Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Mineral Correcting Concealer Review and Swatches

Dudes, I somehow got fraked up at CVS and paid $11.99 for the new Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Mineral Correcting Concealer and it’s listed as $8.95 on their site. Not cool CVS, not cool at all.

Humff.

Totally in a bad mood about that but I’ll survive as it was worth the extra moolah because I likey ALOT!

Check it after the jump!

I could be bias and I’m probably only liking this because of the lego factor. I dig legos and this trio reminds me of ’em.

What it is?

It’s a snap together trio that corrects, conceals, and highlights. They are little plastic tubes that snap together to create one unit and unsnap as a trio of bits and bobs to correct all your woes. Sweet right? See? Lego factor!

The trios are made up of a yellow corrector (be gone dark circles), a light beige concealer, and a pink highlighter. I admit the highlighter proved fruitless for me as I’m not much for highlighting but hey it works great to dab on the highbrow for a little bit of a gleam.

The corrector and the concealer gave me the most joy. The formula is a little tiny bit drying so be sure to moisturize well prior to use. Dab on a little yellow first and blend out and proceed to follow up with the concealer. Done! Fresh eyes! The yellow does a great job of erasing dark circles in a flash and is plenty pigmented to get eyes in order. The concealer does a good job of toning down the yellow and creating fresh, awake eyes. I thought perhaps using both would be a tad too much for my eyes but actually it was fine and both blended out well, were pigmented to hide my problems, plus didn’t crease, fade, or cake up. Loves it! Each bottle has a sponge tip applicator for easy application plus once snapped together the trio is super travel friendly.

I do admit that the bottles are pretty tiny for the money but the formula is so pigmented you only need a little so you should get plenty of uses out of each.

Overall, I absolutely loved it. I admit it’s a tad wasteful as I’m not taking full advantage of the highlighter but the concealer and corrector are totally brightening up my world at the moment. Granted, this isn’t going to turn into my HG (holy grail) concealer of choice but it does a damn good job of creating gorgeousness under these tired eyes.

Loves it!

hey YOU! I like when you come a commenting on my blog miss Pursebuzz 😀 Did you get your b-day pressie!? Haven’t had a chance to say hey but I’ll try to chat ya up later today!

  • G_46

Yay! It sounds promising! I have to say that I really like PF’s concealer than other drugstore brands’ concealer. I hope it makes sense. I just got out from 8 o’clock microbio lab. I am tired & sleepy. Anyways, I’ll be waiting for the BOGO from CVS to snatch one of these =)

    Thanks for the review!

    • the Muse

hey g46 I’m always pretty pleased with the brand myself, particularly the concealers! 😀 totally made sense lol! Go get some rest hun! 😀 BOGO def a great time to haul it!

      My pleasure!

I’m pretty much no-makeup, but my eyes have had circles a lot the past few weeks. (I’m 36, really pale skin.) Would this work if you didn’t also use foundation? I’m hoping to find a standalone, but while this seems cool, the yellow and pink seem like they’d be too clownish on their own? Thanks!

    • the Muse

april with proper blending it should be ok sans foundation. you use the yellow to correct and the beige to conceal and the pink to highlight brow bone so not clowny no…

  • Christine

I’m surprised by the positive comments. I found that all three tended to cake up. They took care of the dark circles, but the caking up emphasized my lines. I ‘m in my 50’s, but, I have been told I don’t look my age.

  • Lynn Rolewicz

I’m considering buying the PF 3-in-1.
Will it be used before or after applying foundation? Thank you!!
    LadyLynn 🙂

  • Lynn Rolewicz

OK. Now I feel stupid. You told me that “primer” should be used before foundation. Which one is the “primer?!
I already bought it, so is it “correct’ or “concealer?” Derr…. 🙂

    • the Muse

sorry lynn…totalllllllllllllly replying to the wrong comment. I thought your commented on the new primer from the brand duh!. This is the concealer review *head desk* sorry. Use the yellow for dark circles, and top with the beige concealer shade. highlight with the pink. Hope this helps 🙂 I believe I explained how to use it in the review 🙂

  • Lynn Rolewicz

Feeling stupid again! I can’t find where you said if foundation goes under the correcter and concealer of the 3-in-1.
THANK YOU. We must stop meeting like this!! ;D

I’m really confused lynn..LOL sorry…I don’t really understand your question? You want to conceal your eyes? face? Normally I conceal my eyes and proceed to follow up by doing my face with foundation. If you’re using this on your face you’ll want to conceal the area and apply your foundation after. Does that make sense?

    • Larissa

i understand what you were going for, the physician formula team says to use the 3-in-1 before foundation.

  • Lynn Rolewicz

    Sorry that we’re both confused!
I want to cover and conceal only under my eyes. I use foundation on my whole face. Do I put foundation under my eyes, or do I ONLY use the 3-in-1 under my eyes?
I hope that’s clear! Thanks so much! 🙂
    Lynn

    • the Muse

hi lynn. I personally don’t use foundation under my eyes. It would be way too much for me to do concealer plus foundation. It’s really entirely up to you though do you normally wear concealer and foundation under your eyes? If so continue to do so with this 🙂

  • Larissa

i actually have the green not the yellow one, and i love mine! but sometimes it is very easy to go over board considering they go very far! a small dot covers more then you know! but otherwise a good product! i want to buy the single tube of yellow, so thats next on my list 😀 (and ive never had a problem with these being dried or cracky, but i have very oily skin no matter how much i wash it; that would be the difference there)

  • tazia

hey! I have decided to buy one… but does it work on medium or fair-medium skin tones?? does it look ashy?

  • Ayman

I hate this concealer. Doesn’t work on medium skin tones. After application it dries and settles into fine lines and also the color is too light and looks too yellow and pronounced on skin.
