The Muse’s Year End Review 2009: The Muse’s Fav Blushes

Cosmetics on White Background

If you’ve been with the Muse for a while (aren’t you special?) you know that I normally do my Year End Review in a single post. This year I thought I’d so several posts for each individual category in the realms of beauty.

Some of my favs were released in 2009 while others are old favorites that continue to impress me and make my list year after year so expect to see new and old favs pop up on each list.

And let the Muse’s Year End Review commence with the Muse’s Fav Blushes from 2009.

Although any normal girl might argue that there can’t be much to say about blush. Perhaps the average, everyday girl has two blushes, maybe three. One warm, one cool, maybe a vibrant shade she rarely uses but thinks is pretty so she keeps anyway.

But we makeup junkies know that there is entire world of blushes out there with different formulas and textures, from different brands, in a wide variety of shades and color that the normal girl probably wouldn’t consider trying.

The following blushes win a prestigious spot on the the Muse’s Fav Blushes from 2009 list that she found herself reaching for again and again and again this year….!

FaceFront Cosmetics has had me in it’s blush clutches since I discovered the line this past Summer. Releasing LE shades of loose mineral blush every few months or so they have turned into a source of endless joy for the Muse as she simply adores the popping shades of color such as I’m Faunally Yours and Frawn Apawn.

Fav Blush 2009 2

Although they aren’t new by any means, Aromaleigh Rocks! Sonic Rouge has been a fond favorite for the past year or two now. The shades are all terribly bright and outrageous but I love the youthful glow they give to my cheeks!

Fav Blush 2009 14

Benefit Coralista had a hold of my heart at first glance. To this day the Muse names it the best box powder from Benefit.

Fav Blush 2009 9

Benefit Posietint keeps a healthy flush on my cheeks and has been a favorite since it’s release last Spring, it too, earns a spot on the coveted Muse Fav Blush list!

Fav Blush 2009 8

NARS Orgasm makes the Muse scream in excitement but she likes to double her pleasure with NARS Super Orgasm which turned out to be one of her very favorite, can’t live without it blushes of all time.

Fav Blush 2009 10

Ahhh again with those loud, outrageous shades of blush but I can’t help myself especially when shades from Medusa Makeup are gracing my collection. These top my fav list for sure!

Fav Blush 2009 17

MAC always has a special place in my heart so of course MAC Just A Pinch Gel Blush was something I clamored to get more of. It’s just one of those blushes you simply must have a back up of.

Fav Blush 2009 11

Not new by any means but remaining a fond favorite each year is Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks. It just works, ’nuff said

Fav Blush 2009 7

MAC Blush in Eversun some how wormed it’s way into the favorite group and makes me realize I’ll sob when I’ve used up the one I have. Must. find. backup.

Fav Blush 2009 12

MAC broke onto the scene with Mineralize Blushes earlier this year and proceeded to wow us with Mineralize Grand Duos. Those MAC folk sure know how to make blushes that top the fav list of many a junkie.

Fav Blush 2009 16

The Body Shop Spring Collection 2009 brought us a rose themed beauty collection and to this day the Body Shop Roseflower Blush, scented with roses, remains a fond favorite, simply a gorgeous and timeless blush. Well done Body Shop! Let’s see some more like this.

Fav Blush 2009 5

Matte you say? I’d personally never name a matte blush a fav but Lorac Baked Matte Blush in Exposed made me a believer that matte can sometimes be very, very, very good.

Fav Blush 2009 6

Jelly Pong Pong Cheek Puff Fluffy Cheek Stain started out life as simply being a cutely packaged blush for the Muse but after trying it she surely can’t live without it now!

Fav Blush 2009 3

Pop Blush Cakes were able to enter my fav world by way of a good sale and boy am I glad I indulged because they top my favorite list in a major way!

Fav Blush 2009 15

Laura Geller Blush-n-Brighten Tropic Hues is possibly the most gorgeous blush in my collection. It’s a must have in my humblest and absolutely essential to your collection.

Fav Blush 2009 4

Easily over done comes to mind when I tried out Dianne Brill Pearl Blush for the first time but the shade Rose Gold Pearl has become one of very favs this year and I imagine it’ll stick around for a while on this list.

Fav Blush 2009 18

I hope you enjoyed this look into some of my favorites blushes from 2009. Stay tuned tomorrow for more of my favorite products from this year. There are links embedded within the post which allow you to be magically whisked away to my review of each blush featured which will also include swatches and FOTD’s (face of the day photos).

Go ahead and comment on your fav blushes from 2009 and which made an impact on your stash.

You know…the ones that you reach for daily and sigh over while staring in the mirror after application and thinking how it’s made you glow.

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. I still think Facefront is evil.

That said, I love the Aromaleigh blushes! <3

    Thanks for sharing your favorites!

    • the Muse

dd they are evil lol. I recently ordered from their clearance/basement store thingy and they took a month to ship, pissed me off badly grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I love their blushes but that was not cool for me 😀

My pleasure hun 🙂 Hope you had a lovely new year!

  • MC

Coralista and Posie Tint have been my loves for 2009. Best blushes I have used all year…I use them together!!!

  • Melissa

Thank you for the reviews in a nutshell. This is my favorite time of year to peruse blogs and read recaps and such. I discovered cream blushes this year and my faves are Mac cremeblush in and the stila stain pens in cherry and mango. I have been adoring Laura Geller blushes for a few years now. I have a few in my collection mostly from kits and are definitely hg type blushes for my ever changing color. The tropics kit is on its way to me with an EDD of next week. I should of paid for the faster shipping – now I REALLY want it. 🙂 Benefit Dallas is another go to. The newest fave is Chanel powder blush in tweed sienna – Its a pinky brown combo with bronzey stuff . Its like a mute version of dallas with the tiniest speck of shimmer.

