The state-of-the-art way to prepare skin for a flawless makeup application. Prep for Colour helps every skin type become a modern masterpiece.”

Launching April 1st 2010 the collection features the following products:

MAC Lipglass

  • Just Add Colour (fuchsia pink)

MAC Eyeshadow

  • Hey Warm: mid-tone beige (Veluxe Pearl)
  • Prepped for Glamour: ashy/dirty brown (Frost)
  • Sorcery Reddish: mid-tone brown (Satin)

Boring right?

Now the good stuff.

  • MAC Prep + Prime Skin Brightening Serum ($40)

A serum formulated to instantly brighten, smooth, firm, and hydrate the skin while providing a plumper, more evenly toned finish to the complexion. Natural antioxidants help to strengthen the skin against UV-related damage, while MAC Charged Water ensures deep, long-lasting hydration.

  • MAC Prep + Prime Face Protect SPF 50 ($30)

Absolutely adore a prep and prime that has an SPF of 50! That’s fabulous! The Muse is all about good sun protection plus that brightening serum is looking all kinds good. Boring color collection overall but the skincare/base products more than make up for it.

Whatcha think?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Wonder how close that lipglass will be to Electric Fuschia or Magnetique. My MAC order should get here today with Electric Fuschia, Kumquat and Pink Burst.

The highlight seems to be the prep and prime which I like…otherwise I agree, the colors are yawn and one lip shade (even though it’s pretty), is very yawn worthy.

    • the Muse

*nods* yup mc and I was thinking the prep items are little costly $$$ but still want ’em particularly the SPF!

OK, this is a personal peeve of mine but I really REALLY dislike that MAC keeps making rounded caps for their inverted tube packaged products like the primer above and Studio Sculpt foundation. Why? Because it won’t stand up! It drives my OCD self crazy. I like to neatly stand my bottles up on my make-up table not have them lying skewiff. As it is, it means that I’ve had to stand up my Studio Sculpt tube in a cup. Grrr. I’ll be skipping the Face Product primer purely for this reason alone.

nope you’re right bora I hate them too!!!!!!!!!!!! I also find they get nasty and dirty after a time b/c they are rubber plus a bit difficult to open! 🙁

I’m not really exited about this collection either, it’s all very blah. I tried a sample of the Prep + Prime SPF50 cream a few months ago and I wasn’t impressed. The cream felt very heavy and was too greasy for my combination skin, so I don’t have to look into that one anymore.

The brightning serum sounds interesting though ! 🙂

    • the Muse

oh no thanks miss m that crossed the spf off my list!!!!!! brightening serum def seems nice!

The only thing I am excited for is Hey eyeshadow. I know it may look like so many other colors, but is is really pretty and it applies so smooth, since it is a veluxe pearl. This color was in the Fafi Eyes 1 quad. I think I may buy 2.

    • the Muse

hey stacy thanks for the heads up will have to look in my fafi eye quad now for this shade 🙂

  • Nunu

Oh dear makeup gods, is that Hey Warm eyeshadow the same as Hey! from the Fafi release? Please please please please let it be!!! I’ve hit pan on mine and it’s the ONLY eyeshadow I’ve ever hit pan on. I snarl if anyone even comes close to approaching that colour and I sleep with it under my pillow. I’m also close to the point of dropping $50 on Evil Bay to get another Fafi palette just for that colour!
Please say it is so! I might buy 10 backups!
