DHC Mild Touch Cleansing Oil Review

I’m thinking we should celebrate. You know, balloons, chips, dips, loud music, the whole deal. Why are we celebrating? Because the Gods above have granted us the ability to purchase DHC Mild Touch Cleansing Oil. I swear I heard angels sing when I noticed that DHC was actually carrying a product that hit Japan several months ago.

If you’re a DHC lover and a little or alot knowledgeable about DHC US versus DHC Asia, you’ve probably long since realized we get the boring packaging. DHC such a great brand but the packaging is so damn generic. Japan gets alot of great packaging plus some really cool collections such as the DHC Fruit Collection and the DHC Rose Collection.

This a break through people!

PINK DHC packaging….this is news. Call the papers, alert the President!

Ok but seriously. This really is kinda cool because I’m a package junkie and I really like good looking packaging. It’s pretty important to me in the scheme of my beauty purchases. DHC Mild Touch Cleansing Oil is the first of it’s kind to make it’s way to US shores. It’s really a break through for the brand because as I mentioned for the most part the packaging is pretty standard and dare I say boring in some aspects. Needless to say they make incredible products but why is the kawaii packaging reserved for Asia? No fairs!

Anyway.

Now that you heard my ramble about how sweet the packaging is have a little jump to hear about how well DHC Mild Touch Cleansing Oil performs.

Housed in a baby pink bottle which sports a chandelier design DHC Mild Cleansing Oil is pretty, affordable, and great for getting your face super clean. And guess what? No mineral oil in the mix!

Just a recap to define cleansing oil.

Cleansing Oil is indeed oil however Mild Touch seems to be a tad on the thicker side and borders a thin consistency gel, oil none the less but a thicker formula. With a face full of makeup pump two or three times into the palm of your hand. Now get to work massaging it into your dry face (do not WET your face or hands prior to use, dry face, dry hands). Close your eyes and massage gently. Now…wet your hands every so slightly and start massaging again. As the water hits the oil it’ll begin to emulsify and go milky. Now rinse! Done! All your makeup should be completely removed even waterproof mascara! One step cleansing at it’s best.

Of course those who are already part of the cleansing oil club didn’t need those directions but we do have a few readers who aren’t familiar with how oils work.

DHC Mild Touch Cleansing Oil hydrates as well as rinses away makeup. It rinses clean. It does not leave your face oily, it does not leave a greasy film.

One minor rant….

Mild Touch has a weird scent, kinda like glue but it doesn’t much bother me, however, I wouldn’t have minded a floral or fruity scent.

At $14 it’s cheap, it works, and it’s worthy of your cash! Muse Approved for purchase.

You need it.

I really like Origins Clean Energy Gentle cleansing oil.
    It’s $18.50 for 6.7 ounces.
I get mine when they have their 25% friends and family sale.
Use it dry and add water to emulsify.
    The ingredients are also great.

The only odd thing is that the container is a screw top.
You can purchase a pump for the bottle for under $2 i think.

    • the Muse

      hey karrie!

Thanks for the rec. Always avoided it b/c the bottle drives me NUTS! I didn’t know they sold a pump, better get me somes 😀 does it smell nice?

  • Mandy

No mineral oil! I must try and get my hands on it! Hmm must to search around the Asian beauty stores and see if they have it 😛

  • sugarmizbunni

Wow!cool..So excited to DHC cleansing oil review coz I’m quite curious of how good it is… 🙂 Thanks for sharing

  • dina

i have been wondering about cleansing oils but not yet given a try? which would you recommend as the best affordable one, like under $20? i know the shu one is supposed to be fantasmic but i believe its a bit pricier?
    thank you 🙂

    • the Muse

you need some dina 😀 under 20 locally or asia? let me know can rec some nice ones from Asia 😀 plus under $20! shu ranges is the obscene range, it’s a damn fine oil but the price makes me wince 🙁

      • dina

i guess locally since high shipping and long ship times gets to be a turnoff 🙁 i know little to nothng when it comes to asian brands. so maybe available in u.s. (online or in-store) and under $20? i’ve only recently started looking around and saw mac, bb, shiseido, nars, your dhc rec, and some others but no idea about direction on this one. also, do you think shu’s performance so far surpasses the others that it worth the extra $?

        • the Muse

hey dina! Aw I understand I’m an instant gratification kinda girl too

BB is good (did a review here) but also expensive
          NARS haven’t tried
DHC both mild and the regular are very good for the money

and I gotta shu does perform very well for the $$ and if you get a big bottle ($63 or so) it will last you at least 9 months to a year in my experience.

Also Smashbox one can be found on places like beautyticket for below $20 bucks or so. Haven’t tried it myself but it’s cheap so it’s worthy of it. MAC is also good and cheap 😀

Sadly we don’t have a TON of options in the realms of cleansing oils in the US so it’s hard to pick a few locally 😛

  • suz

don’t do this to me girl!! you only make my wish list long. thank god you did a review on this, it’s something I am getting soon. bad bad influence!!!

    • the Muse

lol suz sorries 😀 quite good stuff and worthy of a haul. I’m on my 3rd bottle of it so glad it’s available in the US now. Hate the smell though!

  • Melissa

have i mentioned that my bathroom pink and white and therefore need this cute bottle on my counter? LOL Would you be willing to a mini comparison of some cleansing oils? So far I’ve tried Shu and Missha and like Missha better because my skin is soft after I rinse. Besides being thicker, would this be fairly similar to anything else?

    • the Muse

LOL melissa you’ve justified the cost perfectly 😀 I’ll try hun just have tons lined up but will def try! 🙂 Missha is nice but I hate the smell 🙁

This is in a class by itself for me due to it’s thicker formula so it doesn’t really compare to Shu or Missha

  • Ginger

I’ve tried so Shu’s cleansing oils, and find that it does’nt remove eye makeup that well.
Does DHC perform better than Shu?
I’m fr Asia and I’m looking for a good performance oil under $20, what would you recommend?

    • the Muse

hi ginger. Shu has always done a pretty good job for me with eyes but than again I normally go into the cleanse with most of my heavier eye makeup removed with an oil based eye remover 😀

DHC is thicker than Shu so may work better for eyes. Under $20 B & C AHA Cleansing Oil is decent, as is the Biore Cleansing Oil, Lotree makes a fab one if you are in Korea for under $20, Kanebo Naive Deep Cleansing Oil, Kose Sofymo Line, etc….but do keep in mind if the shu didn’t work for you I’m doubtful something cheaper will do a better job.

      Hope this helps!

  • Kyl

The thing that confuses me is that my DHC catalog says that this gel is for use in the shower. How is that possible if you aren’t supposed to have a wet hands or face when you use it? I tried a sample and it was great, I just don’t get the whole shower thing.

    • the Muse

me to kyl don’t understand the mentality behind that considering if you apply it on wet skin it instantly emulsifies. what’s the point ya know!?

  • Eva

Just changed Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil into this. I’ve been using it for over two weeks now and I surely like it better than DHC Deep Cleansing Oil. It is indeed milder, lighter and doesn’t cause any dryness after using it. I also like the pink packaging too :))
