Weekly Beauty Rants: Lipgloss+Sneeze=Epic Fail

Welcome to the Muse’s new category where you can rant your beauty mishaps. I’m a professional rant’er so this is a great way for me to nitpick, rave, rant, yell, whine, piss, and moan all about my cosmetic woes, beauty problems, and general pieces of life.

Whatcha think? Likey?

My rant of the day is sneezing!

Jump!

Today I’d like to address the topic of lip gloss and sneezing. This morning I had an epic sneeze…actually…I ALWAYS have to sneeze, every morning, around the same damn time. You know when that time is? That time is just after I applied my lipstick and nice gob of lipgloss. This is normally the time my nose starts itching so I press the area just below my right nostril, (this trick stops a sneeze in it’s track did you know that? Try it sometime!) right above my lip. And I’m saved….!

But….

Sometimes the sneeze escapes before I have the second to perform my little trick and that’s when disaster strikes! Oh let me rant about what a pain in the backside it is to sneeze when you have on layers of lip product. First off gloss and lipstick go everywhere during a big sneeze. Normally this is on my chin, perhaps my upper lip, but a mess will occur, rest assured of that. Now let me rant about how difficult it is to blow your nose when you have on a gob of gorgeous gloss on, it’s NOT easy and most times you might as well just wipe off your product and start over after you finish blowing your nose.

Grrr!

So that’s my daily beauty rant!

Sneezing and lipgloss just don’t go hand and hand.

How about you?

Any tips on how to sneeze delicately and not mess up your gloss?

Any other beauty ranting you want to get off your chest today?

A sneeze that sneaks up on you while applying mascara is equally bad. That happened to me just the other day.

  • Tammy

I’m the same way!! I sneeze every morning at the same time….after I put on my mascara!!! Grr!!! It is so frustrating…black specks all under my eyes. NOT attractive!!

    • the Muse

LOL Tammy! Same! not mascara but as soon as gloss goes on sneeze time haha!

  • Angie Twe

Sneezing gracefully…. that’s a bit hard considering that we don’t know when we would sneeze. >.<
Hehe, my tip, wait for that time to pass before applying on the lipstick and lipgloss.

Who knows it might work out well! 😀
    Have a great day ahead!

    • the Muse

      ha angie…it was a thought 😀 hehehehehe!

I’ll try LOL but it seems that the sneeze wants out after I apply :-D! haha!

Have a fantastic day angie 🙂

  • Angie Twe

    Gosh you’re making me laugh!
    :DD

Your nose just refused to let you put on lip stuffs easily then. hahaha!

  • Robyn

yuk i know been there i did not know this trick so gna need to try it

but sneeze when your holding pigment is ALOT worse (green glittery face not good !)

    • the Muse

robyn try it. it works!!!!!! just press hard and it’ll eliminate the need to sneeze 🙂 HA! Haven’t had that happen but scary! hehe!

  • SoVeryFabulous

I personally hate when I have on some nice lipgloss and it’s windy out. You know my hair is sure to get stuck on my lips. Not only does it have the potential to ruin the look of my gloss, but it gets my hair all sticky too!

    • the Muse

omg soveryfab I know what you mean! One more reason why I keep my hair in a bun 😀 hehe!

  • Hella

I have two types of mornings – I either yawn for hours after I get up, or sneeze (my personal record’s 26 times in a row…). It’s really a disaster if you’ve got all your make-up on. But I also got a trick – I press my nose ,with thumb and index, just between my eyes. It works a great deal of times. :)))

    • the Muse

hella 26????????????? holy cows! I normally press under my right nostril above my lip and it stops it right away!

      • Hella

Yeah, I know, it’s like a Star Wars battle scene… I’ll try your trick next time. Hope it will work 🙂

        • the Muse

LOL hella!!!!!!! that’s what I’m talkin’ about! 😀 It will it will! tell me how it works out for u haha!

  • Marina

I always do that to stop my sneezes! Haha…well, only if I’m in public.
    Hair+Lipgloss, mascara+eyes…could go on and on 😉

    • the Muse

LOL marina same same same same!!!!!!! mascara sucks when just applied and sneeze…ugh!

  • autumn

i absolutely hate when i get up, go get my makeup on and get all pretty, then when i look good, i get up and realize that im blind and i forgot to put my contacts in.
do you know how hard it is to put contacts in with makeup on without messing it up? so i either end up having to wipe it all off and start over, or wear my glasses, which im not too fond of. :p
never really had a sneezing mishap, though.

    • sparklyblind

omg I hate that!!! or for some reason your eye just wont stop literally crying because somethings stuck under your contact! thats the worst because it ruins your whole face!!! heres what I do if i must put my lenses in after makeup, sometimes I even have to take them out and switch them and try to not destroy my look, you’ll need Q-tips (I carry around some in a container so they stay clean) or you can use toilet paper but NEVER TISSUES because they are too linty and will just make the problem worse. If using toilet paper kinda roll it up anf form it into a point so its kinda like a Q-tip. the point is to basically stop tears in their tracks and never even let them get a mm past and out of your tear duct. So get ready one eye at a time and gently hold the absorbant item right there at your tear duct area where the tears are about to start flowing and itll absorb them before they can get anywhere! Then you can also use a clean side of the Q-tip to gently just hold but NEVER RUB on your inner rim or other places around your eye that feel like maybe a tear kinda escaped so you save your eyeliner job WITHOUT smearing!! Just remember to not touch retouch a part of the Q-tip that you already used to your eye or face incase it got some liner or shadow on it or youlllend up transferring it to where you touch it again causing a smudge which is what youre trying to avoid. I hate having to wear them ! Im scared of the Lasik or PRK I think thats what its called. its just Lasik but no flap cut. but yeah as a wearer of contacts for over half my lifetime I have learned and seen alot of the good and bad and absolutely terrible also:)

  • Bakeneko

Being allergic to pretty much life in general, I am always sneezing and sniffling and my eyes are watery quite a lot too. This is not good for eye make up! I end up with mascara everywhere haha

    • the Muse

aww sorry hun my sis is allergic to everything! LOL bakeneko been known to happen here once or twice mid-mascara but after it was on!

  • Majick

Graceful sneezing… I did see a woman sneeze once and literally no sound came out. I was amazed but informed her promptly that if she kept doing that her head was going to explode. LOL

maybe you could try to trick yourself – smear on some clear lip stuff, wait for the inevitable and then do the lip thing. Hey, ya nevah know.

    • the Muse

ha majick crazy don’t think I can keep my sneeze in ;D! ha good idea

  • Brooke
