Would You Buy It? Les Trompe L’Oeil de Chanel Temporary Skin Art

Chanel has a little Kat Von D action going on with the new Les Trompe LOeil de Chanel Temporary Skin Art which will be available for purchase online today.

Question is, would you buy it?

I suppose if you’re not ready to commit to real ink, a package of elegant Chanel Temporary Skin Art is the way to go right? For a limited time you can grace your skin with 55 different designs featuring various Chanel symbols and codes that were hand-drawn by Global Creative Director of Makeup, Peter Philips, for the Spring-Summer 2010 Fashion Show in Paris.

“For the show, I wanted to play with the CHANEL symbols; pearls, chains and wheat, as well as blossoms and small swallows that announce the arrival of spring,” says Peter Philips. “I focused on a natural makeup look with chic beige tones and a slight touch of rebellion: the tattoos!”

The package includes five sheets of temporary tattoos for a total of 55 designs that will set you back $75.

I’m unsure how long the design will last or how hard it will be to apply but I admit it absolutely intrigues me and I’m toying with the idea of placing some in my cart at the moment.

Available now at www.chanel.com

What do you think?

Would you buy LOeil de Chanel Temporary Skin Art?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. nope I would not, I am from Iraq. So I can have my own art *sister is artist, she can do the designs* done by using henna.

    • the Muse

oh suz coolness! I didn’t know you were from iraq I was under the impression you were Korean for some reason! Henna is such a beautiful art form!!!!!!!!!!!! and so long lasting!

      • suz

LOL I am a weirdo and maybe the ONLY known Iraqi……who is a freak when it comes to all things Asian…especially facial products, and j-drama, k-drama, etc…I do wish I was Korean or Japanese…:D SURPRISE…oh maybe I am the only IRAQI who follows your blog…wicked!!!

definitely, I love henna art and as hair dye…especially permanent hair straightening henna, it’s in black color only though *random* which lasts for almost one year!!

        • the Muse

lol suz! I think it’s rather nice 😀 you MIGHT be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! “=D Lush actually sells henna, always been tempted to try!

  • kelly

I am also intrigued by this. TEMPTU has similar ones, but the designs are more bleh. If you could airbrush them on, then I would be interested. But for $75, I would have to pass.

    • the Muse

kelly I was trying to think if it was worth it as it’s 55 designs for the price…but not sure I’d actually use them all that much but they have me sooo curious. I seen the temptu ones and felt the same!

  • Heather / Eyeconic

$75 for temporary tattoos? Ahhhhh so expensive! I only use Hello Kitty temp tats anyway… soooo superior in quality, obviously. :p

    • the Muse

LOL hello kitty ones rock it heather 😀 likey! I need Chanel Hello kitty ones please 🙂

  • Kiera

I would buy them in a heartbeat (that is if I actually had the money too buy them), they look gorgeous and much more realistic and pretty than normal temp tattoos. I would not doubt to go under the needle myself and get the actual thing, but as for know I have to wait… so this seem to serve my purpose. The only things I would ask, is how long do they stay? and do they fade or do they peel off your skin (like the really cheap ones, think cookie tat cheap)?

    • the Muse

hey kiera couldn’t agree more, they are very pretty 😀 I dunno..good question I imagine they stay on long and you might need alcohol to remove but can’t say for sure!?

  • Bevi

Hmmm… the designs are pretty meh. And $75 does seem a little steep – but this is Chanel. 🙂 I think I’ll stick with the real thing. 🙂

    • the Muse

bevi that’s what called me, the chanel branding 😀 I thought 55 pieces wasn’t too bad for the price but I dunno if I’d ever actually USE all of those ya know? 😀 plus I’m not willing to get real ink myself, scared as hell of that!

  • the makeup block

I got so excited when I saw these in a magazine but I don’t think I can afford them, it seems good value in the sense that you get 55 of them but I’ll never get through that many. It would be so awesome if they sold them in smaller (cheaper) packs

    • the Muse

makeup block that would be fun! Say a 10 pack or even a 5 pack 😀 I wouldn’t get through 55 either prob but I have played with the idea to get a pack and review.

    • the Muse

really silhouette? I didn’t get the tacky feel so much but I wasn’t sure about sporting a chanel logo 😀 but I dig the chains and birds and such 😀

  • gio

I’m intrigued by these, they look so pretty. But I wouldn’t spend $75 for temporary tattoos.

