Not So Sparkly: Trish McEvoy The All About The Eyes Collection

The new Trish McEvoy The All About The Eyes Collection has me every so slightly puzzled. After a brief trip to my local counter count me even more confused than when I started out.

The new collection features a few new shadows with the promise of sparkle and shimmer but are so very subdued and are even part of the general catalog?

Count me confuddled!

Jump!

The collection features three new shadow selections which are the Trish McEvoy Deluxe Diamond Eye Shadow available in Crystal and Platinum and the Trish McEvoy Deluxe Sparkle Eye Shadow available in Demure.

A brief inspection of my local counter and none of the items were in stock. On further discussion with the MA and a bit of exploring she showed me that Demure is actually already a general catalog item. Mystery number 1 solved! Demure is simply re-promoted with this collection and dare I say not so sparkly at all. As per the picture it looks like a lovely shade of shimmery shadow but it’s actually very subtle…not necessarily a bad thing but a tad misleading with words like “deluxe” and “sparkle” thrown out there.

Now they did not have Crystal however the MA quickly whipped out Platinum, which again was part of the general catalog, and proceeded to swatch me up. Again, “deluxe” and “diamond” are pretty hard words for something that has such subtle shimmer to it. I’m slightly confused because where as Demure doesn’t expressly say “new” on the website, Platinum and Crystal are advertised as Trish’s “new” Deluxe Diamond Eyeshadows.

Whoa.

Totally a mystery around this entire collection.

Needless to say I left feeling a little empty and disappointed. I look forward to heading back to the counter soon, in hopes they’ll have a display with the shadows, perhaps the MA and myself are completely wrong but at this point I’m doubting it.

Oh well, sure looked fabulous in the promo photos.

Discuss?

P.S. Dear Trish, I hate the idea of paying $20 for an eyeshadow and proceeding to have to pay $15 for a case to put it in. Ouch!

$35? Those better be some fantastic eyeshadows for that price – it’s more than a Chanel single eyeshadow. Although, if your name is Trish it would be pretty cool I suppose.

Those product pictures seriously confused me… I thought it was those roller sheets like they have for some blush and highlighters haha.

    • the Muse

hey dvc oh you mean like flirt cosmetics?

No they are pressed eyeshadow 🙂

      • DVC

Yes, I forgot what brand did it but you’re right, it was Flirt. I also remember MaryKate & Ashley having papers like that but same shape/size/type as blotting papers, although I’ve never tried them.

That’s the problem with Trish MCEvoy – all the products are meant to be used in the planners and it drives me crazy* because it’s expensive and keeps us going back to add another and another and another… sigh. Those eyeshadows can really add up!

Regarding the shimmer – I’m a huge fan of Trish’s shimmer shadows, but I fit into her target demographic. Most Trish customers are 30’s and up, so these shadows are meant for subtle, subtle shimmer payoff that won’t emphasize the crinklies.

*I buy Trish shadows in palettes only to avoid the whole planner thing.

amy no likey! How are you btw? 😀 I hate having to purchase freaking pots for the shadows, so not cool. RMK does this and it drives me MAD!!!!!! the planners are kinda nice but the entire idea totally throws me 😛 I’m in my 30’s too but I’m still wild and crazy with the shimmer 🙂 You’d think I’d have learned by now lol!

I LOVE the planners! Really, you guys don’t like them?

I haven’t tried these shadows yet. Perhaps they are “new” because they are a larger size, hence the “deluxe” – it’s the rectangle instead of square?

I did get the new Demure Eye Base- I highly recommend that!

rosie they are nice but costly as hell!!!!!!!! oh yes you could be right as these are rectangle and not square 😀 sweet! good lookin’ out as I was curious what was so NEW about them 😀 I liked the demure eye base as well 🙂
