Too Faced Spring Collection 2010: Too Faced Fun in the Dark Palette Review and Swatches

Fancy a little Fun in the Dark? The new Too Faced Fun in the Dark Palette has winged into way on to shelves and brings back days of old with that Too Faced Quickie Chronicle feel. Remember those? By the way a reader had won one of these from Too Faced recently….can’t remember who…but shout the word…curious how you’re feeling about the palette after trying it!

I actually really miss the Too Faced Quickie Chronicle palettes so this is right up my alley. I collect various pin up girl magazines, bits, and bobs so the packaging on those old palettes thrilled me. I was delighted that the new Too Faced Fun in the Dark Palette had that pulp fiction feel with a retro glam pin up girl on the cover. The fun doesn’t end there though! Flip it open and it has a full size lit mirror, so cute! The mirror is surrounded by little lit bulbs so truly you can have a little fun in the dark with your makeup.

The palette includes a variety of everything so you can get your full makeup look on without a ton of fuss.

You get four shadows in Pin Up (Creamy Beige), Peep Show (Peach), Full Frontal (Chocolate), and Lucky Charms (Forest Green). The shades are the typical pigmented Too Faced formula particularly Lucky Charms and Full Frontal. I did feel the shades were slightly mismatched but actually you can create a variety of looks using the palettes so I’m enjoying it to the fullest.

You’ll also get Papa Don’t Preach blush which is a lovely peachy shade and Sun Bunny a dual sided bronzer. To complete the look Tropical Pink gloss (transparent with pink glitter) and Free Love lip cream (beige nude pinky peach).

I loved everything in the kit aside from the gloss and lip cream which weren’t as creamy as I had hoped plus I can’t pull off Free Love at all, bit too nude for me. The shadows create a mysterious look or a fresher look by using Peep Show. Any look created leans towards a warmer finish, ideal for the cold days of Winter ahead when you’re busy wishing for Spring.

Overall, it’s inexpensive price tag, $32.50, cute design, and variety offer a nice little option for makeup palette lovers. I could be bias because I love palettes but this one was too sweet to pass up particularly because of the back lit mirror.

My pic below was created using Full Frontal and Pin Up on my eyes and Papa Don’t Preach on my cheeks. Excuse my brows and eyes. My eyes are all irritated and dry because I’ve been trying out these lenses for an upcoming cosplay event and my brows have a wicked weird Brooke Shield thing going on. I swear my threader does some weird 80’s thing with my brows, I dunno if I love it or hate it.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. It was me who won the palette, but I haven’t heard back or received anything since 🙁 They tweeted me to email a lady, and I did, but no response… Giving up hope now, but at least I didn’t pay for it. xD

A shame, too; Lucky Charms is so gorgeous! Do you know if they have that as a single shade?

  • Phyrra

I won the palette on Twitter and received it a few days ago. I wore Papa Don’t Peach today, and it’s nice. The shadows seem nice, too.

  • MC

I like the pallet, but some of the shades of shadows remind me of some of the shades in UD’s Shadow Pony…

  • Ivy

I won it! Too faced gave it away on Twitter and after this review I might want to keep it instead of swapping it!

  • natty

Hey muse! I’m confused about free love lipstick – i bought it after your review (when you compared it with naked – UD) and i love it 🙂
Now you say it’s not working for you – is it a different shade than the regular lipstick? Anyway i don’t like lipstick or glosses that come in a pan but i guess it’s convenient to have everything in one place.

    • the Muse

natty this is NOTHING like free love lipstick. free love lipstick is more nude pink and this was a sheer nude pinky beige with a hint of peach. I’m unsure if it’s technically the same sahde but to me it’s def NOT. very diff imho. this was more nude and totally different texture of course compared to the full lipstick 😀

      hope this helps?

      🙂

If you want side by side swatches can try to get posted for ya!

  • kenzie.

Hee! Too Faced can’t spell “chronicles”……aside from that it looks like a rather lovely palette…..
    😀

    • the Muse

he kenzie 🙂 i imagine I’ve spelled it awful a time or two as well :-D! I’m a sucky speller!

  • natty

thanks muse – it does help as i believe TF put the same name but different product on this palette
i don’t want to trouble you with swatches as the palette is not available here and i was just curious 🙂
    thanks again for your reply

    • the Muse

my pleasure natty. These just don’t match up the same color wise at all 😀 my pleasure sweet!

  • Kay

Like the look of this, very cute, but don’t think it’s appeared over here yet! I actually only own a Too Faced lipstick right now which I really like, but are the eyeshadows worth getting? I feel like I should branch into this brand but could do with some advice from someone who’s already got a foot or two in the water! Which of their products would you recommend?

    • the Muse

hey kay! 😀 Hope you get it over your side soon! Yes they are. They are a nice formula if you like pigmented shadows 😀 Get yourself some Mirror, Mirror gloss pronto! It’s AWESOME! Best gloss I own 🙂 Very shiny!! Also highly recommend the natural eye palette, it’s amazing!!!!!!!!!!! Those are my two big time favs 😀

  • Promise

I just ordered this from Sephora for 16.50 because I just bought La Vie en Rose blush, and I want Papa Don’t Peach. Would you say the color for Papa Don’t Peach real blush and the PDP blush from this palette are exactly the same? Also, is the amount fairly the same for both in the palette and the single blush? Thanks 🙂

    • the Muse

papa don’t preach in pan and palette are the same shade promise but not the size, that’s different 🙂
