here and there, I’d have almost nothing, but when it comes to UD, I’m an old fan.

i dont even know how i’ll be getting my hands on this, but i’m surely going to try! i’m def a fan of the book, and i’d like to try the Urban Decay line. what better way? great review!!!

GOSH I am freakin in a nervous state right now…and I am dirt poor right now…even though I bloody work for the state!! grrr too many gifts to buy for my sister’s house and not yet born baby!!! So I can’t spend jack on myself…but for sure…I gotta grab this…I’ve seen reviews already on youtube from other gurus who got it early!!

I gotta do everything to get my hands on one…even pay my phone bill late a few days hhahahaha thats the plan *bad bad*

the Muse January 13, 2010 at 11:15 am

hey suz! I know I see pursebuzz’s! AHH! I ran around in circles watching it LOL! awww :( believe me it’s that time of the year you know? Tax season, broke after the holidays, etc…grrrr! I have a funny feeling it’ll be around a little bit if it sales well..and doh it WILL! haha! I’m sure it won’t sell out that fast, or at least I hope not! :)

LOL!!!!! you got it figured out dontcha!?

Phyrra January 13, 2010 at 11:13 am

I might purchase it. I really really am obsessed with Alice in Wonderland. I’m just worried about being disappointed with the shadows because you know I love the eye shadow finishes like Half-Baked, Twice Baked, Sellout, Flipside, Asphyxia, Frigid, but I hate the finishes like on Midnight Cowboy Rides Again.

Reply

the Muse January 13, 2010 at 1:00 pm

I think you’ll like this dd as the shades seem to run towards more of a satiny finish and not the glittery bits such as MCRA

Reply

suz January 13, 2010 at 11:18 am

I watched hers lol! didn’t you want to snatch it out of her hand! Like how the heck she get it before me type of thing!

heck yeah….but then again I gotta weigh the pros and cons of paying my bills late….which comes first phone or makeup? hmmmm….so hardddddd

But why the heck do they have to come out with the collection this week?! why couldn’t they wait for me until…like say MARCH……*I am important :D * lol

lets hope it’s not more than $45! 0_O

the Muse January 13, 2010 at 2:52 pm

aimee def. I think the colors are smoother and alot less glittery it appears. some even look like deluxe shadows regular then the standard catalog! :)

Hi Muse
I really want this palette but no one can tell WHEN it will be available in the UK. UD just say: “UKers will be able to snatch up an Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows at Debenhams when it launches” But I really want this palette. I don’t have the 1st BOS, but I have Vol 2 and I really like it.

Hi! :D

I was looking at the video review done by pursebuzz last night and was drooling everywhere. I also did my rounds of searching for release dates as most are US. i saw on a site that the UK release is on March 5th 2010, however this is only going by the site.

I was shocked when she was duping some of them with previous urban decay shadows, but tbh I don’t think i mind as i don’t have other bos’s and the shades are so so nice. I’ll have to see the RRP for this when it’s released in the UK as I do have the ammo palette [which is nice] and some of the colours are from that palettes.

:)

the Muse January 13, 2010 at 1:00 pm

sarah I seen her review too GAG! OMG WANT ;-D I heard Feb 3rd but I’ll get full details for you! I don’t mind either, the novel is the palette, it’s simply adorable.

I am so excited to get this, I dont own any of the UD palettes except the UD BOS the very first one, so I know I wont have any duplicates =) I most definitely will get this on friday =) I wonder if this is going to come out at sephora, and should I wait to get it there to build up my beauty points?

Reply

the Muse January 13, 2010 at 7:04 pm

hey daisy! Isn’t it gorg!? I’d get it on Friday it seems like it’s going to sell out fast from the way UD predicts it. Might as well grab it while the grabbing is good. Not sure if Sephora will have, I imagine yes but maybe a month down the road :)

Reply

the Muse January 13, 2010 at 7:48 pm

mmm sophia I heard that but UD tweeted it’s not the case. It is LE but not limited to 2000 pieces :) from what I understand!

Wow, UD has really recycled shades. The last UD palettes I bought was years and years ago. They were in a tiny silver metallic case. Crap I’m old, anyway…it’s just shocking how many shades were in those palettes are now in the newer palettes.

The store I work in got the OPI Alice in Wonderland collection on Tuesday, so it’s hitting the stores now. It’s really pretty except for Off With Her Head Red, that one just doesn’t fit.

Reply

the Muse January 14, 2010 at 9:44 pm

hey comrade def catalog shades hun :-D Oh yes I remember those! I think the novelty and appeal is the design of the palette plus the shades really are very pretty! I don’t venture into the nail world but I like the name of that lOL

EEEEEEE! I just ordered it from UD and I literally CAN NOT wait until it gets here. Seriously, I don’t know if I’ll sleep until I have the book in my hot little hands. I have fallen in love with UD since purchasing BOS II, so for me this is a great way to try out more of the shadows at a good price – even if there are a few dupes from BOS II. Plus the Alice theme is a great marketing idea – how clever!

By the way, love your blog – thanks for the great reviews!

Reply

the Muse January 15, 2010 at 11:45 am

hehe shannon stop back tell me whatcha think! I’m all compulsive about collecting all the books! I agree Alice is the novelty behind it and probably what will say more volume than just the shades along :-D

Aw thanks Shannon you’re super! *hugs*
