The Body Shop Originals Collection: The Body Shop Banana Shampoo and Banana Conditioner Review

The Body Shop Originals Collection is tickling me lately. I’m so happy with this collection so far. I honestly didn’t give it a second though but after trying it, I’m quite pleased!

Have you hauled anything from The Body Shop Originals yet?

Jump!

Seriously, you really should check this collection out. The Body Shop took 11 of it’s most popular products from the 80’s and are re-promoting them. They are actually offering a voting option which allows you to vote for items you want to keep. I’ve no idea how many they will keep when the voting is done but I think they should seriously consider keeping these all on as they are each turning into something special particularly because the price range is so nice at $8.99 or 3 for $20 (can’t beat it right?).

The Body Shop Banana Shampoo and The Body Shop Banana Conditioner are making a guest starring appearance in my shower stall this week and Imma a love them!

Both the shampoo and conditioner are incredibly gentle on my hair and I see no build up after a week or so of use so far. Thankfully they haven’t weighted my hair done, this is a primary concern for me when selecting shampoos and such which is why I stick with Lush. These are very gentle so far. They leave my hair silky and smooth plus the best part is the beautiful sweet, fruity smell of bananas. So gorgeous! I do think the novelty is the banana scent for me! Yum!

If you’re looking for a gentle yet nourishing shampoo and conditioner with a delicious scent I’d definitely give these a go! Quite a nice shampoo and conditioner set and the price can’t be beat.

Muse Approved for purchase.

Likey very much!

My vote is in for keeping these around please Body Shop!

ah, you make me regretted not getting them when I was at the store that day! Wondering if you have oily/dry scalp by the way.

    • the Muse

dry addy! def dry! 😀 My hair needs as much moisture as it can get 😀 they smell so scrummy you must check them out 🙂

  • SoVeryFabulous

Oh wow, I used to use these way back in the day. I always loved the smell. 🙂

    • the Muse

omg sofabulous I so DO not remember these! How did I miss out on this goodness?!

  • Fabiola

Ooh, perhaps I should give these a go. I love the smell of all Body Shop products and the Banana conditioner looks really pulpy too, kind of like you’re putting freshly pureed bananas on your hair :-).

    • the Muse

oh try them fabiola they are lovely 😀 It really is nice and pupl-y hehe! quite thick and creamy! 😀 and smells so d-lish!

  • Miss_M

I’m glad you liked them, both the shampoo and conditioner were HG’s back in the day and I was pretty upset when they discontinued them. I have really thick, long hair and the pulpy consistency made my hair really soft and shiny, without weighing it down. The smell is to die for too !! 😀

Let’s hope that a lot of people are going to vote for these pretty little numbers, I certainly did ! 🙂

    • the Muse

miss m what a relief someone else that didn’t think they weighted their hair down! 😀 It feels so light and fluffy, my hair that is 😀 I normally can’t use many shampoos b/c they end up causing mega build up but this is nice! I can’t say I remember these! Everyone does but I don’t remember them at all 😀 I am too! I hope they keep all 11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really like everything so far. Did you try the cucumber toner? love!

      • Miss_M

Yep, my hair felt really light and fluffy for at least 2 days. Normally my scalpt is greasy within a day, but not with this shampoo !! 😀

I tried some of the other shampoos from TBS, but none of them left (and kept) my hair soft and fluffy. The coconut and honey shampoo both left my scalp and hair feeling greasy and limp 🙁

I did buy the cucumber toner together with the carrot moisturizer, but haven’t tried it yet (I want to get the passion fruit cleanser so I can use them together). The smell is great though, very clean and fresh ! 🙂

        • the Muse

me too miss m! I can’t use silicons for this reason, weights my hair down fiercely but this is very gentle 😀 I never tried any ‘poos or conditioner from TBS, this is my first! 😀 Go try it go try it I wanna talk about it with you haha! I likey the passion fruit so far…a little tightness after use but the smell is super duper!

          • Miss_M

I know what you mean, I can use silicons, but I have to watch what I use. I can’t use Pantene or John Frieda because their products are so packaed with silicons, it’s poison to my hair. It even makes my back greasy and spotty after washing, gross !

I used the cucumber toner this morning and I like it, but personally I think it’s more suitable for warmer weather, to freshen up your face. I’m thinking about putting it in an empty spritzer, like LUSH does with their toners 🙂

          • the Muse

OMG miss m pantene DESTROYS my hair! It’s absolutely poison! 😛 it makes me feel so dirty when I wash my hair with it.

Oh great idea 😀 I may do that with it! a spritz sounds lovelys!

  • Comrade_Garlic

I refuse to haul anything from this collection, it makes me feel old. I remember it was all the rage in my middle school to shave your legs with the banana conditioner. You had to use a pink Bic razor and everybody at your lunch table had to rub your legs. Just to feel how soft they were. You then got to feel smug because you were cool and used a conditioner on your legs just like whatever celeb did. It could have been Tiffany or Debbie Gibson. Crap now I’m signing Electric Youth.

    • the Muse

LOL comrade! I can’t remember ANY of this stuff for the life of me! I must be the only person who doesn’t remember these…maybe the cucumber stuff but nothing else 😀 LOL loving the tiffany/deb gibson references so fun! I have electric youth in my closet filed under G (Garbage) as a single cassette…talkin’ bout old right?

      • Comrade_Garlic

I lost that cassette single many moons ago. Now do you remember TBS nail polish?

        • the Muse

I’m a pack rat comrade hence while I still actually own singles lol! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol very out of the loop! girl how old are you!?

  • rachel

oo yes I’m praying they keep them all on!
I bought Passion Fruit Cleanser, i had this when I was a teenager and the smell is just lovely, i use it as a facewash in the shower.
I’m thinking of getting Fuzzy peach shower gel cos I had the perfume too.

    • the Muse

rachel me too! So far all of them are lovely 😀 I really like the passion fruit cleanser too!!!!!!!! 😀 omg fuzzy peach perfume! wants that 😀 bring that one back lol!

  • avis

hi Muse, love you blog! its so informative and fun =)
Too bad the 3 for $20 only happens in the USA, I live in Australia and we don’t get any kind of discount on the body shop products at all! and they are so much more expensive here, e.g. the carrot moisturizer is sold for $21.95 here compare to $8.99 in the US!….so unfair =(

    • the Muse

aw thanks avis *hugs* love ya!

omg! wow! that’s a price jack gasp! 🙁 They are very affordable here 🙁 I wish you guys had the same deals le sigh!

  • Robin

    Hi Muse,
I remember these the first time around, lol! Love the originals and wish TBS would keep ’em all! I got the 3/$20 deal and picked up Cucumber Cleansing Milk, Passion Fruit Cleansing Gel and Carrot Moisture Cream.

    • the Muse

man robin I so do not remember this stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice hauling! How do you like the moisture cream so far?! It’s kinda my flavorite product of the moment! 3 for 20 is such a super deal 🙂

  • jessica

My sister and I smelled this the other day and it smells like the banana medicine you took as a child! Nostalgic.