    • the Muse

yes paloma I’m working on it. three have already closed off and emails have been sent just give a moment as I run the website myself without help and it’s alot of work to get through, hope you understand! Cheers, Happy New Year!

          • Paloma

I’m serious! Where do I sign up? =)

            Do I get goodies? lol

          • the Muse

I’m not paloma lol this place works like a well oiled machine NOT 😀 which means that I’d have to train someone to understand the insanity that takes place to run this blog and that sounds like alot of work 😀 Plus I like getting things done around here myself and putting personality into the blog etc…..if I had someone answering emails for me, organizing things that I didn’t know personally or was close at hand as in the same state, I think it would drive me bonkers not knowing what was going on with my blog.

            But thanks anyway 🙂

As great as an intern sounds it also sounds like an utter nightmare!

          • Paloma

well, if you want, I can help you for as little or as much as possible…I think it would be fun.

          • the Muse

hi paloma I really appreciate it but I don’t really have much you can do outside of getting my email organized 🙂 and that’s a job I really have to take on myself hehe but thanks!

  • melissa

i still dont know how to buy this shiseido cover where is it?? i got to find it asap

    • the Muse

hi melissa not sure how much more detailed I can be? I have a link to the store you can buy it at in the review. Visit the shop, search for the product, click to buy, put in your cc number, and you’re done 🙂

  • Jane

hi muse! i stumbled onto your blog awhile ago and i love your reviews. i’d have to say my most used blush all year is the tarte cheek stain in dollface (and still going strong). it’s the perfect light pink that stays and stays! not sure why it doesn’t get too much love among the makeup gurus. i just got engaged and i’m getting married sometime in the next 12 months – and i really think this blush will take me to the big day! i just started a blog about my wedding planning adventures and i’ll be sure to add a makeup series.

    • the Muse

      hello jane!!!!!

So nice to meet you! I really like dollface myself 😀 such a pretty shade. I think maybe we all love it for Summer looks 😀 that’s so fab congrats hun! I think you’ll look lovely with it on! I look forward to reading your adventures!

  • Terri

Hi Muse, great selection! I’m a huge, huge Coralista lover too. That stuff is amazing! The only ones I’d have to add to your list is Dior Bronze de blush to harmonie (or whatever order that’s supposed to go in!) in both colours, and I do love my Bobbi Brown Rose shimmer brick. I found myself using those a lot this year.

But who knows – my Sephora post-holiday haul is on its way, so maybe I’ll find some new faves 🙂

    • the Muse

damn terri you’re right! I Loved both Bronze de Blushes and have both!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sheesh they so BELONG on this list!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 Thanks for reminding me lol I should haul out and use those sheesh!

😀 yay glad you liked the post! Hugs!

  • bonnie

I am totally a blush girl and wow, you definitely know your stuff. You have awesomely great taste for beautiful cheek color! Thanks for such a wonderful site.

  • Gemma

Hi Muse I definitely agree with you on the posie tint and coralista. Coralista is how i discovered your blog as i was searching it and up popped your review on it. Yesterday i was in the body shop and saw the blushes you mentioned on sale for 5 each. However there were two colours i think 01 and 02. Which do you recommend? Or i might get both if they are still there.

    • the Muse

hey gemma awesome 😀 I love that Coralista pops up when someone searches hehe…as it’s my fav product! mmmm the rose one in this post? I didn’t like 01, WAY too pale, but loved 02 which is featured here. I’d go with the 02 if I were you hun!

  • PinkyKathy

thanks for sharing. I love Nars orgasm color, but, I don’t know what the reason is, this blush doesn’t show up on my cheek at all even I change my brush. So sadddd :((

    • the Muse

pinky regular orgasm? try using a kabuki 🙂 for some reason a regular blush brush just doesn’t cut it with orgasm!

      • PinkyKathy

Hi, thanks a lot for telling me that. I tried NARS Orgasm again with Posh Kabuki blush. It works really well!!!!!! I’m so happy. ^_^ oh, and it stayed all day long since I use Benefit, “that gal” primer.

        • the Muse

that’s AWESOME kathy! I def feel like orgasm is best applied with a kabuki 😀 awesome, awesome, awesome 😀 Really happy for you! it’s such a fab shade but needs a little work to get it on right!

  • Chelley

So many blushes! Which would be the #1 blush that you can’t live without? 🙂

    • the Muse

oh chelley that’s HARD! don’t make me choose it’s evil to make me choose 😀

      • Chelley

lol… but you must! If your house was burning down and those were the last blushes in the world, which blush would you run out with? XD

        • the Muse

OMG Chelley you suck! That’s not playing fair! LOL! I’d run out with coralista in one hand and nars super o in the other 😀

          • Chelley

lol… nice. I like the regular Orgasm, less shimmer. Oh, could you review Nars Laguna please? And could you reply to my email that I sent a few days ago on the contact form? 😀 Thanks Muse!

          • the Muse

hey chel! O is def gorg 😀 but I love me some shimmer! Oh gosh I’m sorry. My email is crazy full! I’ll def look for it, so sorry about the delay 🙁 E-mail and me are NOT best friends lol! I have about 4000 mails in there 😀 laguna the bronzer? I prob won’t review that one hun as I’m not too big a bronzer girl and that’s really matte hehe so I def prob won’t purchase it to review. I’m sorry 🙁

          • Chelley

It’s okay. Take your time. 🙂

I didn’t think it was that matte… it has some shimmer in it, which was why I was hesitant to buy it… I’m a matte girl. lol…

          • the Muse

thanks chell I’ve been NUTS lately 😀 hun I so can’t do mattes too well 😀 I’m a shimmeraholic

  • aRa