    • the Muse

hey gio I am too! I’m played with the idea of getting a pack for review 😀 I can’t resist the evil lure of chanel 🙂

  • Lisa

I was a bridesmaid for my friend’s wedding this summer; her husband is Indian so we all got mehndi for it…I think I prefer that to Chanel tattoos!

      • Ricci

3 tropical orangy, pink lilies with green vine on lower back , (beautiful)
Lily on my shoulder, 3 pink flowers in a row ,each one is a bit smaller, at the nape of my neck.Butterflies on my upper arm, a Gecko above my breast (cute!) String of hearts on my leg, A Rose on my finger to cover a badly done tattoo when I was 13. 🙂

        • the Muse

holy cow ricci!!!!!!!! that’s incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 I’m scared of inkin’ myself 😀

          • Ricci

Its like giving birth, hurts like hell but once its over with you forget all about it and glad you went through with it lol

          • the Muse

LOL!!!!!!!! Ricci I’m laughing at that because you’re first person to admit it’s painful most people are like ow hell it’s a piece of cake!

          • Ricci

Seriously? Lmao,, I have big tattoos, those hurt , anyone that says otherwise is (lying) lol
Little ones dont hurt near as bad, but still hurt..
Piece of cake, my a$$ lol

          • the Muse

LOL at least you are honest ricci most of my friends who have had ink done say it’s a piece of cake 😀

  • Robyn

i wouldnt buy it they look pretty on the model but walking about wearing a chanel tattoo kindy tacky to me but them where im from you get alot of people with playboy /chanel etc tattoos bugs me lol

  • Amy

Permanent tattoos are a bit of a no no I think personally. So I have been on the waiting list for these beauts since I first laid eyes on them! (like two months ago and the waiting list then at selfridges was already up to 61!). I’m fickle so these easily changable tattoos will suit me perfectly. Plus they’re so chic!

    • the Muse

me too amy..not only b/c I’m scared but also because I change my mind alot. knowing me I’d get one and a few days later wouldn’t want it LOL! WOW seriously!? I thought they were too! great minds! high five hehe! Lots of folks aren’t loving but I kinda dig ’em. Not sure about the chanel logo ones but I like the bird and such…wish I knew what else was included in the set!

  • jonnie

I have my own tattoos as well; stars and kanji on my right shoulder and one from a Sailormoon artbook on my lower back. I loves my tattoos and I wish I had been brave enough when I was younger to get more. I feel too old now… and while my bf would never tell me not to do something with my body he’s clearly (without saying so) not in love with my tats so I’ve held off getting more ’cause he rocks my world. 🙂

As for $75 temps? No freakin’ way! Love the cherry blossom one though.

    • the Muse

sounds like beautiful ink jonnie! awww sounds like you guys are in lurvezzzzz 😀 sweet! I love anything related to cherry blossom myself…I dunno I must the only idiot thinking $75 wasn’t too bad for the large pack, that’s 55 of ’em…it’s less than 2 bucks a tat…not really bad??

  • knownever

I hate how companies always release some typically boring spring makeup and then try to edge it up with wacky packaging, ugly promo shots, or gimmicky stuff like this. It would be incredibly difficult to apply a temporary tattoo all the way around your wrist or across your throat. Although I suppose chanel is getting the effortless hype it wants.

    • the Muse

      hey knownever!

You didn’t like Chanel Spring ’10? I thought it was quite nice. True it probably is difficult to get them around your wrist, chest, etc..I guess they assume we have someone helping us 😀

  • Amy

Yeah I thought when you break down the price per tattoo its no more expensive than the natural history museum ones i used to buy back in ’95! Probably cheaper actually. As a seasoned temporary tattoo user (haha) trust me it is PIPS to get a bracelet tattoo on, I could do it when I was 5, i’m hoping I can still do it now lol! I loved Chanel Spring ’10 bought the poudre and particuliere.

    • the Muse

hey amy! I thought they were pretty affordable too just dunno if I’d used 55 of ’em!!!!!!!!! 😀 I love it too 🙂 I really want ’em but I’m kinda feeling like I might not use they have been in and out of my cart since I seen them 🙂

  • K

They’re lovely, but I think I’d feel like a literal commodity wearing one. Jewelry and clothes are one thing, and I realize these are temporary, but it’s kind of like… yo, look, I’m a product of Chanel! Which is disturbing on multiple levels. It’s an interesting idea, anyway.

    • the Muse

K true on many levels 😀 I do like the ones that aren’t in your face chanel though like the birds and chains and such 🙂
