L’Occitane Rose 4 Reines Hydrating Face Mist Review

Ahhh L’Occitane, glorious, French L’Occitane. Isn’t there something terribly special about the brand? Don’t you simply love it?

I know this Muse does!

By now it probably goes without saying how obsessed I am with roses and the scent of roses, etc….so obviously that’s why LOccitane Rose 4 Reines Hydrating Face Mist was so very appealing.

This is a rich rose floral water mist used to provide moisture and hydration to the skin. It pretty much works the same way as any facial mist in your beauty arsenal. Hydrating, set makeup, refresher through the day, you know the normal stuff.

Of course, it’s slightly special as it’s rose scented plus it comes in a very cute bottle which is somewhat Victorian looking. The pretty packaging of course holds a special place in my heart.

Now the bad…

Unfortunately, I assumed it would smell wonderful so when I purchased it I didn’t bother sniffing it. I believe at the time I was just being rushed and popped it into my cart as something interesting to try. I proceeded to get it home, mist myself, and gag. It’s not good at all. If you’re familiar with Kose Happy Bath Day this is basically the same scent. Instead of a sweet rose this is full on mature, floral rose much like a cheaper perfume spray would smell. I like a sweet rose scent, a true rose scent but not a rose scent that smells grandmotherly and sadly this is very much a victim of that.

Overall, it has the potential to be lovely but the scent completely kills the product for me.

Le sigh, with a heavy heart I must say no likey at all.

Anyone try this?

Love?

Leave?

Tell it!

i am so happy i read this review you made. i myself adore adore adore roses even when they have a little bit of that grandmother aura, even those i can like. now, i do hate the kose scent. i ordered the whole line, i am not kidding, bought the whole thing online and i just cannot wear any of the products. i totally detest the smell. i was about to commit the same crime and order the whole rose 4 reines line and luckily for me, i got to your lovely blog (which i have read many times, mainly for my japanese make up passion which we both share)
i also bought, a couple of years ago, the cassis rose from the body shop and it belongs to the same category with the kose line, in my modest opinion, it smells a little bit like cheap deodorant after a long day, ufff!
have you ever tried the alteya organics rose water? i ask you because i haven’t but was determined to buy it.
    xoxo

      hi wefade.

I ADORE roses too but hate the grandmotherly scent that some brands think smells rosy yak! Happy Bath Day is just awful. It really does small rancid. Thank god you didn’t because rose 4 reines just has that really bad vintage rose scent AKA OLD LADY LOL!

haven’t tried alteya no. Must go look them up 😀 C.O. Bigelow used to make an incredible rose line (skincare) damn shame it’s gone!

Hey guys I love pure rose smell as well, if you’re looking for a mist that is organic and smells like grandmother rose without any chemical then go for durance rose centifolia floral water mist.it’ s smells so gorgeous i’ m addicted . I also use their lavender purifying mist which also smells great and it feels so relaxing! Durance is a French brand similar to l’occitane they specialize in organic skincare fragrance with a touch of French Provence

    Hi there,

I disagree, the rose 4 reines is gorgeous, sultry, sexy rose fragrance, not at all granny like but then like all scents will smell different on different people.

Wefade I suggest you try it yourself, v hard to tell a scent from a review, it’s such a personal thing.
