Long Wearing Concealer: Maybelline Super Stay Concealer Review

When you’re a beauty junkie you’re almost always guaranteed to run across one or many products that promise you the world. Flawless skin, perfect skin, enhanced, HD ready skin, smooth finishes, moisturizing formulas, and one of my personal favs, long wearing formulas.

I can always refresh my lipstick and lipgloss. It doesn’t bother me in the least to re-apply. Granted I’d love something that didn’t only wear long but also wore all day but it’s not irritating doing a re-ap of my lip products.

My eyeshadow is virtually bullet proof thanks to Urban Decay Primer Potion so really I don’t need to bother myself with it at all.

Mmm blush normally sticks around well enough however like lipstick or gloss I’d love for it to stay all day but again I’m not bothered in the least.

My pet peeves?

Concealer and foundation. If I can find myself a concealer and a foundation that wears ALL day without moving, migrating, fading, or oxidizing I’d be a happy Muse indeed.

Jump ahead to hear my latest find for stupid long wearing concealer.

Maybelline is so not bluffing about it’s new long wear conceal. It wears, it wears long peeps

Maybelline Super Stay 24HR Concealer promises to stick around for a while and hang out with you throughout the day without creasing, fading, or disappearing.

And it’s true.

This stuff is here to stay.

Formula isn’t so fab. It’s drying as all heck on my already dry eyes but damn if it’s not true about the long wear. It comes housed in a plastic tube with a sponge tip applicator. It’s crazy pigmented and blends ok, not fab, but ok. You can just tell by the texture of the product that it’s going to stick around a little. As you blend it kinda feels a little rubbery, like a second skin. It’s a tad difficult to pat on so I was left rubbing around a little bit but once in place it’s staying in place and not moving.

Prepping and priming is key because you will end up with a cakey mess if you haven’t primed those eyes well before use. The formula dries super fast so you barely have a brief second to blend out before it dries down and begins to present a super problem to get it in place.

Overall, if you’re deseperate for your concealer to wear long I’d pick it up. I wouldn’t suggest paying retail, wait for a sale. It’s good but it needs work to be amazing. One thing it definitely is, is long wearing, no lies ’bout that, it’ll wear all day however it’s short comings could prove it’s fail in the long run.

Not bad at all for the days I’m willing to work a bit to get my concealer on correctly, not great for those inclined to rush their makeup in the morning. A little TLC is needed for proper application.

Likey not loves.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. Hey!
I’m on a bit of a budget and I was wondering if you could tell me what your favorite drugstore concealer is!
    🙂
    Thanks!

i LOVE this concealer. i move quickly in the morning so it doesn’t bother me that it sets so fast. it really does wear all day (which is good cuz i have hereditary dark circles) and removes easily with soap and water or cleanser. i also like that i barely need to touch it with powder because it wears so well.

TY for the review – I’m more of a rushed makeup person so I think I’ll pick up the Maybelline Dream Mousse concealer instead.

Hello, I need an extremely light concealer but with a warm undertone (kind of the palest peachy) to it.
I’m an extremely pale natural redhead (think of an orangeish tan leather and that’s my hair) but, unlike most redheads, my skin has a warm undertone to it and no freckles.
I’m now using the Maybelline Dream Lumi mixing a little bit of “ivory” with “nude” but I would like something that offers a little more coverage for my purple undereye circles.
I’m looking for a concealer that matches my skin (it shouldn’t be lighter, I don’t like that, and I’m ok with mixing two colours to get it: which shade(s) of Superstay would you recommend?

    Thanks!
